bloom
On the day the competition results came out, the spring breeze had already softened the willow branches.
Chen Yu's name appeared prominently on the list of first-place winners, and a red congratulatory notice was posted prominently on the bulletin board, drawing a crowd. The homeroom teacher patted him on the shoulder, smiling broadly, "I told you you could do it! This is our school's greatest honor this year!"
Chen Yu held the gold-stamped certificate, his fingertips trembling slightly. He thought of his parents' smiles and the amulet Jiang Yizhou had given him, and his heart felt filled with warmth.
"Chen Yu, you're awesome!" A classmate came over to congratulate him. He smiled and nodded in response, but his eyes involuntarily glanced back - Jiang Yizhou was not there.
The seat at the back table remained empty all day. Shen Yu's heart felt like it was being tugged at by something, and even the joy of receiving the certificate faded a bit.
After school, he had just walked out of the teaching building when he was stopped by a strange middle-aged woman. The woman was wearing a well-fitting suit and had delicate makeup, but her eyes were scrutinizing as she looked him up and down as if she were looking at a commodity.
"Are you Chen Yu?" The woman's tone was not friendly.
Shen Yu frowned: "Who are you?"
"I'm Jiang Yizhou's mother." The woman's voice was a little colder. "Can we talk?"
Chen Yu's heart skipped a beat, and his fingers gripping the certificate tightened. He nodded and followed the woman to a cafe near the school.
"I know you and Yi Zhou are very close." The woman stirred her coffee and said straight to the point, "I also know that he has done a lot for you that he would not have done before. But Chen Yu, you are not from the same world."
She paused, took out a bank card and pushed it in front of Chen Yu: "There are 50,000 yuan in it, take it. Leave Yi Zhou and stop affecting him. He is about to transfer to a key high school in the city, and his future cannot be ruined in your hands."
Chen Yu looked at the bank card, his stomach churning as if he had seen something dirty. He stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor with a harsh sound.
"Auntie," Chen Yu's voice was cold, filled with suppressed anger, "What happened between Jiang Yizhou and me can't be solved with money. Also, he's not being influenced by me. He's getting better because he wants to."
The woman was obviously not expecting him to say that, and her face darkened. "Do you think Yizhou really likes you? He's just confused for a moment and feels sorry for you. Once he gets to his new environment, he'll forget you soon."
"No." Shen Yu's voice was very soft, but very firm, "He won't forget."
He turned and left without even looking at the woman, the certificate in his hand deformed from being clenched.
Walking out of the cafe, the spring breeze blew on my face, bringing a little coolness. Shen Yu took a deep breath and was about to go home when he saw Jiang Yizhou not far away.
He stood under the willow tree, his brows furrowed, obviously having heard the conversation just now. When he saw Shen Yu coming out, he immediately ran over with an anxious and apologetic look on his face.
"Chen Yu, I..."
"You want to transfer schools?" Shen Yu interrupted him, his voice trembling imperceptibly.
Jiang Yizhou's eyes darkened and he nodded: "My mother has already arranged it. I didn't tell you because I was afraid you..."
"Are you afraid that I'll be sad?" Chen Yu looked at him, her eyes red. "Are you planning to keep it a secret from me?"
"No!" Jiang Yizhou hurriedly explained, "I argued with my mother. I said I won't transfer! She didn't listen..." He paused, holding Chen Yu's hand, his eyes very serious, "Chen Yu, I won't leave. I will make it clear to my mother that the person I like is you. I want to go to college with you, together..."
Chen Yu looked at his anxious face flushed, and the grievance and anger in his heart suddenly disappeared. He held Jiang Yizhou's hand with his backhand, and the warm touch from his fingertips made him feel extremely relieved.
"It's okay." Chen Yu smiled, the moisture in his eyes dissipated, "If you really want to leave, it doesn't matter to me. We can write letters, call each other, and meet during the holidays."
He paused and added, "The important thing is that we are all moving forward, right?"
Jiang Yizhou was stunned. Looking at Shen Yu's clear eyes, a warm feeling suddenly surged in his heart. He thought Shen Yu would be angry and cry, but he didn't expect him to be so calm.
This boy who was once sensitive and fragile has unknowingly become strong and brave.
"I'm not leaving." Jiang Yizhou held his hand tightly, his tone extremely firm, "I won't leave no matter what. I want to stay here, with you."
The spring breeze blew, the willow branches swayed, and the wind fell on the two people's clasped hands, like a gentle blessing. In the flower bed not far away, the winter jasmine flowers had already bloomed, a golden patch, like sunshine scattered all over the ground.
Chen Yu looked at Jiang Yizhou's smiling face, then looked at the certificate in his hand, and suddenly felt that this spring really came at the right time.
The gloom and cold winter of the past have passed. Now comes their spring, and the flowers are in full bloom.
