Chapter 84 The Admission Blunder

"Knock knock knock..."

One morning, Jiang Wanqing had just woken up and was about to go back to sleep when a sudden, loud knocking on the door jolted her awake.

"Wanqing! Open the door quickly! Good news..."

Before I even saw her, I heard Molly's voice, breathless, she must have run over, her excitement barely concealed.

Stretching, Jiang Wanqing put on a coat, casually ruffled her hair a couple of times, and went to open the door.

Molly was about to knock on the door again when she leaned forward. The door suddenly opened, and she almost fell over, but she still had a smile on her face.

"What good news is it that made you rush over so early in the morning? Come in, sit down for a bit, and catch your breath before we talk."

Jiang Wanqing didn't spoil her mood and even thoughtfully poured her water, even though she herself was still a little sleepy.

"Look what this is!"

She then noticed that Molly had been keeping her hands behind her back since she came in.

“????????…”

Molly took out the unopened acceptance letter and held it high.

Jiang Wanqing's eyes flickered; all sleepiness vanished, replaced by joy. She took the item and glanced at it.

"An acceptance letter?"

"Yes! I got into Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wanqing!"

She jumped up happily, hugged Jiang Wanqing tightly, and nimbly spun around.

The room was filled with a joyful atmosphere. Molly and her friend opened the acceptance letter together. The handwritten lettering on it, like the majesty of the University of Washington, inspired awe in everyone who saw it.

Did you receive it too?

"I have not."

Jiang Wanqing answered truthfully, shaking her head. Admission notices are sent out at the same time, but they may not arrive in the hands of the admitted students at the same moment. It's just a matter of time, and she's not in a hurry.

"Ah, maybe it hasn't been delivered here yet."

"Hmm, maybe." Jiang Wanqing patted Molly's arm encouragingly: "Congratulations! You can go home now, and you can live at home from now on."

"It's all thanks to you. Without you, how could I have gotten into Huada University? Although it's not a popular major at the school, it was still worth it."

With a contented and happy attitude, Molly carefully stuck the acceptance letter to her chest like a precious treasure.

Just then, the postman's voice came from downstairs.

"Is Comrade Cheng Ran home? There's a letter for you, come and get it!"

"See? What I said came true! It must be your acceptance letter!"

Molly was much happier than Jiang Wanqing. She put down her acceptance letter and was the first to run out and call out to the postman.

"Here, we'll get started."

As she spoke, she excitedly pulled Jiang Wanqing outside, walked up to the postman, and looked at the dark green messenger bag.

"Which one of you is Comrade Cheng Ran? Here is a letter from him."

"Cheng Ran? Wasn't it for Jiang Wanqing?" Molly asked, puzzled.

The postman thought he had made a mistake, so he took out the envelope, looked at it twice more, and nodded seriously.

"That's right, you're talking about Jiang Wanqing... I really don't have any letters about her." The postman scratched his head.

"Impossible! Her acceptance letter should have been sent out by now. We applied to the same school, and I received mine."

Throughout the entire conversation, Molly spoke up for Jiang Wanqing; her anxiety and concern were genuine.

"Well... how about I help you look again?"

The acceptance letter was a big deal, and the postman didn't dare to be negligent. He searched through all the letters in the bag and shook his head in distress.

"I'm sorry, we don't have one. Could you tell me which school's admission notice it is? It might still be at the bureau. I'll bring it over for you this afternoon."

"Baidu!" Molly answered quickly.

Jiang Wanqing remained calm, simply nodding in agreement.

"It's BGI, please take a look and send it to me as soon as possible."

"That's strange..." the postman said tactfully as he searched, "There were only a few admission notices from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The post office said to prioritize their delivery, and they've all been delivered... none were missed."

"How is that possible!"

Molly didn't believe it and rushed forward to search for it herself, but luckily Jiang Wanqing stopped her in time.

"Don't be impulsive, this comrade is just here to deliver a letter." Jiang Wanqing extended her hand: "I am Cheng Ran's wife, I'm here to receive it on his behalf."

"Oh, okay, I'll look into that notification letter for you when I get back to the bureau. I'll let you know as soon as I have any news."

"Thanks."

"You're welcome, it's my duty."

The postman responded and hurried away, afraid that Molly would hold him accountable and demand an explanation.

As soon as he left, Molly couldn't hold back anymore. She was even more anxious than Jiang Wanqing, the person involved. Her joy vanished, replaced by worry.

"I've already received my admission letter from the University of Washington, so you must have received one too. Could it have gotten lost in the mail?"

"Don't worry, didn't you hear what the delivery guy said? There are only a few admission notices from Huada University. They know how many there are, so it's unlikely that they would get lost. I'll call and find out."

"But you..."

“When I visited Professor Xue at Huazhong University of Science and Technology last time, I got his phone number.”

"Very good!"

Despite her fluctuating emotions, Molly was still worried and accompanied Jiang Wanqing to make a phone call.

The number didn't belong to Professor Xue personally, but to the office of a college under Huazhong University of Science and Technology. When they called, Professor Xue wasn't there, and a very impatient teacher answered the phone.

The other party's tone was extremely rude: "If you have an acceptance letter, you either have one or you haven't been admitted. Is that so hard to understand? Try again next year! Look for the reasons within yourself. Questioning the school and teachers is not the right thing to do!"

Jiang Wanqing was clearly very polite, but she was stunned by this reply. Molly was even angrier and grabbed the phone, yelling at the other end.

"How could Huada University have a teacher like you! What do you mean by looking for the cause within yourself? Hey... explain yourself clearly..."

The call was disconnected. Molly said "hello" a few times, then, so angry she almost ground her teeth to powder, spat out a curse.

"Who is he?! Do you even know him? How could he say such a thing? If the University of Washington doesn't admit you, who else would they admit!"

Jiang Wanqing's composure gradually turned into a deep-seated unease. With her grades, she was more than qualified for Huazhong University of Science and Technology, so not receiving an admission letter was truly puzzling...

She lowered her head and pondered for a moment, but still felt that there was no need to rush.

"Let's go back first, I'll go to the post office and ask tomorrow."

"That's the only way. I'll stay with you."

"good."

The two returned to the family compound together. Molly had become a regular there, and everyone was used to seeing her.

Cheng Ran heard her complaining from afar when she got home, and thought it was someone from the school causing trouble again...

Upon closer listening, it turned out she was actually cursing Huada University!

He frowned as he walked into the room: "What are you talking about? What happened to Huada?"

He saw the admission notice on the table and subconsciously thought it was Jiang Wanqing's. He picked it up with delight, but his expression changed after seeing the name of the person who accepted him.

"Why is there only one acceptance letter?"

"We want to know too."

Jiang Wanqing shrugged, a hint of disappointment in her eyes, but not enough to make her lose control of her emotions.

She told Cheng Ran what had happened, and he was even more shocked than before.

"No acceptance letter?! That's absurd!" he said angrily, raising his voice.
