Chapter 50 N - Intoxication
After he said that, the car fell silent again.
Xing Yu did not answer his question, his eyes drooping as he stared unhappily at the rain curtain in front of him.
Chu Beiling glanced at him and then looked at the road ahead, speaking again: "The bar is on the way, closer to your apartment. I'll pick him up first, then take you back. Don't worry, it'll be quick and won't take up much of your time."
He added, "If you don't say anything, I'll take that as a yes."
Xing Yu finally humbled himself and turned to look at him: "Is it alright if I don't go?"
After a moment of silence, he continued, "Fanfan, don't go."
Hearing Xing Yu call him that suddenly, Chu Beiling's breath hitched, and he almost made a mistake again.
He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he detected a hint of pleading in his words.
Chu Beiling opened her mouth, wanting to ask Xing Yu why he didn't let him pick up Zhu Qing'an.
But the words that were on the tip of my tongue turned into—
"I'm sorry, Xing Yu, I can't just ignore him."
If Chu Beiling really didn't care in Singapore, the people picking him up wouldn't be missing one more person, and Zhu Qing'an wouldn't be so foolish as to contact him to bail him out. The person Zhu Qing'an bothered was always Fu Xingzhou, who had a more mild temper.
But in Hangzhou, he couldn't just let Zhu Qing'an fend for himself in the bar, or teach him a lesson by sending him to the detention center for a couple of days so he wouldn't dare to act like that again.
But ultimately, he couldn't do it. Besides being part of the ECho management team and needing to ensure project progress on time, he and Zhu Qing'an were also friends.
Xing Yu gave a self-deprecating smile. "You certainly put your heart into it."
Before Chu Beiling could answer, Xing Yu answered his own question with a light laugh, "That's right, you've always been like this, always putting your boyfriend's affairs before your own, even at the cost of your own. You're truly admirable."
"You—" Chu Beiling felt as if he had suddenly fallen into a bottomless, dark sewer, unable to see, hear, or feel anything.
After a long while, he gradually regained his voice, and Chu Beiling still had the same question: "If you disagreed at the time, why did you agree?"
A complex mix of emotions welled up in Xing Yu's eyes: "I regret it."
He should have refused to budge and not made that bullshit agreement with Chu Beiling.
Chu Beiling was speechless for a moment. Xing Yu's cold words, "I regret it," were like a gust of wind that instantly swallowed him up. He felt like he had a fishbone stuck in his throat and was almost suffocating.
He originally thought that Xing Yu's agreement showed that he understood his actions and choices, so he was willing to make that promise with him.
Chu Beiling had always thought this was a choice made by both of them, but it turned out to be wishful thinking on his part.
No wonder Xing Yu moved away from Zhalongkou not long after, sent a message saying "Don't contact me again," and even blocked his contact information.
Can--
No matter what Xing Yu said, Chu Beiling always believed that the choice she made back then was not wrong, especially since it was Xing Yu's own promise.
Chu Beiling's nose tingled slightly. After a moment, he smiled calmly and said, "But Xing Yu, I don't regret it. If I had to do it all over again, I would still make the same choice. If you want to hold a grudge, then hold a grudge."
At the fork in the road ahead, turning left leads to the bar, while turning right leads to the elevated highway and back to Chu Beiling's apartment. Xing Yu pointed to the road sign on the right: "Take me back."
Chu Beiling stopped with the flow of cars waiting for pedestrians to cross the zebra crossing. He glanced sideways and stared intently at Xing Yu: "We're almost there, just bear with it."
Chu Beiling returned the same words to him, but Xing Yu did not give up like Chu Beiling did; he persisted.
Having no other choice, Chu Beiling changed lanes and drove onto the elevated road as the traffic started moving.
The car drove back to the road leading to Chu Beiling's apartment. For some reason, the towing company didn't come to tow Xing Yu's car away, and it remained parked there.
Chu Beiling drove her car next to Xing Yu's car and gestured with her chin to him: "You can get out now."
The moment Xing Yu unbuckled his seatbelt and opened the car door, he suddenly turned around, hooked his arm around Chu Beiling's neck, and pulled him towards him.
Their lips were pressed tightly together.
Chu Beiling's pupils contracted, his mind exploded, and Xing Yu, without any politeness, bit him hard on the lip.
Four or five seconds later, when Chu Beiling remembered to push him away, Xing Yu had already let go.
The torrential rain gradually turned into a light drizzle, which, under the streetlights, fell like fine needles, piercing through the heavy car roof and directly hitting him.
A tingling, electric-like sensation coursed through Chu Beiling's limbs, making every pore of his body tremble.
Damn it.
Chu Beiling bit her lip, opened the door and chased after him, closing the car door before Xing Yu got in.
He braced his hands on either side of Xing Yu's body, trapping him between the car wall and his embrace, staring intently at Xing Yu as if trying to see into his heart: "What do you mean by this?"
"I owe you that kiss from ten years ago, when we parted by West Lake." Xing Yu looked at him quietly, his dark pupils like a deep pool, holding countless thoughts: "You wanted to kiss me back then, but I didn't let you. Now I'm giving it back to you."
Chu Beiling's chest heaved as he tried his best to calm his voice: "Fine, so you want to do it this way?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he stepped forward, cupped Xing Yu's cheeks, and pressed his lips to his. Without giving him even a chance to react, he pried open Xing Yu's teeth and began to thrust and pry, roughly and with a sense of venting.
There was absolutely no logic or method to it.
Make up for the kiss I owe him.
He returned it to him.
Xing Yu raised his hands and pressed him against himself, taking the initiative.
Chu Beiling wouldn't let him touch her again, biting his lip hard. He tried to push him away, but Xing Yu grabbed the back of his neck, holding his head still, and pulled him back by tightly wrapping his other arm around his waist.
Xing Yu remained unmoved by his punches and kicks, gripping him tighter and tighter, as if he wanted to crush him into his body.
The two were pressed tightly together, without leaving a single gap.
The dim light of the night amplified the sensation of our lips entwined; the soft touch and the intertwined breaths seemed so clear.
Chu Beiling whimpered and struggled for a moment before giving up. She took the initiative to wrap her arms around Xing Yu's neck, biting his lips with resentment, and engaging in a fierce battle with him.
Xing Yu only released him when the two were on the verge of losing control, their lips and teeth filled with the taste of blood.
Chu Beiling was still immersed in the passionate kiss just now, her breathing and heartbeat were unusually fast, and her brain was a little dizzy.
Xing Yu licked the blood from his lips, as if he wasn't quite done: "Want another kiss?"
As reason gradually returned, Chu Beiling took two steps back, widening the distance between them: "That's enough, any further... that's too much."
Xing Yu pursed his lips slightly: "You think that's all? Do you even know what...?"
Chu Beiling's phone rang again, interrupting their conversation.
It was the same bar employee from before. Chu Beiling answered the phone and told him to keep an eye on things while she arrived. Then she said to Xing Yu, "I'll go pick them up first."
Before Xing Yu could respond, Chu Beiling turned and walked towards her car.
Xing Yu stood there with his hands on his hips for a while, until Chu Beiling's car disappeared into the night. Only then did he recover, open the car door, start the car, and drive towards the apartment.
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Qing'an knocked on Chu Beiling's office door.
Zhu Qing'an scratched the tip of her nose sheepishly: "Thank you for your help yesterday."
Chu Beiling's first words were a warning to Zhu Qing'an, "After today, I never want to pick you up from this bar or that bar again. If you ever go crazy and damage public property again, you'll be sent straight to the detention center for a few days."
Zhu Qing'an raised an eyebrow and asked, "If there's a next time, you really won't care about me?"
"I don't care, you go to the detention center for a few days, and when you come out..." Chu Beiling looked down at the documents without even lifting his eyelids: "I'll have President Fu deal with you."
He couldn't control it, and it wasn't his business to have Zhu Qing'an clean up the mess for him.
Zhu Qing'an had been waiting for these words. He was more than happy to hear Chu Beiling complain to Fu Xingzhou: "Sure, go tell him what kind of person I am in China."
Chu Beiling was taken aback, then slowly raised her eyes: "You mean the person you can't forget is President Fu?"
“It was him.” Zhu Qing’an shrugged and smiled helplessly. “It was just that I shamelessly pestered him, but he remained unmoved.”
Chu Beiling had never known about this. Over the years, he had been immersed in his work, wishing that work would occupy all his time. Because he had lost some of his senses, he rarely noticed the subtle changes around him.
I never expected Zhu Qing'an and Fu Xingzhou to have this kind of story.
Now that you mention it, I can understand Zhu Qing'an's seemingly eccentric behavior.
Chu Beiling explained to Zhu Qing'an, "There's nothing between me and President Fu, we're just friends."
Zhu Qing'an nodded: "I know that, but... I won't be at ease until you find someone."
After saying that, he brought up the matter of reviewing the draft images: "On the 14th, which is your birthday, we will go to Chumeng to review the draft for the fourth time. If there are no problems with the feedback this time, the first phase of cooperation can be considered to be temporarily completed."
"Come with me, go meet your old flame." Besides urging him to find a partner as soon as possible, Zhu Qing'an also genuinely hoped that Chu Beiling could be happy.
Chu Beiling said, "I've already decided to go back to Singapore."
"What!" Zhu Qing'an exclaimed in shock, "Why!"
Chu Beiling reached out to ask him for the documents related to the collaboration with Chu Meng. After a pause and a long pause, he looked down and started flipping through them: "There are still some details that need to be changed. Let's see how Chu Meng responds. Basically, there are no problems."
Chu Beiling always meant what he said, and Zhu Qing'an knew from his attitude that there was no hope for the two of them, so there was no point in trying to persuade him: "When are you going back?"
"After the first phase of cooperation, and once this project is on track, I'll leave." Chu Beiling marked the parts that needed to be changed and coordinated, signed the document, and returned it to Zhu Qing'an.
Zhu Qing'an: "Has President Fu already agreed?"
"Sort of," Chu Beiling asked. "What are your plans?"
He came to China to hide from people, Zhu Qing'an said, "I'm not going back to Singapore."
Chu Beiling nodded and then said, "I won't be going to the review session in a couple of days."
Zhu Qing'an sighed: "Fine, I'll go by myself."
Chu Beiling began to shoo people away: "You can go back now."
"I'm leaving now." Before leaving, Zhu Qing'an specifically emphasized to Chu Beiling, "You absolutely must remember to go and complain."
After a pause, he said, "I'm telling you this upfront: if you don't go and complain, you might have to go to the bar to bail me out."
Chu Beiling didn't want to get involved in these things. "You talk to him yourself."
Zhu Qing'an: "Then come to the bar and bail me out."
He had just turned around when Li Zhiyi came over and knocked on the office door. "President Chu, President Xing from Chumeng is here."
Chu Beiling was taken aback.
Zhu Qing'an chuckled: "And you still say you're old..."
The word "lover" was swallowed back down under Chu Beiling's sharp gaze. He changed the subject: "I'll disappear on my own. You two can talk slowly."
"Come back." Chu Beiling called out to Zhu Qing'an, then turned to Li Zhiyi and said, "Let them come directly over."
Li Zhiyi asked, "Should I come directly to your office?"
Chu Beiling raised his hand and glanced at his watch: "Okay, come straight here."
The development team of "Tales of Mountains and Seas" needs a meeting room, and their review work is also very tedious. In the past, even if they used a meeting room, they might not be able to finish before 2 o'clock.
Chu Beiling: "He must be after the artwork; you can't leave."
Zhu Qing'an smiled and said, "The draft is basically fine and there are no major problems to revise. There are only some details left. You can let them keep it for now, and I'll take a look later. As for keeping me here as a third wheel?"
Chu Beiling couldn't help but roll her eyes: "Are you addicted to being a matchmaker? If you can't do the job of an American supervisor, you can go back to Singapore now."
Zhu Qing'an leaned closer: "You're so serious~"
"They're here soon," Chu Beiling warned. "Don't go crazy."
Zhu Qing'an started to act shamelessly: "Then you have to promise me you'll go and complain."
Chu Beiling had no choice but to agree. "Fine, I'll call you when it's over."
Zhu Qing'an was satisfied: "That's more like it."
There was a knock on the office door, and the two of them turned around at the same time.
Xing Yu stood at the office door, the overhead light shining down, but it didn't reach his eyes; his eyes were filled with gloom.
