Chapter 140 Being Kicked Out

"No, we'll give you your money back. Just leave now and don't come back to cause us any more trouble." The hotel manager made a decisive decision and refused to accept a single penny.

They spent the first night in a hospital ward and the second night in the hospital morgue. In fact, they just dropped off their luggage at a hotel and didn't stay there at all.

The hotel refunded their money, took their belongings downstairs and threw them back at them, telling them to get lost and stop standing at the door scaring people and affecting the hotel's business.

"Sister, what should we do?" Lin Chacha sniffed.

"Big sister, let's go ask the Bai family for help." Lin Xiaoxue immediately thought of this and looked at her expectantly.

Lin Taozi was still sobbing, looking up blankly at her older sister. Lin Xiazhu patted her head, then walked to the side pretending to make a phone call. When she came back, she whispered, "Let's go, let's get a taxi. There's somewhere we can go."

Then Lin Xiazhu led them to the villa they had traded the Ganoderma lucidum for. They had a place to stay and no one would kick them out, but the house was empty and there was nothing inside.

Yes, there's nothing there, not a single piece of furniture. The house is very spacious and beautiful, though. Because the doors and windows are usually locked, there's not much dust inside; it's quite clean.

Lin Xiazhu opened the doors and windows to let in fresh air. She hadn't planned to live in this house; she wanted to keep it and sell it later to make a lot of money. She never expected to have to spend the night here so soon.

"In the hot summer, I'll just wipe the floor with a cloth and make do for the night," Lin Xiazhu said.

"Sister, whose house is this? Why are they willing to lend it to us?" Lin Chacha was surprised by the house's luxury and spaciousness.

Lin Xiaoxue's eyes darted around, wanting to ask if her older sister had bought the house, but Lin Xiazhu quickly dispelled her guess, "The house belongs to the Bai family. We can't just take an urn of ashes to someone else's house, so we had someone arrange for us to stay in an empty house for the night."

"They should at least provide a bed or something. This is too perfunctory." Actually, Lin Xiaoxue didn't believe her older sister's words. She thought that the house was probably bought by her older sister. How could the Bai family let them sleep on the floor?

"You should be grateful that you have a place to sleep. Always wanting better things is too greedy and annoying." Lin Chacha glared at her, annoyed that she still had the mood to fuss over so much at a time like this.

In the late afternoon, Lin Xiazhu prepared to go out. She told Lin Chacha, "Look after your little sister. I'm going out to buy some food and plane tickets. We'll go home tomorrow."

"Big sister, where are you going? Let me go with you." Lin Xiaoxue thought she wanted to go to the Bai family secretly.

“Behave yourselves, don’t run around, and don’t wander around the house. If you damage anything in the house, we won’t be able to pay for it even if we sell you. If you dare to run away on your own, we won’t come looking for you. You can just wander around the capital.”

Lin Xiazhu spoke sternly, and finally gave Lin Xiaoxue a sharp look.

"Don't worry, sis, I'll definitely keep an eye on her and won't let her leave even for a moment." Lin Chacha also squinted at Lin Xiaoxue, her expression clearly saying that if she dared to misbehave, she would smash her to pieces.

First, I went to the airport and bought four plane tickets. Then I called Lin Shanfu to inform him that Zhao Xiaolian had passed away.

"What? Your mother is gone? You're in Beijing now, what are we going to do?" Lin Shanfu was very worried about the four sisters.

"Uncle, don't worry, the Bai family is still here. My mother has already been cremated, and we'll be flying back tomorrow to hold the funeral. Could you please help us make the arrangements?" We need to notify relatives to come for the funeral.

The only family from the Lin family village are the Zhao family. Lin Xiazhu doesn't know if the Zhao family will come. She hopes they won't. The Zhao family is notoriously difficult to deal with, and she really doesn't want to have anything to do with them. But no matter how unwilling she is, she can't erase the existence of blood ties.

After notifying her hometown, Lin Xiazhu took a taxi to the Yan family home. She wanted to see how Yan Xin was doing and whether she was as she had imagined.

With great strength and speed, climbing walls and trees was no problem for Lin Xiazhu. She quickly sneaked into the Yan family's house and, based on Yan Xin's previous clues, found Yan Xin's room without much effort.

The result was disappointing. Yan Xin was still the same as before, without any change. She didn't even open her mouth to be fed by the maid, and others had to pinch her chin to force her to open her mouth.

Looking at Yan Xin, who was still as wooden as a statue, Lin Xiazhu was somewhat disappointed. It seemed that Yan Xin had not returned to this body and had gone back to the future.

Lost in thought, she didn't even notice someone entering the room. The person was Yan Mei. She was very perceptive and soon sensed a gaze peeking through the window. She rushed over and shouted, "Who's there?"

Lin Xiazhu snapped out of her daze, leaped onto a tree, and quickly scaled the wall to escape. By the time the Yan family members chased after her, she was long gone.

"Did you see wrong? You're just too suspicious, always making a fuss over nothing," Mother Yan said coquettishly.

"How strange. I clearly felt someone peeking through the window, but how did they disappear in the blink of an eye?" Yan Mei was very confident. Her intuition was always accurate, and her reactions were sharp. She couldn't possibly be wrong.

But Yan Xin is a good-for-nothing, so it doesn't make sense for anyone to have designs on her.

So she wasn't quite sure anymore; maybe it was just her imagination?

After leaving the Yan family, Lin Xiazhu bought food and returned to the villa. She found Lin Xiaoxue sitting obediently next to Lin Chacha, but her face looked rather sour.

Lin Taozi was leaning against Lin Chacha, her head nodding, her eyelids drooping, and she was about to fall asleep when she heard the door open and sat up straight with a start.

Seeing that it was Lin Xiazhu who had returned, she breathed a sigh of relief. She felt uneasy when her older sister was not around, always afraid that something unexpected might happen.

"Come and eat, everyone." Before, everyone was so busy being sad that they didn't have any appetite and went hungry for several meals. Now they're all feeling a bit weak.

They crowded around and wolfed down their food. After all, they were just kids. Once they vented their sadness, they felt much better and could at least eat.

Lin Xiazhu, on the other hand, seemed preoccupied and had little appetite. She ate very little; she used to be able to eat five large bowls of rice, but now she would only eat one bowl at most.

Lin Chacha privately told Lin Taozi, "Don't listen to those people's nonsense. Our eldest sister is just too responsible. She's afraid that if she collapses, no one will take care of the three of us. It's more worrying that she doesn't cry; crying will make her feel better. Keeping it inside will harm her health."

My eldest sister has been holding it in for so many days because she's worried about us, so she's pretending to be strong. She's the one who's having the hardest time.

Lin Taozi wholeheartedly agreed. She had been feeling extremely sad before, so sad that she couldn't breathe. But she felt much better after crying it out. She understood what her second sister was saying; her eldest sister had really had a tough time.

“Then we can go back now. Big sister can cry now. Crying will make you feel better,” she said softly.

“You’re probably overthinking it. I think my older sister just can’t cry. She doesn’t seem that sad inside; she just has something on her mind.” It has to be said that Lin Xiaoxue truly sees through things.

But Lin Chacha didn't believe her nonsense and was even furious, her eyes practically spitting fire. "Shut up! If you keep talking nonsense, I'll punch you on the head and wake you up. It'll be serious if you can't cry anymore. I'm just too tolerant. You ungrateful wretch, you're just adding to her troubles. Get out of here."
