Chapter 5 Entering the Academy (2/2)

Hecate nodded, and he and Gina left the carriage.

After a moment, under the guard's awed gaze, he passed through.

After entering the city, Hecate led everyone straight to Grants College.

Grants School of Magic, the first magic school in the capital, is located in the open area east of Rundeya. Here, flying magicians are very common.

Hecate showed the recommendation letter to the guards at the academy.

"It's actually a recommendation letter from Professor Emmander!" One of the guards' eyes widened when he saw the recommender on the letter.

The other guard also saw it and his eyes immediately became respectful.

"I'm a freshman, Fast, nice to meet you, Mr. Hecate." The guard named Fast said very politely.

"Are you a student here?" Hecate asked in surprise.

Fast scratched his hair and said, "Yes, you can earn some money by being a security guard while studying."

No wonder he looks so young. I didn't expect that there are also diligent and thrifty people here.

Hecate thought to himself, and then asked the guard to take him to register for school.

"There's still a month before school starts for the students. Why did you get here so soon?" Fast asked as he led the group.

Hecate said casually: "Come here early to avoid any accidents on the road and delays."

"You are not from the land?"

"Well, I'm from the city of Ion."

Fast suddenly realized, and then said: "Then you made the right decision. Seeing that you brought so many things, you must be planning to stay in school. If you come here early, you can choose a house with a better view."

"I'm unfamiliar with this place. Senior, please help me choose a better place to stay." Hecate gave him a few silver coins and said.

Fast smiled: "Of course no problem."

Under the guidance of the gatekeeper, Hecate witnessed the prosperity of this academy. Not only were there many magicians, but there were also all kinds of strange and novel things.

In particular, he saw the prototype of a steam engine, and several magicians were boiling water and tinkering with machinery in an open space.

Fast noticed his gaze and explained, "They are students from the School of Mechanical Engineering. They tinker with mechanical power every day. They also say they want to make the machines free from magic and move on their own."

"Don't learn from them. Pure mechanical power has no future. Magic crystal dynamics is the future." Fast shook his head.

Not really.

The magic crystal is too expensive to be used in civilian life. If they can develop a steam engine and then develop alternative energy sources such as electricity, it will definitely greatly improve people's livelihood.

This world is so obsessed with magic that it is normal that it cannot see the future of steam engines.

Hecate immediately shook his head. It was none of his business. Be it steam engines or electricity, they were not something the Kalans family could control. Anyway, his family had more money than could be spent, so there was no need to take the risk of challenging an immature magic system.

The student registration office is located in a huge wizard tower. Anyone who can serve as a teacher here must at least be a high-level magician.

The ability to fly is a huge watershed in a magician's combat power. Being a high-level magician is the minimum strength requirement for flying.

Hecate asked Gina and the guards to wait while he and Fast went in.

Fast walked to a teacher's desk and said, "Teacher Hubbard, the student recommended by Professor Emmand is here to enroll."

The old man wearing a huge hat asked in confusion: "Emander? Didn't he go traveling? Why would he recommend you to come here? Is he back?"

Fast: "No, this student is from the city of Ion, not from the land. He may be a good seedling that the professor discovered during his travels."

The old man glanced at Hecate, then looked at his letter of recommendation.

"He's only a one-star apprentice magician. Is that old fellow Emand blind?" The old man observed the fluctuations of magic power on Hecate's body and muttered something, then registered him for admission. After that, he gave Hecate an academy badge and several sets of first-year student uniforms.

When Hecate took the badge, Lao Yi grabbed his wrist and cast a detection magic.

The best qualifications? No, how come it seems to be higher than the best qualifications?

Teacher Hubbard looked surprised, and then said, "I knew that old guy would not do anything without a purpose."
