Chapter 14: Classes and grades different from previous lives

Lin Shuangping handed the paper back to Xu Heye and sighed, "You're quite good, little girl, but you can't just focus on math and English. Chinese is the foundation of all understanding. You must not make mistakes on simple questions like poetry recitation next time."

Xu Heye took the test paper with both hands and nodded: "Don't worry, Teacher Lin, I will work hard." Yes, Lin Shuangping was her head teacher and Chinese teacher in her previous life.

In her previous life, Xu Heye had just lost her mother and was living under someone else's roof, spending her days in a daze. If it weren't for Teacher Lin's care and protection, she might not have been able to muster the energy to continue her studies, let alone get into high school.

Although she failed the college entrance examination and was unable to continue her studies, Teacher Lin laid a solid foundation for her learning career.

Lin Shuangping nodded and patted Xu Heye on the shoulder: "Study hard."

"Yes." Xu Heye looked at the gentle middle-aged female teacher in front of her, feeling a little sad. In her previous life, she had failed a grade, but she didn't fail this time. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to attend Teacher Lin's class again. But she would never forget her help.

After completing the admission procedures, there was still one class left before lunch break, so Xu Heye followed her future head teacher Chen Yuru to the classroom.

Yes, the head teacher of the second and third grade class she would attend in the future was the modern lady who looked down on students from other places, Chen Yuru, the niece of the head teacher Feng Shiqing.

Dong Taohua had not forgotten the conversation between Chen Yuru and Feng Shiqing just now. She wanted to change her daughter's class, but was stopped by Xu Heye.

Xu Heye held her mother's hand and shook her head.

She didn't care who the homeroom teacher was. Chen Yuru was a bit snobbish, but as long as she showed strong enough value, she wouldn't bully her. On the contrary, she would treat her well. After all, the performance evaluation of teachers was closely related to the students' grades.

"Can you do it yourself?" Dong Taohua said with concern as she dropped her daughter off at Class 3, Grade 2. Having lived in Hucheng for sixteen years, she understood how xenophobic this city can be.

"It's okay, Mom, don't worry." Xu Heye waved her hand.

She really wasn't afraid. Compared to society, school was much simpler.

Dong Taohua left, looking back every few steps.

Hearing that the school had a cafeteria and provided lunch and dinner, Dong Taohua found the school’s life teacher and bought a month’s worth of meal tickets. From then on, He Ye could eat lunch at school and no longer had to run back and forth.

After thinking about it, she bought some more meal tickets. If she didn't want to cook, she could have dinner at school and then go home to rest.

Xu Heye followed her homeroom teacher, Chen Yuru, into the classroom. Chen Yuru walked up to the podium, clapped her hands, and asked everyone to be quiet. Then she said, "Everyone, be quiet. This is the new transfer student, Xu Heye. She will be a member of our class from now on."

Then he said to a boy in the class, "Class monitor, go to the office and get a new set of textbooks for the transfer student."

After the monitor left, Chen Yuru looked around the classroom, pointed to a seat, and said to Xu Heye, "Xu Heye, go sit there."

"Okay, Teacher Chen." Xu Heye responded and walked towards her seat.

The seat Chen Yuru pointed her to was a bit far back, halfway across the classroom from the podium. As Xu Heye approached, her classmates all looked at her, their gazes distant and cold.

Really cold and xenophobic.

Xu Heye thought about it, walked to her seat, put down her backpack and sat down.

After a while, the monitor brought the book.

"Thank you, squad leader." Xu Heye took the book and thanked him.

"You're welcome." Class monitor Fang Sihe said with a smile, "I'm the class monitor, and it's my duty to help my classmates. If new classmates have any problems in their studies or life, you can come to me. My name is Fang Sihe." Fang Sihe is a relatively enthusiastic and cheerful boy, which is why he was appointed as the class monitor.

Xu Heye nodded: "Thank you, I won't be polite."

After Fang Sihe returned, Xu Heye began to unpack the books - Chinese, math, English, politics, history, geography, biology, and physics.

However, the high school entrance exam doesn't have to cover so many subjects. In the early 1990s, the Hucheng high school entrance exam only tested six subjects: Chinese, math, English, physics, chemistry, and physical education. Chemistry was not taught until the third year of junior high school.

The total score is 630, of which Chinese, mathematics and English are all scored out of 150, physics is 90, chemistry is 60, and physical education is 30. Of the 30 points for physical education, 15 points are given by the junior high school and 15 points are given by the physical education test.

Xu Heye began to remove the plastic wrap from the book covers. There were eight books, so she worked quickly. After removing the plastic wrap, she wrote her name on the pages.

Just as she finished the last book, the bell rang. Xu Heye put all the books aside and looked at the girl sitting next to her: "Classmate, what are we going to learn in this class?"

New deskmate Kong Xiaocao glanced at the podium and said in a low voice, "This class is physics, Chapter 10."

"Okay, thank you." Xu Heye found the physics book and turned to Chapter 10.
