Chapter 44: Feelings are created by contrast!

...

Early the next morning, the hunting horn sounded. The King of Yan, the King of Heng, and the noble men of various families in the Kingdom of Qing all took their hunting tools and prepared to go to the hunting ground to start a day of hunting.

Shen Wei was very worried, she was afraid that something might happen to Prince Yan.

If the King of Yan had an accident and died in the suburbs, the greatest wealth she would have for the rest of her life would be gone.

Shen Wei put a prepared sachet in the hands of King Yan and said sincerely: "Your Majesty, I put sulfur to drive away poisonous snakes, wormwood to drive away mosquitoes and insects, and a few hemostatic pills in this sachet. Your Majesty must carry it with you. Hunting is dangerous, so be careful."

The concern in her eyes was too genuine and undisguised.

Prince Yan secretly sighed in his heart that his little concubine was always so attentive and considerate.

Love him to the extreme, caring for him in every possible way.

King Yan put away the sachet and said gently, "Wait for me in the camp. I will hunt some deer and we will have roasted deer meat tonight."

Shen Wei nodded obediently.

She watched King Yan ride away on his horse. Prince Yan was dressed in black and red riding clothes, and his strong and tall figure shone brightly in the morning light, like a general going to the battlefield.

Not far away, Prince Heng, surrounded by his concubines, proudly mounted his horse.

This scene of Chen Wei seeing Prince Yan off naturally caught Prince Heng's eyes. Prince Heng lowered his eyes and glanced at the beautiful girls surrounding him; Prince Heng raised his head and looked at Chen Wei who was standing in the morning breeze to see him off.

Feelings are created by contrast.

Shen Wei is genuinely affectionate towards King Yan, and her eyes are filled with worry.

Prince Heng's concubines were hypocritical and fawning.

Prince Heng felt a little jealous. He also wanted to have a little thing that would care about him wholeheartedly.

He rode his horse to Shen Wei and deliberately found fault: "My second brother is cold-hearted by nature, and I'm afraid he will disappoint the love of the beautiful woman. How about coming to Prince Heng's Mansion? This prince will guarantee you a life of wealth and honor."

Shen Wei glanced at Prince Yan, her expression instantly cold: "Your Highness Prince Heng is joking, I have something else to do, so I'll go first."

Shen Wei bowed to King Heng and turned to leave.

As an excellent employee, Shen Wei will not easily switch to other companies! What's more, Prince Yan's brother is the crown prince and his mother is the current queen, so his family background is stronger than Prince Heng's.

Shen Wei is not mentally ill, she would not switch jobs to Prince Heng's Mansion.

King Heng curled his lips, his eyes fell on Shen Wei's slender back as she left, with a playful look on his face: "Interesting things."

After the hunting trip in Dongshan is over, Prince Heng plans to find a concubine similar to Shen Wei to serve him.

Shen Wei returned to the tent and was about to lift the curtain when she heard the sound of an argument not far away.

She turned around and saw Princess Zhaoyang's tent not far away. Princess Zhaoyang and Minister of Rites Yan Yunting seemed to be arguing.

Zhaoyang was wearing a flamboyant red phoenix-peony dress, her cheeks puffed up, and she was angrily saying, "Yan Yunting, what do you mean? Are you afraid that I will bully your Rou'er?"

A trace of helplessness flashed across Yan Yunting's handsome face: "Rou'er has had her period these days and is weak. As a princess, don't take the lead in mocking and bullying her."

Zhaoyang's pretty face flushed, and her tone was a little aggrieved: "Yan Yunting, do you even remember the day when Tan Tairou came to the sunflower water?"

Yan Yunting did not explain, his eyes were full of fatigue.

Shen Wei pricked up her ears and listened for a while, and roughly understood the reason for the two people's quarrel.

Hunting in Dongshan is a grand event for men, so Yan Yunting naturally wants to participate in the hunt. The women stayed in the camp to enjoy the sights and sounds.

Yan Yunting was worried that Princess Zhaoyang would bully his Rouer, so he came to remind her. This angered Princess Zhaoyang and they had an argument.

"Your humble servant will go ahead. I say the same thing again. Please don't bully Rou'er. She is having her period and cannot touch raw or cold food. If she is accidentally pushed into the water by you, the consequences will be disastrous." Yan Yunting saluted Princess Zhaoyang, turned around and strode away.

Zhaoyang stamped his feet in anger, and his almond-shaped eyes turned red for a moment.

She quickly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, took a deep breath, and turned back into the precious princess, self-respecting and proud.

Shen Wei quietly returned to the tent and rested until noon.

Cai Lian walked into the tent in small steps and reminded Shen Wei: "Master, the maid of Her Royal Highness the Princess came to deliver a message saying that the weather is fine today and invites you to a banquet by the river to enjoy the mountain scenery."

Shen Wei yawned and sat up from the bed, rubbing her eyes: "Cai Lian, prepare the ingredients for the iced dessert."

Cai Lian smiled and said, "Don't worry, Master, it has been prepared long ago."

Chen Wei changed into a cool light green cloud silk dress, dressed neatly and unobtrusively, and took Cai Lian to the Dongshan creek.

The summer sun is slightly hot, and the gurgling stream brings a refreshing coolness. Beside the Dongshan Creek, rows of exquisite tables have been set up, and more than a dozen noble ladies from Yanjing have taken their seats.

Princess Zhaoyang was wearing a shining red phoenix peony dress and a gold, jade and pearl hairpin on her head, looking bright and beautiful.

At the last seat by the stream, Princess Zhaoyang's love rival, Tan Tairou, was kneeling with her head lowered. Tan Tairou was born in a humble family and was not eligible to come to the Dongshan Hunting Ground, but Yan Yunting brought her here anyway.

Compared to the noble ladies who were dressed gorgeously, Tan Tairou's clothes looked a little shabby.

Shen Wei's eyes lingered around the banquet and she also walked to the last seat. She was the Prince of Yan's concubine, not a side concubine, so she had no right to sit in the front row.

Coincidentally, there was an empty seat next to Tan Tairou. Shen Wei took Cai Lian and walked towards the empty seat.

"Do you want to sit here?" Tan Tairou asked softly, with confusion and a hint of contempt in her eyes.

Shen Wei smiled lightly: "This place is empty."

Tan Tai pursed her lips slightly, a look of reluctance appeared on her pretty face, and she whispered: "But..."

But how could a lowly concubine be qualified to sit in the seat of a noble lady? Tan Tairou looked down on Chen Wei in her heart, and she felt a little embarrassed when Chen Wei sat next to her.
