Regarding the incident of Zhou Ling being slapped.
Zhou Chen only had two words to say: "Serves you right!"
Cheating, gambling, domestic violence—these are just parts of Zhao Kun's true nature. You, Zhou Ling, will gradually learn how bad your judgment in choosing men is, how ridiculous your insistence on love is, and how pathetic it is to want happiness.
This is just the beginning; the truly miserable days are yet to come.
The next day
Zhou Chen got up early and practiced the "Eight Vajra Skills" with Tang Wu in the morning sun. After more than ten minutes, they finished practicing, and Zhou Chen, covered in sweat, started jogging along the road.
After my morning run, I returned to my neighborhood.
Just as I was about to reach the stairs in front of my house
Tang Wu immediately became alert upon seeing two figures loitering in front of the door, and stood in front of Zhou Chen, looking wary.
Because these two people were dressed in all black, wearing hats and masks that covered their faces, and looking furtive, they didn't seem like good people at first glance.
However, Zhou Chen saw a familiar shadow.
"It's me. Tell him to move aside. I have something to say to you."
Zhou Lao Er pulled down his mask, revealing half of his face to prove his identity. He pointed at Tang Wu, because he had witnessed Tang Wu's prowess before and dared not get too close to him.
"I have nothing to say to you. You are not welcome in my home."
Zhou Chen didn't give Zhou Lao Er a friendly look; his eyes were cold and his tone was icy.
“Zhou Chen, my dad and I are here to apologize to you. Please don’t be unreasonable. As long as you withdraw the lawsuit, we promise we will not bother you again or cause you any more trouble.”
Zhou Nan stepped forward and spoke.
"Apologize?"
Zhou Chen chuckled, "Sorry, I don't need it. As for the lawsuit, I certainly won't withdraw it."
Now that you know to bow your head and apologize, what were you thinking when you were collectively slandering us? The reason you apologized was probably because you were afraid of taking legal responsibility and were worried about the compensation.
Some people only regret their actions and lower their stance when faced with unbearable consequences. But this does not mean they are truly remorseful; rather, it is the price of not admitting their mistakes that they cannot afford.
Zhou Chen doesn't need to apologize. If apologies were enough, what would be the point of having Uncle Hat?
If he didn't have video evidence, the father and son would never apologize to him; instead, they would be smug and laugh at him as if they were the victors.
There is no need to be kind to such people.
Because when they hurt you, all they think about is killing you to the maximum extent possible.
“Nephew, this was my idea, and I was wrong. I apologize to you. You can ask me to bow my head or kneel down today, as long as you are willing to drop the lawsuit, I will do whatever you want.”
“We really can’t come up with that much money to compensate you. Can you please let us off the hook? Even if it’s just for the sake of your deceased father, and because we all share the same surname, Zhou, and are related by blood, please spare us this time. I swear I will never cause you any more trouble in the future.”
Zhou Lao Er spoke in a low voice, his previous arrogance and domineering manner gone, replaced by a pitiful air.
"Oh? Then Second Uncle, kneel down and let me see!"
Zhou Chen remained expressionless and spoke calmly.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Nan's face darkened with anger. "Zhou Chen, don't go too far. We've already been lenient by bowing our heads to you. Let bygones be bygones; don't push things too far..."
"So what if it's too much? Are you going to fight me to the death again?" Zhou Chen interrupted him mercilessly.
Zhou Nan's expression changed again, realizing that Zhou Chen had said something similar before mocking them, but the result was their crushing defeat.
"Xiao Nan, shut up."
Zhou Lao Er suddenly scolded Zhou Nan, and Zhou Nan's expression changed slightly. In the end, he obediently retreated.
Zhou Lao Er then turned to Zhou Chen and said, "Nephew, I'll kneel down for you. As long as you're happy, satisfied, and willing to withdraw the lawsuit, I'll kneel down right now."
“Dad, if you have to kneel, I will kneel. Zhou Chen, I will kneel in place of my dad.”
Zhou Nan's eyes reddened; he didn't want to see his father kneeling before Zhou Chen.
"It's not your turn, get out of here."
Zhou Lao Er roared again, and the father and son began to argue over who should kneel down.
"If all else fails, you two can kneel down together."
Zhou Chen grinned, interrupting their argument.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Lao Er and Zhou Nan both paled, feeling deeply humiliated. However, they knew they couldn't get angry. They had come to ask Zhou Chen to withdraw the lawsuit, and if they couldn't, the enormous compensation alone would be beyond the means of the entire Zhou family.
Are you going to kneel or not?
Seeing the two of them dawdling, Zhou Chen yawned, walked up to them, took out his key, and opened the door.
"If you don't kneel, I'll close the door."
"We kneel."
Seeing that Zhou Chen was really about to close the door, Zhou Lao Er immediately steeled his heart and knelt down on the ground with a thud.
“Zhou Chen, my dad is kneeling down to you. You can have your lawyer withdraw the lawsuit now.”
Zhou Nan's eyes were bloodshot as he urged.
Why should I withdraw?
Zhou Chen feigned a question and said with a smile.
"Are you playing us?"
Zhou Nan was instantly enraged, clenching his fists in anger.
"I only asked you to kneel, but I didn't promise you that kneeling would mean dropping the charges. If you don't believe me, I can play the recording from earlier for you. Do you want to hear it?"
Zhou Chen took out a voice recorder and twirled it in his hand.
"Zhou Chen, you despicable scoundrel, aren't you afraid of divine retribution?" Seeing that Zhou Chen had a voice recorder and recorded the entire conversation, Zhou Nan thought of the previous call records and the secretly filmed video that Zhou Chen had taken out. Instantly, he felt an urge to tear Zhou Chen apart.
