Chapter 84 N-Focal Length

Chapter 84 N-Focal Length

Chu Beiling is currently in China and doesn't really have anyone to contact.

Xu Tunan is still angry with him. In the Class 13 group chat, he re-added Li Dong and Sheng Xia, but only gave them a brief greeting before hastily ending the conversation.

Aside from Xing Yu, the only person he could connect with was Zhu Qing'an, his assistant, and business partners.

Chu Beiling also disliked being restrained and controlled, but this person was Xing Yu—

He said, "Okay."

As Xing Yu loosened his grip on his clenched, veiny hand, a sour feeling welled up inside him. In the past, Chu Beiling would never hesitate for so long before he said anything.

Xing Yu suppressed his fluctuating emotions and asked, "Have you brought everything?"

After Chu Beiling confirmed that there was no problem, Xing Yu took his hand and walked outside.

When the car stopped at the middle level, someone entered. The person gave them a strange look, but the two did not let go of each other's hands. In the past, they would have avoided each other whenever there were other people around.

Nobody cares now.

After leaving Chu Beiling's apartment, they went to the supermarket to shop. By the time they got back to Xing Yu's house, it was almost 8 p.m. Both of them were hungry. Since it was so late, Xing Yu decided to make a simple seafood noodle dish.

Chu Beiling took off her coat and put it on the sofa, rolled up her sleeves and followed Xing Yu into the kitchen to help him with chores.

Xing Yu raised his chin: "Go pack your things, I can cook by myself."

Chu Beiling opened her mouth, subconsciously wanting to ask him which room he was staying in, but then she thought that she and Xing Yu had already slept together in the master bedroom for two days, and it would be too pretentious to ask such a question.

Moreover, he moved into Xing Yu's apartment not to be his roommate under the same roof.

With that in mind, Chu Beiling picked up her luggage and went into the master bedroom.

Fu Xingzhou called, and he put down his luggage and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window to answer the phone.

"I didn't even let you rest during the Spring Festival. Aunt Li gave me a good scolding. Tell me, how are you going to make up for my good mood?" Fu Xingzhou's extremely lazy voice came from the other end of the receiver.

Chu Beiling asked, "Are you here to ask me gossip, or is there something you want me to do?"

Fu Xingzhou: "What do you think? Of course, we want both."

Chu Beiling said that he had reconciled with Xing Yu, but didn't say anything else. Fu Xingzhou concluded, "So I don't need to arrange for anyone else to return to China."

"Hmm, no need." Chu Beiling reached out and arranged the paints on the wall shelf so that all the labels faced the same direction.

“That’s good, saves me the trouble of figuring out who’s the most suitable,” Fu Xingzhou said. “To be honest, I really miss you coming back.”

Chu Beiling: "I helped you build your empire in the country, why are you making so many demands?"

"So you've made up, and you sound much better." He then changed the subject: "And another thing, were you building this empire for me? Aren't you ashamed to just spout off like that?"

Chu Beiling remained noncommittal.

After teasing him for a while, Fu Xingzhou put away his playful mood and started to talk about serious matters: "I need to go to a few private business dinners in China during the Spring Festival. Don't force yourself if you can't handle it. I'm going back to China."

Chu Beiling said, "It's not that exaggerated." Besides, this is what he should do in the first place.

Fu Xingzhou nodded: "That's right, you've made up?"

Chu Beiling couldn't help but roll her eyes: "Shut up."

Fu Xingzhou laughed heartily, explaining a few details as he did so, and told him that he and Zhu Qing'an would return to China together after the Spring Festival.

After hanging up, Chu Beiling carried her luggage back to the dressing room.

The walk-in closet was large, U-shaped, with a glass island in the middle for displaying accessories. Xing Yu's belongings only occupied half of the huge closet, leaving the other half completely empty, as if waiting for someone to fill it up.

Chu Beiling stood there stunned for a long time, not even hearing Xing Yu's footsteps behind her.

"Are you all packed?" Xing Yu asked.

Chu Beiling turned her head and looked at him in disbelief: "An empty walk-in closet, extra parking spaces, and Doraemon merchandise... all of these... you prepared them for me?"

After asking the question, he stared at Xing Yu with a moment of unease, afraid that it wasn't what he thought, yet unable to suppress his anticipation.

“Who else could it be!” Xing Yu raised his hand and pinched his face, saying quietly, “I’m not like some heartless people who are cold-blooded and ruthless, saying they don’t want it and then just throwing it away without looking back.”

Chu Beiling lowered his eyes: "I'm sorry." He had no way to explain.

"You've forgotten what I said again." Xing Yu narrowed his eyes.

Chu Beiling: "What?"

"I don't need an apology..."

After saying that, Xing Yu grabbed Chu Beiling's wrist and pulled him into his arms. The next second, he lowered his head and bit Chu Beiling's shoulder hard.

As the pain struck, Chu Beiling couldn't help but frown and hiss.

Xing Yu increased the pressure on Chu Beiling's lips, forcing her to tilt her head back in pain, revealing her beautiful swan neck and her delicate, mountain-like Adam's apple, which rolled up and down under the crystal chandelier, making her both sexy and fragile.

Xing Yu glanced down at it, then bit down accurately.

Chu Beiling was in so much pain that tears streamed down his face, and Xing Yu saw this and reached out to wipe them away for him.

"As long as you love me." He finished the sentence he hadn't said earlier.

Her skin ached, but her heart ached even more. Chu Beiling slowly took a breath, raised her hand to cup his sharp, defined jawline, and caressed it affectionately—a gesture of comfort, a plea for mercy, and a coaxing to express her unease.

"I have always loved you," Chu Beiling said.

Xing Yu stepped back, forcefully rubbing his thumb across the bloodied corner of Chu Beiling's mouth, scrutinizing him inch by inch, not giving him a chance to speak. He then pressed his fingertip against Chu Beiling's lips, rubbing it little by little.

Under the lamplight, Chu Beiling's round eyes were misty with a light layer of water, and her lips, stained red, opened and closed like a cherry bursting with juice.

"It looks great."

A slight throbbing pain shot through Chu Beiling's neck. She raised her hand to touch it, looking aggrieved, and said, "You bit me and it hurts a lot."

"I'm so sorry, I hurt you. I'm really sorry." Xing Yu leaned against the door, chuckling as he apologized, but there was no trace of remorse in his eyes.

Chu Beiling couldn't help but curse, "Xing Yu, you bastard."

Xing Yu generously said, "I can let you bite back."

Chu Beiling reached out and grabbed his collar, then kissed him directly, taking a bite of his Adam's apple and two symmetrical bites on either side of his neck.

Afterwards, he raised an eyebrow and smiled, saying, "I'll do whatever you say. Don't be petty and retaliate!"

Xing Yu's hand swept across Chu Beiling's shoulder, stroking his neck, and lifted his chin, making him look up: "Break up with Zhu Qing'an as soon as possible. You know I'm petty."

Chu Beiling suddenly realized that Xing Yu, like him, was extremely insecure and anxious.

In the past, he and Xing Yu were both very possessive of each other, wishing they could label each other as belonging only to themselves.

What's more, they are now separated by a decade of complete loss of contact.

Chu Beiling nodded and agreed, "Okay."

The astringent feeling stuck in his throat slowly melted away, and Xing Yu's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down, and his mood improved considerably.

"Xing Yu." There was one thing Chu Beiling wanted to tell Xing Yu beforehand: "Zhu Qing'an is my eunuch..."

"Your eunuch?"

Chu Beiling quickly changed her tune: "He's an art supervisor, and we'll still keep in touch professionally. It's unrealistic to completely ignore him, so Xing Yu, can you understand?"

Xing Yu pursed his lips, wanting to say no, but he wasn't someone who disregarded the bigger picture. Chu Beiling was in charge, and it was impossible for him to completely cut off contact with Zhu Qing'an.

He also knew that Chu Beiling and Zhu Qing had been in contact much more frequently than other departments.

After an unknown amount of time, Xing Yu said, "Try to minimize contact, including work-related matters. If we can communicate online, we will never do it offline."

If someone else had spoken to him like that and made all sorts of demands on him, Chu Beiling would have twisted his head off.

But that's Xing Yu; he's willing to do it.

Chu Beiling chuckled: "Alright, I'll listen to you."

Since it was still early, the two decided to take a stroll around West Lake. Xing Yu helped Chu Beiling pack her things into the wardrobe and put the accessories into the jewelry display case.

As Xing Yu watched as Chu Beiling's clothes gradually filled the once empty wardrobe, his empty heart was also gradually filled.

After many years of waiting, the other half of the wardrobe finally welcomed its owner.

The next day, the rain stopped and the sky cleared. The rain that had been falling on and off for almost two months finally came to an end.

Early in the morning, Chu Beiling was awakened by the sunlight streaming into her bedroom, and Xing Yu's striking face came into view.

Chu Beiling's mind went blank for a moment, then she smiled and said, "Xing Yu, good morning."

Xing Yu pinched his cheek: "Good morning."

Chu Beiling was fully awake and rubbed his eyes: "When did you wake up?"

"A little earlier than you." Because he had just woken up, Xing Yu's voice was hoarse, as if it had been sanded, and indescribably sexy and alluring: "It's still early, you can sleep a little longer."

With Xing Yu staring at him like that, Chu Beiling couldn't possibly fall asleep. He stretched and yawned, "I've had enough sleep."

As he moved, two more buttons popped off the top of his loose-fitting pajamas, revealing a large expanse of his fair chest. The red marks left from last night were even more noticeable today.

Xing Yu's Adam's apple bobbed, and he quickly looked away after just one glance. His mind was wandering and he couldn't lie down any longer, so he simply sat up and asked, "Are you hungry? I'll make breakfast."

Chu Beiling tugged at his sleeve: "I'm not hungry yet, lie here with me for a while longer." He didn't really want Xing Yu to leave, he just wanted to stay in bed with Xing Yu like this.

Xing Yu lay back down.

Their eyes met, at a distance that was neither too close nor too far, their breaths mingling and sticking together, conveying an unspoken ambiguity.

Chu Beiling's heart pounded.

He said, "I'm a little hungry."

Suddenly oblivious to romance, Xing Yu quickly rolled out of bed: "Lie down a little longer, I'll go make breakfast."

Watching Xing Yu's departing figure, Chu Beiling pouted.

Now that he was all alone, Chu Beiling couldn't lie down any longer, so he turned over and went to the bathroom to take a cold shower, which made him feel much more awake.

After quickly tidying himself up, he went outside to find Xing Yu.

Xing Yu worked quickly, and by the time Chu Beiling left, breakfast was already prepared and placed on the table.

Seeing him come out, Xing Yu said, "You eat first, I'll go wash up."

After breakfast, the two busy people huddled together in the study.

Chu Beiling turned on his computer and scanned through the seven or eight unread emails, replying to them one by one. The last email was from screenwriter Lin, sending the third edition of "Sword Song Beyond the Clouds." He opened the file and began to read it carefully from beginning to end.

At the desk directly opposite, Xing Yu was having an online meeting with several investors of "Return of the Safe and Sound".

Production will begin after the New Year. All preliminary preparations have been completed. Unless additional investment is required or there are special circumstances, there is basically no need to communicate with other investors.

However, one investor heard from someone that using popular celebrities for voice acting could increase box office appeal. Including Chu Meng, there were four investors in total, two of whom agreed and two disagreed.

After all, it involves hundreds of millions of yuan and a project with a cycle of 3-5 years. Nobody wants to waste their money. Even if Xing Yu prefers to have professional voice actors do it, other factors cannot be ignored.

And to do as he says, it is necessary to reasonably and convincingly persuade the other two investors.

Animated characters are two-dimensional figures. To make them move, their expressions and movements must be similar to those of real people. This is especially true for 3D animation, which is usually dubbed first and then produced, with motion capture used as a reference in post-production. This requires a high level of acting skills.

Chu Beiling also felt that if he really had to choose, he might not be able to weigh the pros and cons clearly in a short time.

Looking up casually, Chu Beiling still found Xing Yu's appearance somewhat amusing. For the online meeting, he had changed his upper body into a black silk shirt, looking refined and proper, while his lower body was still wearing the same blue silk lounge pants.

It looked quite comical.

Who would have thought that Xing Yu, the dignified president of Chu Meng, who is meticulous in everything he does, would be so lazy and perfunctory?

Perhaps sensing his gaze, Xing Yu looked up, then looked away somewhat uncomfortably. Remembering that they were in a meeting, he casually picked up a water glass from the side, took a sip, and then continued to express his views without making a sound.

He acted as if nothing had happened.

Chu Beiling found it very interesting and cute.

However, Xing Yu was still in a meeting, so he didn't disturb him. He smiled and lowered his head to continue reading his script.

They didn't finish their work until the afternoon, and then they got up and left.

Xing Yu asked, "You're still so busy even on vacation?"

"It's alright, I just need to process the documents a bit," Chu Beiling said.

But actually, when it comes to being busy, he and Xing Yu are about the same; others at least have holidays.

They didn't.

Chu Beiling asked, "Are you all done with your work? Would you like to go out for a walk? The weather is nice, it's a rare treat."

Xing Yu: "Okay."
