Chapter Sixty-Two: Another Trip to the Clothing Market?

Two days later, Lin Xiazhu chartered a Longma car. The front two rows of seats were limited to six people, and with the driver, it was considered one person overloaded. However, the enforcement was not strict at this time. If there were any traffic police, Lin Xiazhu planned to sit on the trailer herself.

The Longma car is a privately owned vehicle in town, and one of only two old cars that has been driven by who knows how many people. It is used specifically for carrying passengers and hauling goods. The trailer is covered with a canopy, and two long benches are installed on both sides of the trailer with stainless steel and covered with leather so that they are not uncomfortable.

It's just very bumpy. After all, most of the road from the county to the city is not paved with cement, and it's very dusty. There's no highway yet, so you probably won't encounter traffic police.

The truck bed was half full of mountain goods, and it was tied tightly with straps so that there was no need to worry about them falling off during the journey.

Upon arriving in the city, the car drove directly to the dried goods market, where dried mushrooms, dried longan, banana chips, and other miscellaneous items were sold.

Lin Xiazhu had been here in her previous life, so it was not unfamiliar to her. The market was crowded and noisy, with shops on both sides and many stalls in the middle of the street.

She didn't plan to set up a stall; instead, she decided to try selling her goods to shop owners. If someone wanted them, she would sell them all. If the other party deliberately tried to lower the price, then she might as well set up her own stall.

So Lin Xiazhu started looking for mushroom shops to inquire. She was sure someone would want the mushrooms, but she wanted to see them first before discussing the price.

"This won't do, it won't fetch a good price. We have a dedicated supplier in our shop, so we don't need yours." Because the price was too high, those people refused to accept Lin Xiazhu's goods.

If they don't want it, fine. Lin Xiazhu doesn't want to sell it anyway. Her goods are of top quality and are all wild from the mountains. People who know their stuff will fight over them. These shopkeepers are just trying to drive down the price. They're too greedy.

After going around in circles, even though it was past lunchtime, they still hadn't sold anything.

Lin Chacha was extremely anxious. "Sister, what should we do if no one wants it? Are we going to have to take the goods back again?"

That's not necessary. Let's go eat first.

"No rush, let's find a restaurant to eat at, then find a hotel to stay in. We'll be staying for a few days anyway, so we're not worried about not being able to sell them." Lin Xiazhu wasn't in a hurry at all. Those people were deliberately making things difficult for her, thinking that she had come all this way and couldn't find a place to sell.

Over the next few days, she took her family sightseeing while looking for shops that bought mountain produce, confident that they would be able to sell it.

They found a restaurant nearby. Since it was past lunchtime, there weren't many customers. They sat down at a large round table. It was almost autumn, and the weather was terribly hot and humid. The ceiling fans in the restaurant were whirring.

It was too hot, and I had been on the bus all the way. Although I was quite hungry, I didn't have much of an appetite, so I only ordered a few plates of stir-fried vegetables with meat and a large bowl of pork liver and intestine soup.

"Boss, another order of stir-fried pork intestines and a plate of beef." These two meat dishes are mainly for the driver. We'll unload the food when we find the hotel, as the driver is going back today.

Although no one had much of an appetite, they still finished all the food they ordered, out of a sense of not wanting to waste it.

The hotel was located not far from the station. Because we needed to store goods, we booked two rooms. At first, the hotel receptionist disagreed, even though guests usually bring a lot of things. Lin Xiazhu had eight or nine bags in several burlap sacks, which was too much.

"How is that too much? Four snakeskin bags in one room? We hotel guests don't even mind it being cramped. What are you worrying about? It's not like we haven't paid." Lin Xiazhu wiped the sweat from her face, feeling a bit annoyed. She was dying of heat, and this receptionist was just too much of a troublemaker.

They're deliberately making things difficult for them because they come from the countryside.

"What's the big deal? We can just refund your money. Take it or leave it." The receptionist was a girl in her early twenties. She was quite pretty, with foundation and blush on her oval face, and pink lipstick on her lips. Her small eyes always glanced at others sideways.

"Do you own this hotel?" If she really does own it, it's fine if you don't stay, but with this kind of business attitude, this hotel is bound to go out of business sooner or later.

The receptionist's face stiffened, a flash of resentment crossing her eyes. She angrily threw the key on the counter and said, "If you want to stay, get in now. If you keep arguing, get out."

"Hey, this guy..." Yan Xin, who had been silent until now, couldn't help but speak up. How could a receptionist at a shabby hotel be so arrogant? He deserved to be scolded.

Lin Xiazhu grabbed her hand. "Alright, let's go inside." It's better to avoid trouble. It's too hot outside, and she doesn't want to carry things around.

I'm so dizzy! After sitting in the car for so long and then driving around for two hours, it's no wonder I feel dizzy. Although Lin Xiazhu doesn't throw up when she's in a car anymore, she still gets dizzy.

"Not today. I'll take a nap this afternoon and then go shopping in the evening." She spoke with barely any strength.

"Where will I sleep?" There were only two beds in the room, and Yan Xin didn't know if she would have to share a bed with Lin Xiazhu.

"Take Chacha and Xiaoxue to the next room. Taozi and Xiaoan will share a room with me." Taozi is still young, and she didn't feel comfortable leaving her with Yanxin, so she let Taozi sleep in the same bed as her, and Xiaoan sleep in the bed next to her.

Yan Xin had no objection, and of course, it wouldn't matter if she did. She didn't have much money on her, and Lin Xiazhu paid for her accommodation. What could she say?

Speaking of Yan Xin, she is quite pragmatic and can bend and stretch. Ever since she realized that she could not escape some kind of strange arrangement, she has obediently clung to Lin Xiazhu's coattails.

After Yan Xin and the other two went next door, Lin Xiazhu carried Lin Taozi to the bed and coaxed her to take a nap. Perhaps because she was tired from the car ride, Lin Taozi hummed for a while and then fell asleep.

Xiao An, on the other hand, was lying flat on the bed, staring straight at the ceiling without any sign of sleepiness.

Lin Xiazhu turned over and glanced at him. Seeing that he was still awake, she said, "Xiao An, aren't you dizzy? Take a rest, we'll go out later."

"Okay, I'm going to sleep right away." Then Xiao An really closed her eyes, and soon her even breathing could be heard.

Lin Xiazhu soon fell asleep as well. Xiao An quietly opened his eyes. He wasn't carsick, nor was he sleepy. In fact, he was always a light sleeper. When traveling to unfamiliar places, he didn't know how many people had slept in the hotel beds, so they were probably not very clean.

Xiao An, who is picky about beds and has obsessive-compulsive disorder about cleanliness, is finding it very difficult to adapt. Not only can she not sleep now, but she may not be able to sleep at night either.

Lin Xiazhu slept for three hours before waking up, as did the others. After resting for a while, they felt much more energetic. After washing up, they prepared to go out.

"Where to now?" Yan Xin followed her instructions completely.

"Let's go to the clothing market."

"You went to see that friend you know again." This statement was made with certainty.

"Okay, let's go take a look." After saving Zhou Ling that time, Lin Xiazhu never came to the city again, but she believed that after that incident, Zhou Ling's life trajectory would definitely develop in a positive direction.

However, when she went to the clothing wholesale store where Zhou Ling's mother used to work, she was told that the store had already resigned.

The feisty proprietress kindly reminded her, "Don't bother looking at their place anymore. They've moved to the suburbs. I heard they have land there and built a new house."

"Don't ask me where their new house is. I only know it's in the suburbs, nothing else." It seems the landlady and Zhou Ling's family don't have much of a connection.

Lin Xiazhu just wanted to see how Zhou Ling was doing lately. Since she had moved, she decided to let it go and not necessarily have to have any deeper relationship with her anymore.
