Chapter 4 Chapter 4 I have to take responsibility.
When she was about to finish the last bottle of medicine, Lin Mo received a call from the airport staff.
She said a man picked up her phone, but because he had to leave in a hurry, he didn't have time to wait for the owner. He wanted to charge the phone and turn it on before contacting the owner, but the phone could not be charged. So, he could only try to contact the airport service center after he finished his work to see if the owner had looked for it.
Based on the staff's description, Lin Mo was sure that it was her own mobile phone.
"It's okay, as long as you've found it. Did he say when he'd return it? If it's convenient, I can call a 'flash delivery' and pick it up where he is. Or, if you can give me his contact information, I'll contact him directly to express my gratitude."
The staff member explained, "I'm afraid that's not possible. That gentleman is very, very sorry. He's attending an event in a completely enclosed area for the next three days. He'll hand his phone in after he calls us. He won't be able to contact the outside world until the event is over in three days. He told us in advance because he's worried you might be worried."
After hearing this, Lin Mo felt something was strange, but it was always a good thing to be able to get it back, and a stone in her heart finally fell to the ground.
The doctor just said she had to be hospitalized for three days, and it was a holiday during that time, so she had to wait patiently.
But I can’t keep Lu Yanxiao’s phone with me for three days.
This phone should be his regular phone. Someone kindly lent it to her, so she can't just ignore it.
Moreover, since she lent her the phone, she had already received three calls and five text messages, and she told Lu Yanxiao everything. In three days, there would definitely be more calls, which would be quite troublesome.
It was getting late, so she decided to go back home tomorrow morning, dig out her old phone, buy a temporary card, and ask the airport staff to contact her with her new number.
*
The next day the weather cleared up and the morning light was warm.
Lin Mo slept soundly that night. She got up early in the morning and washed up. After the doctor finished his rounds at 8 o'clock, she changed her clothes and packed up, ready to sneak back home.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she opened the door of the ward and stuck her head out, someone stood in front of her.
It was a man, wearing a colorful down jacket, his hair meticulously combed. He was holding a bouquet of lilies in his arms and a large fruit basket in his hands. He grinned condescendingly and waved at her, "Lin Mo?"
Lin Mo was surprised. She didn't know this person: "Who are you?"
"Yu Ke, I called you yesterday, did you forget?"
Lin Mo's flamboyant yet familiar tone reminded her of the call she'd accidentally answered the previous night. She couldn't understand why the other person was here. Could it be that he hadn't confirmed it with Lu Yanxiao yesterday, and had come to her early this morning to call her to task?
Lin Mo anxiously defended herself: "I told you very clearly yesterday that it was Mr. Lu who lent me the phone."
"Don't be nervous, don't be nervous. I've asked."
Yu Ke smiled carelessly, revealing his neat white teeth, and thrust the bouquet toward her. "I came all the way here to apologize to you. I was reckless yesterday. I'm sorry!"
Without waiting for her response, Yu Ke walked into the ward carrying the fruit basket, looking as comfortable and at ease as if he was back home.
Come here specially to apologize?
A bit exaggerated.
Lin Mo didn't know how to respond for a moment, so she had no choice but to follow him in and said with a smile, "It's okay, no need to be so polite."
"Are you going out? Aren't you in the hospital?" Yu Ke pointed at the backpack on her back.
"I'll be getting an IV drip this afternoon. I have something to run out for. I'll be back soon."
As soon as he finished speaking, he looked up and saw four people standing at the door of the ward: a doctor, a nurse, Lu Yanxiao and his subordinates.
Lin Mo's smile froze on her face, like a student who had skipped class and was caught by the teacher. She clutched the shoulder straps of her backpack awkwardly, not sure if they had heard her.
The male doctor spoke first, "Ms. Lin, patients are not allowed to go out without permission during hospitalization. Your gastroenteritis was so severe yesterday. If something unexpected happens outside, it would be irresponsible to your health."
Of course Lin Mo knew these basic common sense, but she felt that there was nothing wrong with her body.
Now that she had heard it, she no longer hid it and gently discussed it with the doctor: "Doctor, I came to the hospital directly from the airport yesterday and didn't bring anything with me, so I want to go home to get some things. I must go and come back quickly, is that okay..."
The doctor shook his head apologetically.
She wanted to argue again, but before she could say anything, Lu Yanxiao, who had been gloomy all the time, spoke up, speaking coldly to the doctor, with a very aggressive tone: "Doctor Zheng, when did your hospital's VIP ward become unable to meet the basic needs of patients?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the air at the scene froze.
Yu Ke said "Ouch" and tried to smooth things over, but when he met Lu Yanxiao's eyes, he swallowed the rest of his words.
Lin Mo didn't expect that she would draw the fire to others. Feeling guilty, she quickly explained, "No, the ward is fully equipped. I just wanted to go back for something."
Lu Yanxiao's eyes glared at her, "Ms. Lin, I signed your hospitalization documents. I'll be held responsible if anything goes wrong."
The implication is, don't cause me trouble.
She was in the wrong to begin with. She had originally intended to sneak out and come back quickly, but she hadn't expected it to end up like this. Lin Mo breathed a sigh of relief, deciding to take care of her own mistakes. She took off her backpack and made amends in a serious tone, "I was inconsiderate. I won't be going out. I'm sorry."
"That's right! Just stay and treat the patient, don't run around." Yu Ke smiled at her, jumped up from the sofa, and hooked his arm around Dr. Zheng's neck. "Come on, come on, let's go to the meeting. What time is it?"
It turned out that they came to the hospital for a meeting.
After a few people left, the nurse told her that the hospital's artificial intelligence medical robot was a product invested by Lu Group. It was currently in the trial period of a new model. They came to inspect, hold meetings, and understand the actual usage effects.
"However, before, only Mr. Yu brought people here. I didn't expect that this time, Mr. Xiao would come in person. The hospital attached great importance to it and sent many leaders to attend the meeting. He repeatedly instructed us to entertain them well."
"How long do they usually patrol?" Lin Mo asked.
"It depends. Sometimes it's two or three days, sometimes it's a week."
Lin Mo sighed. It seemed that she would have to stay in the hospital for the next three days.
Perhaps to prevent her from leaving without permission again, another artificial intelligence was brought into the ward. It stood in the middle of the ward like a guard, and a pair of bright eyes on the screen moved around.
The nurse said that this robot can be used to take orders and deliver food, play music, movies and TV series, and chat with patients.
Lin Mo was so bored that she tried all its functions.
The more I try, the more itchy I become, and I desperately want to find someone to share and discuss with.
So, with a try-it-out attitude, he turned on his computer and sent Lu Yanxiao a message: "Mr. Lu, can I use your phone to take photos and videos of the robots in the ward? Send them to my computer after you're done. Don't worry, I promise I won't mess around with my photo album."
After waiting for about half a minute, Lu Yanxiao replied with two words: [Waiting.]
Lin Mo was confused.
A minute later, the nurse pushed the door open and said that Mr. Xiao asked her to take her somewhere.
Lin Mo's father was a doctor in another hospital, so she was familiar with the hospital environment. It didn't take long for her to realize that the place she was being taken to should be the conference room area, where Lu Yanxiao and others were currently holding a meeting.
Lin Mo was excited. Was she going to sit in on their meeting?
Sure enough, the nurse took her to the hospital's largest conference room.
The tables and chairs in the conference room were cleared away, and dozens of artificial intelligence products were densely placed in the middle. In addition to the most basic service robots, there were also machines specifically used to assist doctors in diagnosis and treatment, machines to assist patients in recovery, and so on.
At this time, Lu Yanxiao, his subordinates, and relevant hospital personnel were standing outside. Yu Ke was standing at the front, holding a tablet and operating the machine.
When Lin Mo came in, everyone looked over.
She was wearing a hospital gown, and some hospital staff thought she was a patient who had gone to the wrong place, and shouted at the nurse: "What's going on? Hurry and take her away..."
"I asked her to come."
A cold and domineering voice interrupted the man. Everyone was startled and clearly felt the oppressive feeling in Lu Yanxiao's tone that did not allow for any argument. The man immediately shut up.
When he looked at Lin Mo again, Lu Yanxiao beckoned her and said in a faint voice, "Come here."
Lin Mo originally planned to come in quietly and stand in an inconspicuous corner to "broaden her horizons", but she didn't expect it to be such a scene. Now she was in a dilemma and could only bite the bullet and walk to Lu Yanxiao under the gaze of everyone.
After the brief interlude, the meeting continued, with Yu Ke demonstrating the operation and explaining at the same time.
These were all areas of interest to Lin Mo. After a while, the nervousness and embarrassment she had just felt disappeared completely, and she immersed herself in the explanation and demonstration. She was so excited that she couldn't wait to raise her hand to ask questions.
Some of the surrounding hospital staff were filming with their phones, while others were taking notes in their notebooks. Lin Mo couldn't help herself and leaned over to Lu Yanxiao's ear, whispering, "Can I use your phone to film?"
A sweet breeze brushed past his ears, and Lu Yanxiao's brows twitched, his heart skipping a beat. He glanced sideways, only to meet the girl's moist, sparkling almond-shaped eyes, staring at him expectantly. How could he refuse? He wished he could give her every device in the room and let her play with them however she pleased.
Lu Yanxiao's Adam's apple rolled, he looked away, and hummed in a calm manner.
"Thank you." Lin Mo couldn't wait to raise her phone and take a lot of pictures.
Her current job is aircraft design and development. Some things in science and engineering are interconnected, and she has always been interested in mechanics. As she filmed, watched, and listened, she became eager to try her hand at it.
The meeting lasted about an hour, and when it ended, Lin Mo was still reluctant to leave.
When they started to leave one after another, she did not leave in a hurry. She stared at Lu Yanxiao, as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.
"Is there a problem?" Lu Yanxiao seemed to have guessed what she was thinking.
Lin Mo curled her eyes and nodded frequently, but her words were very tough.
"Your products are practical and forward-looking, but there's one thing I'm curious about." Lin Mo pointed to the large device in the center. "How do you handle the imbalance in the algorithms used to process medical imaging data?"
"Oh my god! Lin Mo, what are you doing? I thought you were here to watch the fun. Did you understand everything that just now?!" Yu Ke opened his eyes exaggeratedly.
"No, no, I only have a vague understanding. I'm involved in aircraft design and development, so we can share some of the information."
"Plane?! No wonder, no wonder..." Yu Ke acted as if he suddenly realized something, turned around and exchanged glances with Dr. Zheng, the expression on his face seemed to say "I knew it".
Lu Yanxiao just felt that the two people were too annoying, so he gave them a glare, asking them to behave themselves, and then patiently answered Lin Mo's questions.
Lin Mo originally thought that Lu Yanxiao was the heir to the group and a rich second-generation, and didn't understand these technical issues very well. Unexpectedly, he could explain them so clearly and in a simple and easy-to-understand way, so she started to discuss them with him.
They were chatting enthusiastically when suddenly, Lu Yanxiao's expression froze. He suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her over.
It happened too suddenly. Before she could react, she felt a force on her wrist and let out a soft "Ah!" before crashing into the man's solid chest. Through the thin shirt, she could clearly feel his violent heartbeat beneath his chest. The faint woody fragrance also penetrated her nose in time. She stood still as if she had been aroused.
"Sorry, it was a mistake. Are you okay?" Yu Ke raised his hands and apologized repeatedly.
Lin Mo regained consciousness and immediately jumped out of Lu Yanxiao's arms. She moved two steps to the side and saw that it was a robot operated by Yu Ke that was rushing towards her. In order to avoid the robot, Lu Yanxiao pulled her.
Lin Mo shook her head to indicate that she was fine.
To ease the awkwardness of the unexpected physical contact, she laughed heartily and said to Lu Yanxiao, "Thank you. It's all thanks to you just now. If it weren't for you, I, a patient, would have been even more injured."
As he spoke, he glanced at the time on his phone screen and said, "Oh, I have to go back for my IV. I'll be leaving now."
"Wait."
Just after taking two steps, she heard Lu Yanxiao's voice from behind. Lin Mo turned around with a smile on her face, waiting for his next words.
Lu Yanxiao, "Don't worry about the phone. I'll return it after I'm discharged from the hospital."
"Okay." Lin Mo pretended to be relaxed and nodded with a smile.
