Chapter 151 Good Intentions Lead to Bad Results

Just two days after Molly went to see Zheng Yuan, Jiang Wanqing told everyone some good news.

She learned through special channels that there was a very good piece of land suitable for them to set up a factory, and that she could find a time to talk to the relevant departments.

The group was overjoyed, and Yue Shuzhen breathed a long sigh of relief.

She patted her chest and said, "There's finally some good news. Once the factory site is decided, things will be easier from here on out."

"Yes, Wanqing has lost a lot of weight because of this," Shen Huan said with concern.

"I'm really useless, I haven't been able to help anyone much. If there's any heavy work to be done later, please don't hesitate to ask me for help!" Qin Meng volunteered.

"Okay, as long as the result is good, it doesn't matter if the process is a little tiring."

Jiang Wanqing was clearly very tired, but she still kindly comforted everyone, as if everything she had done was insignificant.

Molly, standing to the side, blinked and took Jiang Wanqing's arm.

"Who told you this news?" Her eyes were filled with anticipation.

"It's a special case, so it's not convenient to say anything right now."

"Alright, let's just take the first step."

She was almost certain that Zheng Yuan had helped her, and she pursed her lips, though she didn't know why Jiang Wanqing didn't just say so...

"I need to go to the approval department for a meeting tomorrow. Who of you will come with me?"

“I’ll go!” Molly was the first to raise her hand.

"Since Molly wants to go, let her go. Qin Meng and I have no experience in this area."

Yue Shuzhen smoothed her ponytail: "I'm too lazy to go. It's fine if someone goes with you."

"Okay, then let's go together."

"Uh-huh."

The two agreed to take half a day off tomorrow to go and check with the approval department.

In order to succeed in one fell swoop, Jiang Wanqing prepared everything in advance. The next day, she only needed to take the materials. As for Molly, she really only played the role of accompanying her.

On the way there, Molly was unusually excited and kept talking non-stop.

"Wanqing, do you think our factory can reach the same scale as Comrade Zheng's factory?"

When Zheng Yuan was mentioned, Jiang Wanqing's eyes darkened, and she forced a smile and shook her head.

"I don't know, they're not on the same track, so there's no comparison."

"That's true, but the fact that he was willing to help us this time shows that he's a really good person..."

"What did you say?"

Just then, a car drove past them, its horn drowning out Molly's voice. Jiang Wanqing didn't hear what she said, so she asked a question instead.

"It's nothing, we've arrived, let's go inside."

She was afraid that Jiang Wanqing would find out that she had secretly gone to see Zheng Yuan. After all, she wasn't without her own selfish motives, so she didn't dare to be honest and could only try to cover it up for now.

"good."

Jiang Wanqing suppressed her doubts and took the materials that needed to be reviewed to the relevant department's office.

It was still before closing time, and the place was bustling with activity. They had to wait outside for a while before they could go in.

The staff member looked exhausted. When he looked up at them and saw that they were two girls, his tone naturally became impatient.

"Are you here to choose a site for your factory too? There have been so many people coming lately, it's rare to see two women like this, don't be a rash decision..."

The staff member almost muttered the last two sentences, but since she was under someone else's roof, Jiang Wanqing had no choice but to pretend she didn't hear them. However, the smile on her face turned into a polite, businesslike demeanor.

"Yes, we're here to choose a site to set up a factory. Can this land be approved for us? I've looked into it, and no one has acquired it yet."

Jiang Wanqing handed over the prepared materials. When the staff saw the complete documents, their eyes lit up with surprise, and they clicked their tongues in delight.

"You've done a great job preparing, that's good. Don't worry, let me show you."

The staff member, supporting himself on the edge of the table, flipped through the pages one by one. Suddenly, his expression changed, and he looked up with a hoarse voice.

"Are you sure you want to build a factory on this land?" he asked.

"Yes, we want this land. Is there a problem?"

"This is a huge problem."

The other party threw the materials back to Jiang Wanqing, sighed, and seemed to feel both sympathy and helplessness.

"If you had come a couple of days earlier, you might have actually gotten this land. But you just happened to come today. The land was already promised to someone else this morning, and it was just waiting for the final stamp. Tell me, isn't that a bad coincidence?"

Jiang Wanqing knew that once the policy was relaxed, there would definitely be many people setting up factories, so it wouldn't be surprising if they all wanted the same piece of land as her. Therefore, she didn't think about other things, but instead seized on the loophole in the staff member's words.

"You said it just needs the final stamp, which means this matter isn't completely settled yet. Can I talk to him about it?"

"Hey, you know what, it's actually quite possible. The other party is known for being a really nice guy, and it seems like they're just playing around with this land, but..."

"But what?"

"Ha, I advise you to save your breath. You can't fight city hall. He's a big factory manager with both fame and fortune. You're unlikely to get a share of the pie from him."

The staff kindly advised her to look for other places, but she felt there was still hope and didn't want to bother looking for other locations. She would keep any better options as backups if they were available.

She gritted her teeth and said, "Please tell me who the other person is. Whether it works out or not, I still need to talk. I absolutely won't reveal that you told me."

As she spoke, she slipped a red envelope to the staff member, who picked it up, weighed it in his hand, and then put it in the drawer with satisfaction.

"Alright, then I'll tell you. He's Director Zheng Yuan, the factory manager who owns an equipment and machinery factory, you know that?"

"Zheng Yuan?!"

Before Jiang Wanqing could even be shocked, Molly jumped out with a huge reaction, her eyes wide open as if she had heard something incredible.

"Impossible! How could it be him? Wasn't he helping us?!"

"Ahem... I don't know about that. Anyway, I've already told you. In the end, it's up to you to decide what to do. Just don't drag me down. Go, go, there are other people waiting behind. Discuss it before you come back."

The staff tried to shoo the customer away, and Jiang Wanqing frowned deeply, but since the occasion was inappropriate, she had no choice but to pull Molly away first.

But as soon as she left the office building, Molly walked straight ahead by herself.

"Where are you going?" Jiang Wanqing caught up with him. "I'm not even angry yet, why are you reacting so strongly? That's strange."

It was originally meant as a sarcastic remark, but Molly's eyes reddened, and she turned to look at her with even a hint of guilt.

"I'm sorry, Wanqing. He clearly promised to help. I don't know... how things turned out like this."

Jiang Wanqing was already confused by her words, and now she was even more certain that her reaction was abnormal.

She took Molly's arm and looked at her: "Explain yourself, what do you mean by 'he agreed to help'?"

"I..." Molly lowered her head guiltily, "I looked for him..."

She knew that keeping it a secret would only make things worse, so she told Jiang Wanqing everything about how she had asked Zheng Yuan for help.
