Chapter 527 Extra: "My Fantasy Journey with the Stars (Part 2)" (2/2)

I found a deserted corner and Xing teleported me to another city.

Looking up, the city's skyline forms a sharp contrast with the capital.

There are no huge, rolling hills of steel mills or forests of pipes towering into the sky, spewing steam.

The buildings are generally not high, and most of them are solid stone structures. The exterior walls are covered with warm beige sandstone or reddish-brown pottery tiles. The window frames and door lintels of many buildings are carved with intricate and graceful patterns of vines, flowers and flying birds.

Drought-resistant silver-leaf trees and shrubs with purple flowers are planted on both sides of the street, adding a touch of charm to this stone city.

The most eye-catching thing is the central area of the city, where a white building with a very unique style rises from the ground.

It is not a traditional tower or temple. Instead, it is an abstract combination of several huge wings with folded wings at the top. The lines are smooth and holy, and it emits a soft glow in the sun.

Compared to the capital city, the appearance of this city seems so strange to me.

"There are no angel elements in places like the capital, so why are there some here? Or is this already another country?" I asked curiously.

Xing shook her head and said, "No."

"Betty has been to this city before to train. When she was called back for the celebration party, the local nobles wanted to plot against her, but she defeated them all. Her identity as an angel was revealed here."

"I still remember her telling the remaining survivors that their nerves had abandoned them."

"After Betty left, the Iron Alliance suffered a great defeat. Otherwise, why would those nobles stay in this city that is contrary to the national trend? They are just afraid of offending Betty again."

Xing was all smiles when she talked about this, and it was obvious that the experience she and Betty had here was an indelible memory.

Xing and I were walking on the streets of the Holy City, and I immediately felt the opposite of what Xing said.

People are still moving back and forth like a stream, and wherever you look, deep mechanical transformation has become extremely rare.

Occasionally, you can see one or two people with basic mechanical prosthetic limbs. When they walk among the crowd, they don’t have that sense of superiority looking down on others, but rather seem a little out of place.

Most residents have maintained their original appearance. Their clothing style also prefers natural materials - cotton, linen, wool, soft colors, comfortable cuts, and embroidered with plant patterns similar to those carved on the buildings.

It seems much more natural.

Seen this way, the city seems normal.

Just when I was wondering why others who didn't accept transformation came to live in this city, my answer was solved.

We walked past a bakery, and the tempting aroma of wheat wafted out. However, there was a striking sign hanging at the door of the shop: "First-baked bread of the day, only for the faithful."

Several people, whose clothes were obviously more shabby and whose expressions were uneasy, were wandering outside the store, staring inside but not daring to get close.

These strange people attracted the attention of the patrol troops.

After questioning, those who were wandering around were caught by the patrol army and thrown out of the city because they had not passed the patrol army's faith questionnaire.

䀴Xing and I were also targeted by these patrolling troops because we were passing by.

Other places are extremely crazy about transformation, but here they are extremely crazy about angels.

It just went from one extreme to another.

In this city, those who do not believe in angels cannot survive.

Faced with the patrol's question of faith, I sighed slightly because I didn't know the answer at all.

Xing, she has an overwhelming faith in angels.

You know, how could Xing believe in others, so she must have used astrological magic to get the answers to all the questions and perfectly deceived those patrol troops.

Otherwise I won't do it.

Now, Xing possesses some kind of magic that can transmit sound. Even if I don’t know the answer to the question, Xing can still convey it to me through magic.

After this matter is over.

I said helplessly to Xing: "This world is really terrible."

Xing just sighed and said, "It's really bad, but in fact they are all just chasing after power."

"Strip off the sacred cloak and cold steel, the core that drives their fanaticism has never changed - the instinct for survival. And the desire for a higher status and a safer future. It's just that the capital chose the visible, physical evolution, while here chose the invisible, spiritual conversion. Both are struggling to survive in this world with limited resources."

Xing and I headed to the Angel Church in the central area of the city.

Since Xing could answer any religious questions correctly, our movements were not hindered and we entered the church smoothly.

In front of the church stands a statue that looks very familiar.

That's what Betty looked like.

There are countless believers kneeling under the statue of the deity.

I looked at the believers who were praying silently in front of the angel statue and said calmly, "In the capital, they sacrificed their flesh and blood in exchange for the strength of steel. Here, they sacrificed their thoughts in exchange for the protection of faith."

“It makes no difference.”

"Let's go, Xing." I took a deep breath, listened to the voices of those prayers, and felt the depression.

"It's just as suffocating here as it is in the capital."

The distortion of the capital city is obvious, and the distortion of the holy city is only slightly obscure.

Xing had no objection and just nodded slightly.

Before leaving this stone city shrouded in the shadow of an angel, I looked back at the white dome for the last time.

It remains holy and peaceful, like a gift from God.

In my eyes, it is more like a huge tombstone, burying the independent-thinking souls of the city's residents, marking another more thorough transformation of thinking carried out in the name of the sacred.

Afterwards, Xing took me to see the Dawn Federation.

Compared to the Iron Alliance, the Dawn Federation is a little bit younger, but only a little bit younger. Their crazy act of fusing plants and blue crystals into their bodies is no less serious than that of the Iron Alliance.

In particular, they prefer to connect those blue crystals with the roots and brains of plants.

After a day of traveling, the only impression I had of this world was that it was crazy.
