Chapter 21 Du Fang's Family Visits

In the end, Yang Hongwei simply locked his father-in-law and mother-in-law out of the door without even leaving them any food.

The Du family was furious. They had walked so far and argued for so long, and they were really tired and hungry. But their son-in-law's family wouldn't give them food. What could they do? Wasn't there another Du family daughter nearby? So the group went to the Huang family in a mighty procession.

When they arrived at the Huang family, the Du family was even more rude. They sat down and started shouting at the Huang sisters to serve tea and water, while also criticizing the Yang family.

After being beaten by Yang, Mrs. Du's illness became even worse. Now that people from her natal family had come, she had to force herself to get up and greet everyone.

"I think Yang Hongwei really needs to be taught a lesson. He has such an attitude and behavior towards Yue's family. In the past, he would have been scolded to death." Yang Hongwei's brother-in-law, Du Fang's eldest brother, was filled with righteous indignation.

Du Fang's father, a skinny old man whose skin had turned the yellowish color of bacon, said as he smoked a cigarette, "That kid is not to be trifled with. He doesn't have a reputation for being a vicious person for nothing."

"No matter how fierce he is, he still has to be filial. Dad, you are his father-in-law, so he should respect you. This is the rule passed down by our ancestors. He will definitely be struck by lightning for what he did today. Just wait and see."

The third son of the Du family was convinced that Yang Hongwei would be struck by lightning. After hearing this, Yang Hongwei beat Du Fang up at home to vent his anger. But that’s another story.

The Du family railed against Yang Hongwei fiercely. Mrs. Du, still a little exhausted, sat by his side, echoing her family's words. They enthusiastically discussed how irrational Yang Hongwei was, how honest Huang Zhong was (in their own eyes, of course), and how sensible and obedient Du Fang was (also in their own eyes). They also discussed how Yang Hongwei, that lunatic, had believed the rumors and done such a thing. Heaven had seen through it all; Yang Hongwei would surely suffer a bitter end.

Yang Hongwei did not have a good ending later, but it was not predicted by these prophets, but because of his own actions.

The Du family came, so Mrs. Du naturally requested a good reception. If there was no meat, she would still have to make some eggs, right? She would still have to fry a few more vegetables, right?

But the Huang family was incredibly poor, and the Huang sisters weren't particularly keen on entertaining guests from their grandmother's house. They weren't usually very kind to them, so they didn't really cook anything. The dishes they ended up with were mostly stir-fried vegetables and dried radish, along with a pile of pickles. There wasn't even any moldy tofu, simply because the family couldn't afford it. Finally, there was a large bowl of egg soup, but when I stirred it with chopsticks, I couldn't see any egg droplets, so it looked like there was only one egg in it.

Mrs. Du secretly twisted the thigh of her eldest daughter who was cooking. Sister Huang almost cried out. Mrs. Du's move was really powerful.

The Du family members' expressions were not good either. Where was the warm reception they had promised? Is this the warm reception?

In the end, the family still didn't have enough bowls, and the neighbors were unwilling to lend them any, so the Huang sisters had to eat out of teacups. Telling this to others would make you laugh to death.

Ever since hearing that Liu Guoqing had started to implement the plan, Xia Ruzheng had been paying close attention to the movements of the Huang family and Huang Zhong, but Huang Zhong did not move at all, and instead the Du family came.

Xia Ruzheng was a little worried and asked Xia Ruqian, "Do you think that with the Du family coming, the Yang family will become less powerful?"

Xia Ruqian nibbled melon seeds and said, "Don't worry, sister. I'll go find out for you right away!"

It's not hard to find out about this kind of thing. Everyone is asking about it, waiting for fresh gossip to come out every day! Xia Ruqian scattered a handful of melon seeds and soon got the answer she wanted. Yang Hongwei's reputation for evil was even worse. He didn't even buy into the Yue family's account. Such a person was too scary!

Xia Ruzheng held his chin and said, "If that's the case, the conflict will be further intensified. And because the Du family is coming, Yang Hongwei will abuse Du Fang even more."

Xia Ruqian said, "Isn't it? Yang Hongwei is a man you really can't mess with. I told Guoqing to be careful. Sister, don't worry, take your time. The key is that we can't be exposed."

Xia Ruzheng glanced at her and knew that the girl was thinking about Liu Guoqing's safety, so he didn't bother to talk to her.
