Chapter 15: Finally Arrived in Shanghai

When we were almost at our destination...

A staff member went to open the door and called out, "We're almost at Shanghai. Please line up and get off one by one."

At first, the crowd patiently queued up.

But some people lack manners; wanting to be the first to get off, they rush over.

One person takes the lead, and the others follow suit.

The scene suddenly descended into chaos.

"Don't push, don't push, line up!"

The staff were shouting, but no one listened to him.

Everyone had been on the train for several days and was eager to get off and move around. Now that they could rush out, no one was going to give way.

Soon the train doors were packed with people.

After getting off the bus, it was crowded and noisy, and some people even lost their shoes.

He Yushen and Sheng Yueqing kept an eye on the crowd around them and sure enough, they saw the two men covering the widow's mouth as they squeezed through the crowd.

He hurriedly called out to the staff, "Look quickly, it really is a human trafficker."

The staff saw it too and quickly took out a megaphone, shouting, "Come quick! There are human traffickers! Keep an eye on your children and wives!"

The loudspeaker was quite loud, and when people in the crowd heard that there were human traffickers, they immediately stopped and rushed to look for their children.

Some children really did go missing, and people hurriedly shouted, "My child, my child!"

The human traffickers didn't expect to be discovered and tried to escape in the chaos.

The staff quickly called for help.

The scene was chaotic; some people ran away, and some cried.

It was Sheng Yueqing who reminded the staff to call the police.

Finally, the police arrived and restored order, which improved the situation.

However, there were too many people and it was too chaotic, so four human traffickers escaped.

Only one was caught.

The human trafficker refused to admit it and kept arguing that he had arrested the wrong person.

The rescued widow collapsed to the ground, her hair disheveled.

She was about to get off the bus with her child when her mouth was suddenly covered, and she was almost dragged into an unlicensed taxi.

Fortunately, the police arrived, and the human traffickers, finding her a burden, abandoned her, thus saving her life.

But her son was taken away, which terrified her and made her cry loudly. "My son! My son!"

The police came to handle it.

Sheng Yueqing and her colleagues cooperated with the investigation and provided physical characteristics of the human traffickers.

But they asked the police to keep it confidential to avoid retaliation from the human traffickers.

After leaving the police station, the woman who was going to Shanghai patted her chest, feeling a wave of lingering fear.

"Luckily, I listened to Brother He and tied the children up properly, otherwise I would have gone crazy if the children had been lost."

He Yushen was also quite frightened. "You still need to be careful when you're out and about."

Although people are generally honest and kind now, it doesn't mean there aren't bad people.

The woman nodded repeatedly, "Thank you so much this time. My husband's car is here. Please take a ride with us."

Sheng Yueqing didn't refuse, "Thank you so much."

The older sister smiled and said no need.

The four of them got into the car together.

She was riding in a rather expensive car these days, so it seems the older sister's husband is doing quite well.

As for what position they would rise to, Sheng Yueqing and He Yushen wisely refrained from asking.

After all, it's their privacy, and it's inappropriate to ask such gossipy questions.

The eldest sister appreciated their thoughtfulness and escorted them to Shanghai, even leaving her contact information.

“My surname is Fan, my name is Fan Wenfang, and I am temporarily staying at the Huawen Hotel.”

"If you need any help, you can come to the Huawen Hotel to find me."

Sheng Yueqing thanked her for accepting the gift and gave the child a bag of pear syrup candy. "Okay, Sister Fan, let's meet up for a meal together after we've settled in."

Sister Fan smiled and nodded, then left with the child.

Looking at the bustling streets and buildings around him, He Yushen felt a sense of novelty, like a country bumpkin entering the city for the first time.

Sheng Yueqing also looked at the bustling streets of Shanghai and felt a new life beckoning to them.

"Let's go, let's take a look around first."

When you first arrive, check out the surrounding area for cheap shops and guesthouses.

They searched along the way, but there were basically no empty shops on the bustling streets.

There is only one empty shop in the very corner, in a place where no one passes by.

This empty shop is directly opposite a wall, and there are also walls on both sides, so passing customers can't see it at all.

Although it's in the center of the street, the location is so bad that it can't be rented out.

Sheng Yueqing, however, felt that since the place was close to the street and the shops had high ceilings, she could make a small loft to live in and save on rent.

However, the store has no toilet or equipment, and it will cost a lot of money to buy equipment and renovate.

Seeing them frown, the landlord assumed they didn't want to rent, so he quickly spoke up.

"Although this shop is in a remote location, you can go out and advertise it."

“Look, this corner leads to the street. You can put up your billboard there; people will be able to see it.”

Sheng Yueqing asked about the price, "What's your lowest rental price?"

If the price is cheap, she might consider it.

The boss glanced at their clothes and could tell they were from a small town and probably didn't have much money.

But even a small profit is still profit, and leaving a shop empty is a waste; it's naturally good if it can be rented out.

He then quoted a price: "Normally, we charge three to five yuan per square meter for prime shops, but I'll charge you two yuan per square meter here."

Sheng Yueqing frowned. They had already asked the locals while they were eating. The rent for a regular room here was only 30 cents per square meter.

If it's a prime location, there are indeed three to five yuan.

But this location is so bad, it's worth at most a little over one dollar.

The boss actually ordered two pieces?

Sheng Yueqing bargained, "Logically speaking, one yuan per square meter is the most you can pay here. I won't argue with you any further. Let's just say one yuan per square meter, and sign a one-year contract first."

The boss was surprised that these two guys from the countryside weren't stupid, especially the pretty girl, who actually knew about the contract.
