Chapter 54: Was she wronged?

"Prince, you are back." Shen Wei was awakened. She rubbed her eyes sleepily, and her beautiful eyes slowly opened, with red bloodshot eyes that had not dissipated.

King Yan held Shen Wei's wrist and said in a low voice: "Why is your wrist red?"

A trace of panic flashed across Shen Wei's eyes, and she stuttered, "I went to Baihu Temple to pray for blessings this morning, and I might have been scratched by the leaves. Your Majesty, I asked for a peace amulet for you."

Shen Wei deliberately changed the subject abruptly.

Prince Yan's handsome eyes flickered.

And Shen Wei had already taken out a sachet from the bedside, which contained the amulet she had prayed for.

Chen Wei tried to force out a smile: "Your Majesty, the White Tiger Temple's amulet is the most effective. If Your Majesty wears it with you, you will definitely not encounter assassins in the future."

King Yan held the sachet and his eyes fell on the red marks on Shen Wei's wrist. He has practiced martial arts for many years, so he could naturally see that the red marks were left by rope binding.

Just as Prince Yan was about to ask in detail, Nanny Liu's voice came from outside the room: "Your Highness, the princess wants to see you."

Hearing Madam Liu's voice, Shen Wei's frail body trembled with fear. And this slight tremor naturally caught the eyes of King Yan.

Prince Yan was puzzled. Why would Weiwei be afraid of a servant?

Shen Wei had already lowered her head silently, unconsciously rubbing the red mark on her wrist. Shen Wei's timid appearance reminded King Yan of a tabby cat he had raised when he was young.

The kitten was lost for ten days before it was found, with signs of abuse on its body. King Yan searched for a long time but could not find out who had hurt his beloved cat.

Until one day, that brat King Heng came to visit. When the tabby cat saw King Heng, it trembled with fear.

Chen Wei now looks very much like the little tabby cat that King Yan raised when he was young.

“Weiwei, accompany me to the main house.” King Yan held Shen Wei’s hand.

Holding hands, King Yan noticed that Shen Wei's palms were slightly sweaty.

Shen Wei and King Yan walked to the main house in the center of the Glazed Pavilion, where the princess was already waiting. Behind the princess, maids were escorting two people who were tied up.

Prince Yan sat in the main seat, and the maid respectfully served him tea. Prince Yan picked up the teacup, glanced at the two people who were tied up, and raised his eyebrows slightly:

"Who are these two?"
