Chapter 23 Yang Hongwei Wants a Divorce

Xia Ruzheng thought that the reaction was none of her business, so she could just avoid getting into trouble.

The people nearby had already noticed Xia Ruzheng and asked her, "Zhengzheng, what happened between you and Huang Zhong? Why is Huang Zhong getting involved with his cousin again?"

Xia Ruzheng said helplessly, "What are you talking about? Although they proposed marriage several times, our family didn't agree! I don't know who likes to talk nonsense and insist that we are engaged."

At this point, everyone thought about it and agreed. Although Xia Ruzheng was a bit older, he was good-looking and his family was wealthy. He used to be lazy, but now he's not lazy anymore and he's a very good worker. Why marry into the Huang family, who are so duplicitous?

They forgot how they also believed this gossip and sighed.

Du Fang was pushed home by Yang Hongwei. Du Fang wanted to kneel down and beg for mercy several times on the way, but was stopped by Yang Hongwei's carrying pole: "You did something shameful and you are afraid of me telling you? Humph!"

Du Fang wiped her tears. Was she regretting it now? Of course, she wasn't regretting being with her cousin, but rather regretting that she wasn't careful enough and was followed by Yang Hongwei! He immediately discovered what was going on between her and her cousin. Her cousin had given her something that Yang Hongwei would never give her! A man's affection!

At this time, Du Fang was still dreaming.

But thinking of Yang Hongwei behind her, Du Fang's legs began to tremble again. She didn't know what Yang Hongwei would do to her. Would he beat her like before? But now that she was pregnant, she shouldn't be beaten so badly. The child in her belly was her amulet.

When they returned home, it was already lunchtime. Zhang hadn't noticed anything unusual about the two and was still complaining, "You two are such idiots for not even coming back for dinner. Go wash your faces! The food's still warming in the pot!"

Yang Hongwei threw the carrying pole aside, making a clanging sound, which scared Du Fang so much that she trembled. Only then did the Yang family realize that Yang Hongwei was angry again.

"What's going on? Nothing is more important than harvesting the grain. Now is not the time to lose your temper!"

Yang Hongwei said bitterly, "I caught them red-handed this time! Mom, I saw Du Fang and Huang Zhong together! They were even making out in the shabby house behind Tile Village!"

Zhang was shocked: "What?!"

Then, Zhang was filled with rage. She rushed to Du Fang and slapped her twice, cursing her viciously: "Bitch! Slut!" She even spat on Du Fang's face, and Du Fang didn't dare to wipe it off.

Yang Hongwei pulled Du Fang's arm and walked inside. Zhang followed and asked, "What are you doing?"

Yang Hongwei said in a very calm tone: "It's embarrassing outside!"

Yang Hongwei was very strong and pulled Du Fang's arm, causing it to burn with pain. He finally let go, but before Du Fang could rub it, a huge impact force hit him, and Du Fang flew out and fell to the ground.

Zhang screamed loudly, causing the Yang family members who had gone to take a nap to get up and come to the main room.

"What are you doing? She is pregnant!" Zhang was still worried about the grandson in Du Fang's belly.

Yang Hongwei snorted and said, "I don't even know if it's mine! I suspect it's someone else's, so I don't even dare to have it!"

Zhang's hand that was about to support Du Fang suddenly stopped and she quickly withdrew it, looking at Du Fang with even more resentment.

Du Fang lay on the ground. Although it was still autumn, the ground was extremely cold.

"Mom! Give me a hand!" Du Fang begged Zhang. She felt severe pain in her stomach, so severe that she couldn't get up.

Zhang said coldly, "You deserve it! You're like a urinal. Any man can pee in you!"

Du Fang's face turned pale. The pain in her body made her no longer care about shame. She felt very bad. The baby must be coming out!

"Mother—" Du Fang was interrupted by Zhang's harsh voice before she could even finish her words: "Don't call me mother! I don't have a daughter-in-law as cheap as you. I want Hongwei to divorce you! Divorce!"

Divorce is a relatively new term in recent years. Everyone advocates for so-called freedom, and freedom of marriage is one form of it. However, divorce now causes women greater harm, much like being abandoned in the past. Divorce also leads to a high suicide rate among women. Divorced women cannot return to their in-laws' homes, and their in-laws will not accept them. They live alone, exposed to bullying.

After hearing Zhang's words, Du Fang felt like she was falling into an abyss. She ignored the pain and immediately threw herself on Zhang's legs, crying and begging, "Mom! I know I was wrong, I won't do it again! Please don't let us get divorced, I don't want a divorce! If we get divorced, I will die!"

The Yang brothers, feeling bored, went back to sleep. They now understood clearly that their brother's wife, though seemingly docile, was actually quite restless. The remaining wives stood nearby, watching with considerable interest. There was always a lot of friction between the sisters-in-law, and now that Du Fang had caused such a scandal, they were naturally gloating. Several children were also peeking out from behind the doorframe. Du Fang's son was also watching, but he didn't dare to approach or anything.

Zhang was not so easily blackmailed. She pried Du Fang's hands apart and said, "Well, then, just go and die! Die cleanly! Then others won't laugh at our Yang family for having such a daughter-in-law!"

Yang Hongwei came out of the house again and said, "I don't need my mother's advice. I want a divorce too. I can't afford a woman like that. I might as well go and live with Huang Zhong. After all, you're all good brothers and sisters!"

Du Fang suddenly lost all hope, her hands went limp, and she fell to the ground again. Zhang hurriedly pulled her feet out, as if she was afraid that Du Fang would dirty her feet.
