Chapter Ninety-Two: The Reason for Celebrating the Holiday Early

Over the years, Mrs. Chen maintained a facade of respecting her best friend's son, but in reality, she hated him to death. However, she was also a decisive person. After her own son was switched by her best friend, she hardened her heart and never went looking for him.

After all, she didn't want to see her best friend again, so she might as well just let things be as if nothing had happened.

But an accident still happened. When his adopted son was fourteen years old, he was seriously injured in a fight and lost a lot of blood. Then, Mr. Chen discovered that his eldest son's blood type did not match his.

And so the truth came out.

Mrs. Chen was indeed flustered and anxious at first, and was frightened for several days, but she quickly calmed down and said that she did not know about the matter.

She didn't even reveal her best friend's identity, instead claiming that she might have been switched at birth in the hospital.

The Chen family went to the hospital for a checkup, but they couldn't find anything. Later, they somehow ended up in a rural area in the south, and they actually found it.

Returning to Bai Junbo's story, knowing that Chen Ziming was going south on behalf of his uncle to pick up his cousin, he deliberately booked the same flight as Chen Ziming, and even got seats in front of and behind him.

When asked why he went with those people, he replied...

Nothing much, just going to join in the fun and escape his dad's bombardment, under the guise of going to find his older brother. Besides, the county Chen Ziming was going to was the same one he had visited seven years ago, where he had even bought a wild ginseng from a little girl.

Seven years have passed. The little girl must have grown into a young woman by now. I wonder if she still has wild ginseng to sell.

She was a very special and interesting girl. She was strong, calm, and a great fighter.

That morning, Bai Junbo came downstairs with his luggage. His father was having breakfast downstairs. When he saw him, he immediately frowned and said, "Where are you going to go again? You're so old, do you still think you're young? Going around playing around everywhere. Can't you just find a proper girlfriend?"

"Dad, I'm in the prime of my life, and my best years are just beginning. There's no rush to get married. Don't worry, I'll find you a wife you'll be happy with in a few years and give you a big, healthy grandson," Bai Junbai said dismissively.

“However, how many years is a few years? I can wait, but your grandfather might not be able to. You can save him some trouble.” Mr. Bai pulled the old man out again.

"...Dad, don't be angry. I'm not going to pick up girls right now. I'm going to the south. There's news about my older brother there. This time it's probably true." Not afraid of lying and getting caught up in his own words, Bai Junbai made up a lie to avoid his father's barrage of questions.

Once he calmed down on the plane, he felt annoyed. He had spoken so confidently that his father had taken it seriously and was waiting for him to bring back good news.

Now that's a problem. Where is he going to find an older brother to compensate his father and grandfather?

"Young Master Bai, what are you doing here? You're not going to the same place as me, are you?" Chen Ziming spotted him as soon as he boarded the plane, which made him so angry he almost exploded.

Bai Junbo glanced at him lazily and said listlessly, "I'm going to S City. You're not going to S City too, are you? I'm warning you, don't follow me, or you'll regret it."

Chen Ziming gritted his teeth. This guy was really turning the tables. This flight was a direct flight to S City, and he had already booked a first-class ticket. He was there to find someone. What could Bai Junbai possibly do in that godforsaken city?

They just wanted to cause trouble for him. Nobody outside knew about his uncle's son being switched at birth. Only Bai Junbai kept an eye on the Chen family. He must have found out something, so he followed him.

"You'd better not get involved in this, or the Chen family will never let you off the hook," Chen Ziming warned him in a low voice.

"Do you think I'm afraid of your Chen family?" Bai Junbai sneered, arrogantly glancing at the other party before closing his eyes to rest, ignoring him completely.

Changhe County.

Lin Xiazhu and Xiao An's middle school entrance exam results are out. Xiao An is a shoo-in for the county's top high school, and Xiao An even got the best score in the city, which is quite an amazing result.

As for Lin Xiazhu, she ranked second in the county, which was quite good. However, she was not very satisfied with herself. She was reborn. Although she did not attend junior high school in her previous life, she had been self-studying junior high and high school knowledge, and later she also attended night school.

After being reborn, she took her studies very seriously and consistently ranked among the top three in her grade. Sometimes she was surpassed by Xiao An, and other times she was surpassed by another top student from the county.

Sigh, it's all tears when I talk about it. It's better not to compare your grades with those of real geniuses.

That evening, Lin Xiazhu bought a lot of groceries, preparing to celebrate at home.

"Why go through all that trouble? It's so much more convenient to just eat at a hotel." Yan Xin twitched her lips as she looked at the dozen or so plastic bags full of food.

"Making a big fuss won't have a good impact. It's not like he got into a top university; there's no need to go to the hotel. Xiao An's grades might get him a special admission offer from the city; I don't know if he'll even want to go then."

"Don't just stand there, come help! Uncle and Zhang Yu are coming over for dinner tonight, and we'll definitely need two tables to accommodate everyone."

Lin Xiazhu took all the ingredients out of the plastic bag and put them in a basin: a rooster, an old duck, a goose, a hen, pork belly, beef and offal, and two tilapia...

"Can we finish all this food?" Yan Xin shook her head. Every time there was a birthday or holiday celebration, Lin Xiazhu would buy a lot of meat.

Chicken, duck, pork, beef, mutton, fish—anything that can be bought in the county town is indispensable. But it seems that Lin Xiazhu is not the only one like this; everyone here is like this.

Moreover, in many places in Changhe County, people celebrate festivals a day earlier. For example, the Dragon Boat Festival is on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, but in several places in Changhe County, people celebrate it on the fourth day of the fifth lunar month.

For example, the Mid-Autumn Festival is on the 15th of August, but many people here celebrate it on the 14th. Moreover, Changhe County celebrates every festival, including the Ghost Festival and the Double Ninth Festival, a day earlier than usual. It's almost embarrassing.
