When Xu Heye woke up again, it was already two in the afternoon. She was awakened by hunger. It was still gloomy outside, and she thought it was still early. She looked at her watch and realized it was already two in the afternoon.
Xu Heye was startled and quickly got up from the bed, changed her clothes, opened the curtains, and saw that it was cloudy outside.
When she walked to the bedside table, she found that Dong Taohua had left her a small note and that there was hot water in the kitchen that she had boiled for her, asking her to use it to wash.
She followed what Dong Taohua said in the note and went to the kitchen to find the thermos. It was two large bottles and very heavy to lift. They were filled with water that Dong Taohua had boiled that morning.
Using the boiled water, she brushed her teeth, took a quick shower, changed into clean underwear, and went to the study.
On the study desk, the order book and the tape recorder she used to record oral commercials were all gone, replaced by a small note left by her father.
Xu Hui: "Your mother and I took the order book and the repeater."
Xu Heye quickly changed her shoes and went out, taking a taxi to the mall. Before going up to the second floor, Xu Heye thought for a moment, then turned to the food area on the first floor lobby and found a noodle restaurant. She ordered a bowl of hot chicken noodle soup and ate it before going back to the shop.
When they arrived at the store, Dong Taohua saw her and the first thing she asked was, "Have you eaten?"
"I ate." Xu Heye said, "I just had a bowl of chicken noodle soup at the noodle shop downstairs and came up."
"Okay." Dong Taohua nodded and continued to collect cash for the customer. After collecting the money and bagging the clothes, she handed them to the customer. She picked up the small notebook next to her and wrote something on it.
After writing it down, she put down her notebook and picked up another gadget that was even more familiar to Xu Heye—a BBK recorder. She changed the batteries, rewound the tape, and soon a familiar male voice rang out: "The grand opening of Southern Women's Clothing..."
The magnetic baritone, with its ups and downs, neither hurried nor slow, was truly pleasant to listen to. Also... it was very different from Xu Hui's usual way of speaking.
If Xu Heye wasn't very familiar with her father's voice, she would not have recognized that this voice-over advertisement was actually recorded by Xu Hui.
A few new customers arrived at the store. The woman leading the group was about to ask when she heard the voice coming from the repeater. She opened and closed her mouth, then turned to her companions behind her and said, "Come in, this is the one."
When Xu Heye walked into the store, she was surprised to find two young girls wearing their winter clothes serving customers.
Xu Heye found Dong Xinghua and raised her chin towards the two girls: "Auntie, who are these two girls?"
Dong Xinghua said, "He's a salesperson who came to our store for a trial job."
"Auntie, the salesperson who's here for a trial job, the one you're looking for?"
Dong Xinghua shook her head: "No, they found it themselves."
"You found it yourself?"
"Yes, they came to ask after seeing the job ad posted outside our store. Your mother and I thought they both looked good, so we agreed to let them try out for three days. We'll decide whether to hire them based on their performance."
"For a trial period, the salary is eight yuan a day, including two meals. We'll discuss your salary after you start working."
"Recruitment advertisement?" Xu Heye was surprised. She rushed to the door of the store and saw a piece of red paper pasted outside the store with a recruitment advertisement written on it.
Recruiting salespersons, female, aged between 18 and 38, good-looking, good temperament, high school education, salary negotiable.
"Who wrote this job posting?"
"Your father wrote it." Dong Taohua replied without raising her head.
"My dad?"
"Yes." Dong Taohua answered her daughter's question, "When I got up in the morning, your father had already written the recruitment advertisement." She had bought the red paper for the advertisement earlier and planned to save it for cutting window decorations during the New Year, but Xu Hui found it and destroyed it.
Xu Heye opened her mouth and asked, "Have the missing goods in the shop been replenished?"
Dong Taohua continued to nod: "Yes."
"Your aunt and uncle went there this morning with a few young people and got the goods according to your order book."
Xu Heye didn't expect that in just one morning, everyone helped her complete what she wanted to do.
It seems that she really needs to change her mindset and learn how to use people instead of taking on all the responsibilities herself.
