Chapter 114 N - Apology
Although Li Shuying verbally disagreed, Chu Beiling knew that as long as he and Xing Xingyu were doing well enough, she would no longer object.
After being bothered by Xiao Qiezi all night and running around, Chu Beiling was no longer sleepy at all, and even started teasing Xing Yu.
"As expected of my boyfriend, he won over Ms. Li and her sister in just one afternoon." He glanced at Xing Yu beside him and said with a smile.
Xing Yu glanced at him briefly, then looked at the road conditions: "What's wrong, are you jealous?"
"Yeah~ You decide." Chu Beiling leaned against the armrest with one hand, tilting her head lazily.
Xing Yu's lips curled into a slight smile as he slowly asked, "Is it alright to add some Sichuan peppercorns to the cold dish?"
Chu Beiling stopped joking around with him. He was now itching to know how Xing Yu had managed to handle his two darlings: "So, what exactly did you say?"
Xing Yu: "Curiosity killed the cat."
Chu Beiling was momentarily speechless at these words, and gave a curt "tsk" in annoyance. She then turned her head to look out the window, presenting the back of her head to Xing Yu, using her actions to protest her dissatisfaction with "if you don't want to talk, then don't."
The streets were quiet at night, and only their car was driving on the wide elevated road. This solitude gave rise to a sense of laziness.
Chu Beiling was gazing absently at the twinkling lights on both banks of the Qiantang River when Xing Yu's voice suddenly came from behind her: "Chu Beiling."
"Hmm?" He glanced sideways.
"Would you like to come with me to sign a guardianship agreement in a few days?"
The guide lights outside the car window flashed by like fireflies, making Xing Yu's profile appear somewhat hazy.
His voice was low and seductive, especially alluring in the night. Chu Beiling's heart skipped a beat, then she smiled and agreed, "Okay."
Thus, the matter of appointing guardianship was settled. In the past few days, besides being busy with company projects, Chu Beiling has been busy sorting out his assets.
Sensitive as he was, Chu Beiling vaguely sensed another meaning behind the black card Li Shuying had given him.
As Chu Beiling was flipping through the black card in her hand, feeling a headache coming on, there was a knock on the office door, and then Fu Xingzhou walked in.
He casually stuffed the card back into his pocket and took the documents from Fu Xingzhou's hand.
"Did Aunt Li go back?" Fu Xingzhou sat down in front of him, holding a cup of coffee.
Chu Beiling: "In a couple of days."
Fu Xingzhou picked up his coffee, took a sip, and said leisurely, "Is everything settled?"
"At least they won't protest or flip the table anymore." He flipped through the documents without looking up.
Fu Xingzhou nodded, half-jokingly: "It wasn't easy~ Eighteen years of hardship in a cold cave, the ugly daughter-in-law has finally become a mother-in-law." He clapped his hands: "Applause for you."
Chu Beiling: "Thank you."
Fu Xingzhou: "I prefer something more practical, like a Cullinan, Romanée-Conti, Patek Philippe, you can decide what to get."
Chu Beiling: "Are you still dreaming?"
Fu Xingzhou laughed a few times, feeling relaxed, and added two more sugar cubes to his coffee.
"Use 3D-VR to create an otome game that allows users to immerse themselves in and interact with a computer simulation environment." Chu Beiling carefully read the document, then looked up at him: "Are you serious?"
Fu Xingzhou looked at him: "What do you think?"
"Low hardware penetration, huge development costs, lack of user habits, and high barriers to entry for users..."
Chu Beiling stopped halfway through his speech. Since Fu Xingzhou had handed him the documents, it meant that he had already thought it through.
Fu Xingzhou raised his chin: "Give it a try. The female-oriented market, especially otome games, is the most advanced in China in terms of market understanding and the fastest developing. Ordinary apps are already a red ocean, but the integration with VR is still a blue ocean. We can fill the gap in our global portfolio and create the world's first VR otome game ecosystem."
Chu Beiling understood that high opportunities meant high risks. VR represented immersion, and there was no such game on the market. Whoever took the lead in this area and built a strong content and user ecosystem would control the future.
Competing on art, storyline, and marketing in the app market is costly and has low odds of success. VR is a completely new ecosystem, far more competitive than the traditional track of infighting and catching up.
Chu Beiling: "Okay, I'll arrange and carry it out."
Fu Xingzhou: "There's a reason why I like you."
Chu Beiling casually grabbed a digestive tablet from the table and tossed it into his arms: "Here, help with your digestion."
Fu Xingzhou laughed twice, then glanced at his wrist, which was exposed from the movement, and saw a conspicuous purplish-red mark: "I didn't expect you to go this far!!"
Chu Beiling was stunned for a moment, and when she followed his gaze, her face immediately turned red.
He awkwardly pulled out his sleeve to cover the mark, then mentally stabbed Xing Yu ten thousand times, and then stabbed Fu Xingzhou hundreds of times.
Fu Xingzhou didn't let him off the hook: "Why don't you give up on President Xing's embrace and come to me instead? I'm gentler than him."
Just as Chu Beiling was about to retort, her phone on the table rang, accompanied by Xing Yu's special notification tone.
Both of them looked over at the same time.
Fu Xingzhou's teasing smile deepened, "Oh ho, here to check up on things. President Xing, you've timed this perfectly."
Chu Beiling gave him a disgruntled look and answered the phone.
Xing Yu said, "I'll be there in half an hour. Oh, and make sure your sleeves are rolled up."
"..." Chu Beiling uttered each word clearly: "Yes, I understand."
Xing Yu: "What's wrong? Your voice sounds off."
Looking at Fu Xingzhou's cheerful demeanor, Chu Beiling wished she could crawl along the phone line and cut Xing Yu, the culprit, to pieces: "It's okay, I still have a project to discuss, I'll get back to you in a bit."
Xing Yu nodded: "Okay." He checked again, still not entirely sure: "Are you sure you're alright?"
Chu Beiling: "It's alright for now."
But something happened soon enough.
As he hung up, Fu Xingzhou burst out laughing, while Chu Beiling was both embarrassed and angry: "Once you've finished talking about business, get out of here and don't get in my way."
"Alright, alright, I'll get out of here right away. After all, someone's coming over to pick up the kid for some serious business later." Fu Xingzhou knew when to stop, but couldn't help but tease, "Really not coming with me?"
Chu Beiling bluntly stated: "I dare to go with you, do you dare to take me?"
"I... I really wouldn't dare." Fu Xingzhou knew his own limitations; he wasn't a man of lasting affection.
Back then, part of the reason was that Chu Beiling had someone in his heart. Even if he didn't believe that anyone would wait for someone forever, he still felt it was unnecessary, and that was one of the reasons.
—Chu Beiling, he deserves someone better.
But he wasn't.
Fu Xingzhou stood up and straightened his wrinkled suit: "I'm not going to waste time talking to you. I have to meet a business partner in a bit, and I'll be going back to Singapore this afternoon. Don't miss me too much."
Chu Beiling stood up to see him off, saying, "As long as you're not afraid of having nightmares."
Fu Xingzhou stepped forward, patted him on the shoulder, and said earnestly, "Young man, take care of your health and restrain yourself. Otherwise, what will happen if you ruin yourself? Who will make money for me then?"
Chu Beiling made a throat-slitting gesture.
Fu Xingzhou chuckled softly, then stopped joking and said seriously, "Don't overthink it, just live your life." He shrugged again, "But my worries seem unnecessary. You're much more interesting than before."
After the person left, Chu Beiling sent a picture of the red marks on her wrists and neck: 【Look what you've done, they still haven't faded.】
He then sent the message: "I almost died of fright."
He was so angry that he sent over a hundred beating emojis.
After waiting for a long time without any news, Chu Beiling was about to make a fuss by phone when the other party called first.
A low, lazy chuckle came from the other end of the phone. Xing Yu said, "So angry?"
Chu Beiling was angered by his preemptive strike: "You've done a good job, making Fu Xingzhou laugh at me all morning."
Xing Yu paused for a second, his voice devoid of apology, instead carrying a hint of thoughtful danger: "What did he see?"
"Playing dumb, huh?" Chu Beiling rolled her eyes, furious. "He saw all the marks on my wrist! He laughed at me for ages. Am I even allowed to show my face now?"
Xing Yu: "Stay away from him."
Chu Beiling choked: "Is that the point?"
“Slip of the tongue, that’s not it.” He paused deliberately, lowering his voice: “I should have left more, more conspicuous ones.”
Chu Beiling was furious and completely lost her temper: "Xing Yu, you fucking bastard."
Xing Yu patiently said, "Baby, don't swear."
"..." Chu Beiling said quietly, "Xing Yu, I'm going to hang you up and beat you."
"You like it this way?" Xing Yu said casually, "Okay."
Terrible, terrible, terrible, absolutely terrible—
Chu Beiling stomped her feet in anger, hung up the phone in a huff, and couldn't be bothered to argue with him any further.
Not long after hanging up the phone, there was another knock on the office door, this time from Xing Yu.
He was wearing a dark gray trench coat, and as he walked in, a slight breeze stirred up the hem of his coat, causing the green ivy on both sides of the office to rustle.
Chu Beiling lifted her eyelids and said irritably, "You still dare to come?"
Xing Yu: "We've come to apologize."
Chu Beiling was easily angered but also easy to appease. His anger had subsided considerably after hearing this, but he still lay on the floor and scurried around for a while, not returning.
He glanced at Xing Yu, snorted, and deliberately dragged out his words in a haughty tone: "Apologize? You're coming to apologize empty-handed?"
Chu Beiling slapped the table and tapped him: "Is this an attitude of apology?"
Xing Yu picked him up and placed him on the desk, bracing himself with his hands on either side, trapping him between his body and the desk, and leaned closer.
Chu Beiling covered his lips and leaned back, asking, "What are you doing?"
Xing Yu: "I apologize."
Chu Beiling: "..."
What kind of apology is this?
He was so angry he wanted to kick him, but he was trapped and couldn't move at all. The irritable Chu Beiling punched his chest several times to vent his anger.
Xing Yu pinched his chin and kissed him.
Chu Beiling resisted for a while, but in the end, his army collapsed like a house of cards.
Just as he was about to respond, Xing Yu bit his lip and then stepped back a little: "My mistake, I'll be more careful next time."
Chu Beiling narrowed his eyes: "Xing Yu."
"I am here."
Chu Beiling was furious and reached out to pinch his firm side waist: "Laughing, laughing, you're still laughing."
"It's my fault," Xing Yu said. "I'm really sorry."
Chu Beiling: "I feel like you're gloating a little."
Xing Yu brushed his fingertip against his lips and asked innocently, "Really?"
“That bastard Fu Xingzhou will probably be laughing at me until next year.” Chu Beiling pointed to his neck and wrist, then licked his lips, which still tasted slightly of blood. “You’re still bullying me.”
"Not satisfied?!" Xing Yu understood and said apologetically, "It's not convenient here, I'll apologize to you again tonight."
Chu Beiling glared at him, her face flushing. After holding back for a while, she said irritably, "Is this your way of apologizing?"
Xing Yu readily agreed: "Of course, as for making amends, I will certainly serve you well."
"Is this serving or punishment?" As soon as the words left his mouth, Chu Beiling wished he could bite off his own tongue.
Well, the more you try to cover it up, the worse it gets.
Xing Yu's lips curled into a faint smile. "I forgot, our little blueberries have a unique flavor, they like..." He leaned closer and whispered in his ear.
Chu Beiling blushed instantly, shoved him away, and jumped off the table: "I'm leaving, I'm leaving."
Xing Yu's casual voice came from behind: "I can accommodate anything you like."
"I won't listen to this bastard's chanting." Chu Beiling covered her ears and ran away as fast as she could, as if her feet were greased.
Xing Yu chuckled and jogged after him, catching up with someone who had the desire to steal but lacked the courage.
