Chapter 434 The Threat Arrives

It was already evening when the family left the hospital. The sky outside was dark. Cheng Ran took off his coat and wrapped it around Jiang Wanqing, holding her in his arms as if afraid she would catch a chill.

Watch your step.

As they descended the steps, Xue He stepped forward to help him. Jiang Jianguo, still shaken and worried about the possibility of more criminals appearing, cautiously looked around.

"Let's go home."

Cheng Ran protected Jiang Wanqing's head, watched her get into the car safely, and then drove away from the hospital and back home.

Completely conscious, Jiang Wanqing didn't sleep all night, and Cheng Ran stayed up with her all night, the lingering warmth in his arms comforting her.

“I’ve already had the police keep an eye on Su Su. They’ll take action immediately if she makes any move.”

"No, she's not Su Su...she's Jiang Xiu, ruthless and without any moral bottom line!"

Jiang Wanqing's eyes were red. She still had a question in her mind. She had already made a plan and implemented it. In theory, Su Su had received a lot of orders. At least for now, there were no problems. Why did she suddenly go crazy and kidnap Nannan?

Didn't that woman know how serious the consequences would be? Or was she simply looking for revenge? Or perhaps... someone else was behind the kidnapping...?

Jiang Wanqing feared the latter possibility the most, which would mean that all their guesses would be overturned, and the worst possibility was that Nannan had been abducted by human traffickers...

Thinking about all this, Jiang Wanqing couldn't control her emotions, and tears soaked Cheng Ran's chest.

The two of them stayed awake until dawn, without resting or closing their eyes. The next day, Xue He brought breakfast into their room.

"Cheng Ran, Wan Qing, you two should eat something. No matter how healthy you are, you can't withstand this kind of strain. Don't let your health deteriorate before Nannan comes back."

She earnestly advised them, saying that they were already struggling to cope with the loss of their daughter, but now that their daughter and son-in-law were in such a state, they had no choice but to pull themselves together, otherwise they would be completely ruined.

"Knock knock knock..."

There was a knock on the door, and the three of them looked out at the same time.

"Is anyone home? There's a letter here addressed to Comrade Jiang Wanqing!"

Jiang Wanqing's lifeless eyes immediately lit up, and she grabbed Cheng Ran's hand.

"It's my letter, could it be kidnappers... Quick... Take me out to see!"

"good."

Be careful.

Xue He watched nervously as Cheng Ran helped Jiang Wanqing out, almost unable to breathe. The two of them had stayed up all night, and she was really afraid that their bodies couldn't take it.

The couple helped each other out of the yard. Jiang Jianguo had already opened the door and taken the letter. The person who delivered the letter was not the postman, but a little child who looked dirty all over. Jiang Wanqing frowned.

"Dad, the letter..."

"Oh, here it is." Jiang Jianguo pointed to the child. "This is the messenger. I asked him who sent him, and he said it was a woman. I guess it's Su Su, just like you and Cheng Ran guessed!"

Jiang Wanqing glanced at her mother, Xue He, who immediately understood and gave the child who delivered the letter some food and some change.

"Go."

Jiang Wanqing took the letter from Jiang Jianguo and eagerly opened it, but she was also afraid of breaking it, so she was careful and cautious, her hands trembling slightly.

The letter, still stained with ink, was clearly recently written.

The text above was concise, with an address and a date attached. The handwriting was Jiang Xiu's, who is now Su Su.

"Su Su asked me to meet her!"

Jiang Wanqing gritted her teeth. It really was that woman! A persistent ghost, with a ruthless heart!

"I'll go in your place!"

Without thinking, Cheng Ran gently released Jiang Wanqing's hand, intending to take the letter, but Jiang Wanqing suddenly clenched it and shook her head.

"No, I want to go myself. She wants to see me. This is a grudge between us, and she won't rest until she sees me."

"How can that be! You're pregnant and weak; going to see that woman would be like walking into a tiger's den!"

Xue He was the first to disagree and immediately stood in front of Jiang Wanqing.

"Either Cheng Ran goes, or your dad and I go. You just stay home and rest. Don't worry about the baby in your belly, just think about yourself. Nannan is your child, and you are my child too. How can Mom not worry about you!"

The hearts of parents are always full of love and concern. Jiang Wanqing's eyes welled up with tears, and she stepped forward.

"I'm sorry, Mom, but I'm keeping my promise!" Her tone left no room for argument. "Even if it means death, I will bring Nannan back. If I return safely, I will explain everything to you. If not..."

Jiang Wanqing turned to look at Cheng Ran and gave a slight smile.

“You already know my situation very well. If something happens to me, you must tell my parents about those things. You know what I mean.”

Cheng Ran's eyes darkened, and he clenched his fists, knowing that Jiang Wanqing would not change her mind.

"Okay, I promise you."

"Cheng Ran!" Xue He's eyes widened. "You..."

"Mom, I won't let anything happen to Wanqing. She'll go, and I'll protect her."

Although he couldn't go in her place, he could go with her to protect her. He would just stay out of sight. If it really came to a critical moment, he would risk his life to ensure that nothing happened to her.

Xue He's legs went weak; she knew she had no choice but to go. She wept silently in anguish, and Jiang Jianguo supported her arm and patted it.

“Let them go, we…we’ve prepared everything, we’ve lived long enough anyway, if anything happens to them, we…”

"I understand, I understand..."

It's too late to stop them now. Everyone has a part of their heart that they can't touch. Nannan is the apple of this family's eye, the apple of their eye. If something happens to her, this family will never be the same again, unless she comes back unharmed.

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained," Jiang Wanqing thought, turning back to her room to tidy herself up.

She couldn't allow herself to be in this state when facing Su Su, or rather, Jiang Xiu.

This wouldn't elicit any pity from the woman; it would only embolden her. After all, that person always aimed to surpass her, and if she failed, she would resort to underhanded and unethical means...

Jiang Wanqing didn't want to lose face, much less lose her dignity!

She changed into a neat outfit, and before leaving, Cheng Ran slipped a folding knife into her hand.

"As long as you're alive, if necessary... never show mercy."

She bit her lip, put the knife away, put it in her pocket, and nodded emphatically.

"Um!"

She had barely left when Cheng Ran gathered some people he trusted and chased after her.

Su Su's place was the Jiangnan factory. As soon as she arrived, Jiang Wanqing was stunned by the scene before her.

The place was empty, meaning Su Su hadn't started working after receiving the order. In the empty space, she was all alone. Footsteps echoed as Jiang Wanqing walked up behind her.

"I'm here! Where's my daughter?!"

Su Su turned her head, looked Jiang Wanqing up and down, curled her lips, took two steps forward, grabbed her hand, took out a knife from her pocket, and threw it into the corner with a thud.

"I won't give you the chance to kill me first!"
