Aunt Zhao had a bad feeling in her heart, so she hurried out of the house and went to greet Xie at the gate of the mansion.
The one who came to deliver the decree was Madam Qian, the most senior madam around the empress dowager. Behind Madam Qian was a sedan chair from the palace, and four eunuchs were waiting beside the sedan chair.
"Madam Qian, I'm sorry for not coming to welcome you. I wonder what the Empress Dowager's order is?" Aunt Zhao said respectfully.
Nanny Qian said coldly, "The Queen Mother was very worried when she learned that Wu was seriously ill. She ordered this old servant to bring the imperial decree to Xie Mansion to take Wu to the palace to recuperate."
Aunt Zhao's breathing paused.
Bring Wu into the palace?
Aunt Zhao hurriedly stopped her: "Madame Qian, my sister is too ill to get up and can't come to the palace--"
"What? You, a mere concubine, want to disobey the emperor's order?" Nanny Qian's eyes were as sharp as knives, and she did not take a concubine seriously at all.
Nanny Qian strode into the Xie family and took the palace maids to Wu's room to pick someone up.
Aunt Zhao secretly clenched her handkerchief.
She hated the look in Nanny Qian's eyes - a look that was condescending and superior.
Back then, Aunt Zhao was selling wine in the restaurant. All the dignitaries who were drinking and having fun looked at her with contemptuous and mocking eyes.

Aunt Zhao was unwilling to be inferior to others.

Nanny Qian acted swiftly and decisively, and quickly put the seriously ill and unconscious Wu into a sedan chair and carried her into the palace.
"Madam, what should we do?" the little maid asked anxiously.
Aunt Zhao took a deep breath, looked at the yellowing sycamore tree at the gate of Xie's house, and said calmly, "Write to the master immediately. Something is going to happen at home."
