As the competition day approached, Shen Yu's life was filled with formulas and exercises, even memorizing theorems while walking. Jiang Yizhou was true to his word, appearing in class on time every day. Although he often slept on the desk, he would always hand Shen Yu a bottle of warm milk when she tired of solving problems. He didn't know when he had figured out Shen Yu's aversion to cold drinks.

"Here, the boss lady said this brand is good for calcium supplementation." Jiang Yizhou stuffed the milk into his hand, his eyes a little evasive, as if he had done something wrong.

Chen Yu held the warm milk bottle, the warmth from his fingertips spreading through his blood to his heart, warm and cozy. He looked up to say thank you, but saw that Jiang Yizhou had buried his head in his arms, with only the red tip of his ear exposed.

During evening study that day, Shen Yu was stuck on a geometry problem. He drew and erased the pencil on the draft paper, and drew again and again. He was so annoyed that he wanted to tear up the notebook.

"Tsk, these auxiliary lines are like a spider web." A hand suddenly reached out, picked up his pencil, and tapped it lightly on the drawing. "Try connecting it from here."

Chen Yu was stunned for a moment, watching Jiang Yizhou's fingers touch the paper. His fingers were clearly defined, his nails neatly trimmed. Following the position he pointed, the originally tangled pattern suddenly became clear, and his thoughts suddenly became clear, like a river channel being opened up.

"You..." Shen Yu looked at him in surprise, "You can?"

Jiang Yizhou threw the pencil back to him and lay down again, his voice muffled: "I saw you do something similar before, and I happened to remember it."

Chen Yu looked at his fuzzy hair and suddenly remembered that when Jiang Yizhou was lying on the table, he would occasionally secretly look up to watch him do his homework. At that time, he thought he was in a daze. So...

He lowered his head, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise slightly. The pencil in his hand fluently wrote down the steps to solve the problem on the paper. The rustling sound of the pen tip scratching across the paper was particularly clear in the quiet classroom.

After the evening study session, a light snow began to fall again. Jiang Yizhou grabbed Chen Yu's schoolbag, threw it over his shoulder, and walked forward with long legs: "Come on, I'll take you home."

Chen Yu followed behind him, watching his tall back covered in snowflakes, like a furry white coat. He suddenly remembered the red bloodshot eyes and the unhealed scars on Jiang Yizhou's face at the railway crossing that day, and he paused.

"Jiang Yizhou," he called him softly, "those people last time..."

Jiang Yizhou stopped and turned around. Snow fell on his eyelashes, like a layer of broken diamonds. He smiled, his tone as casual as if he was talking about someone else's business: "It was dealt with long ago. It's just a bunch of rabble, nothing to be afraid of."

Chen Yu looked at the openness in his eyes, and the worry in his heart gradually dissipated. He knew Jiang Yizhou didn't want him to worry, just like he always hid his difficulties. But this time, he didn't want to let him carry it alone.

"If you have any problems in the future, tell me." Shen Yu looked into his eyes and said seriously, "Whether it's fighting or...doing homework."

Jiang Yizhou was stunned, then burst into laughter. Snow foam fell down with his movements: "Are you going to protect me, Mr. Chen? Okay, from now on, all the math problems will depend on you."

He walked forward, raised his hand and rubbed Chen Yu's hair, his movements were natural and intimate: "Let's go, if you delay any longer, the snow will fall heavily."

Chen Yu's hair was tangled, but she didn't slap his hand away as usual. He looked at Jiang Yizhou's back as he turned around, the snow reflecting his outline, and the frozen land in his heart seemed to have sprouted quietly.

This winter doesn't seem to be that cold.
