Chapter 376 Showing Off One's Skills

Calculating the time, Du Heng waited for them at the entrance of the machinery factory. Upon hearing the sound of a car, he immediately craned his neck to look until the car stopped in front of him.

Jiang Wanqing and Du Ming got out of the car, and he immediately went over to them.

"Comrade Jiang, welcome to the Jiangnan Machinery Factory. I'll take you on a tour now."

“Brother, I’ll come along too. I can take your wife home after the tour,” Du Ming said.

"Don't follow me. Go to my office and rest. I'll come find you after I've shown Comrade Jiang around. There are some production processes that only people inside the factory can see. What are you going there for?" Du Heng explained.

Hearing this, Du Ming blinked, breathed a sigh of relief, and nodded.

"Well, thankfully Commander Cheng didn't come, otherwise he would have had to wait in the office like me."

"What do you mean? Commander Cheng wants to come too?"

"ah……"

Just as Du Ming was about to answer, Jiang Wanqing interrupted their conversation, twitching the corner of her mouth.

"Let's get back to business first. I have to go back after the tour. Please forgive me," she said to Du Heng.

The two brothers exchanged a glance, and Du Ming's eyes were full of apology.

"Oh, okay, then I'll take you inside first."

Du Heng gestured for Jiang Wanqing to come inside, then turned and winked at Du Ming, telling him to be smart and ask him about the situation later.

"Do you really have to rush back today? I was planning to treat you to a meal at the factory so you can experience our bustling work atmosphere. I've already made arrangements with the kitchen."

Jiang Wanqing understood that they were just trying to be hospitable, but she had her own conscience. Given Cheng Ran's condition today, she was worried about him staying outside for too long, so it was better for him to go back as soon as possible.

"Thank you for your kindness, but no need. I want to go back as soon as possible. We can talk about dinner next time. If the cooperation is successful, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet in the future. What do you say, Comrade Du?"

"Haha, that's true." Du Heng led her inside while they talked. "I guess you're in a hurry to go back to take care of Commander Cheng, but this can't go on forever. There will always be times when you can't get back to him in time because of the weather or other unforeseen circumstances. I wonder... what do you think of the suggestion I made last time, Comrade Jiang? I have a few good candidates here, all efficient and sensible older women. If you're willing..."

"No need, Cheng Ran doesn't like others touching him."

Jiang Wanqing directly refused. Du Heng was being too attentive in this matter, or perhaps he wanted her to focus entirely on her work and create the greatest value.

She thought for a moment and added, "I'm very efficient at work, it won't be a problem."

"Uh...that's not what I meant..."

He hurriedly tried to think of something to explain, but by then the two of them had already arrived at the factory, and Jiang Wanqing pointed to several large pieces of equipment.

"Those are your main mechanical forces?"

"Yes, I'll take you there to have a look."

The previous topic passed smoothly. Du Heng led Jiang Wanqing to the large machinery. A worker reluctantly greeted them, but his face was full of impatience with the work at hand, and he even cursed.

"What kind of crappy machines is the repair department fixing! So many defective parts, what a fucking waste of time!"

"May I take a look at it?"

Jiang Wanqing heard the worker cursing, walked over to him, and reached out her hand to ask for the freshly produced product.

"Little girl, this is no joke, do you understand?"

The worker casually tossed the product into her hand. The item, fresh from the machine, was still a little hot to the touch. Jiang Wanqing ignored his words and weighed the small part in her hand.

"Is there a problem with the production machinery?"

"Oh, you've got some skills after all. You didn't just guess because you overheard what I said, did you?"

"Hahaha……"

Upon hearing this, everyone else laughed, making no attempt to hide their mockery of Jiang Wanqing. Du Heng frowned and cleared his throat.

"Everyone, show some respect! This comrade is an expert from Beijing, a graduate of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She knows more than any of you. Just be humble and learn from her, and don't say so much!"

"Chief Engineer Du, are you telling the truth? This woman who looks like she can't lift a finger is an expert? I don't believe it."

The worker sized Jiang Wanqing up and down, but she wasn't annoyed. These people were proud, and she didn't need to argue with them; she just needed to show her true strength.

She looked at Du Heng and asked, "May I check the machine?"

"Of course," Du Heng agreed, then clapped his hands and told everyone who was working, "Workers on this production line, please stop for a moment."

"Chief Engineer Du, aren't you just making things worse? Once we stop, it won't be a short while. If things get even worse, then nobody will be able to work. The maintenance team hasn't even fixed it yet, and we're relying on a woman?"

"That's right, stop making things difficult for us. Who's going to compensate us for the time we've wasted?"

These people were indeed very enthusiastic about their work. They were using such dilapidated machines and they were even thinking about wasting time. Jiang Wanqing smiled.

"Please be quiet for a moment. I assure you, it will be no more than fifteen minutes before you resume normal production. Consider it as me going to the restroom and having a cigarette. Consider it a chance, how about it?"

When dealing with these people, you can't be too forceful. Jiang Wanqing chose to use a combination of soft and hard tactics, and gave Du Heng a wink.

He quickly retorted, "You stop just because I tell you to! You won't listen to me anymore, will you!"

"Alright, let's see what you're capable of, comrade!"

Provoked by this, everyone on the production line put down their tools and surrounded Jiang Wanqing, ostensibly wanting to see her skills, but in reality, they were unconvinced and wanted to see her make a fool of herself...

Jiang Wanqing calmly disassembled the machine, saw the messy lines inside, accurately found two of them with joint marks, pinched them, and pulled them apart.

She turned to Du Heng and asked, "Give me a knife and some tape."

"Alright, someone go and get it!" Du Heng ordered his workers.

"I have some here, take it."

A worker handed her his knife and duct tape, which Jiang Wanqing accepted and thanked him for.

She quickly cut the thread, severed the rotten part inside, and reconnected it, all while explaining.

"The repairmen didn't go in the wrong direction, but they only treated the symptoms, not the root cause. Simply wrapping up some broken wires wasn't enough."

After she finished explaining and wrapping the thread, she straightened the position of the thread inside, clapped her hands, and handed the knife and tape back.

"It's ready, you can open it and try it."

Someone glanced at their old-fashioned watch and realized it hadn't even been fifteen minutes, less than ten!

Du Heng personally turned on the machine and looked at the workers: "Now you can try it out and see how it works."

The others returned to their positions with some skepticism and began to work. To their surprise, the parts they made were indeed flawless!
