Chapter 56 Chapter 56 Daiyu's Support

Chapter 56 Chapter 56 Daiyu's Support

The prince had nothing to do today, so he suddenly wanted to go and see what Wu Tianyue had been doing at the manor these days. Unexpectedly, he found out at the manor that he had left a letter in the morning, saying that he would take people to suppress the bandits.

After reading the letter, the prince was extremely anxious, but Wu Tianyue did not leave an address, so he could only wait in the manor and ask someone to find out.

There was still no news from the people sent out, and Wu Bu came back: "The prince is back."

The prince shouted angrily, "Bring him in!"

Wu Tianyue listened outside and walked into the house step by step.

"You've become quite capable," the prince said angrily. "You're still going to suppress bandits? Do you think they're all the same rabble from a few days ago?"

Wu Tianyue hurriedly explained, "I ordered people to inquire about it for half a month before going there."

"You still talking back?"

After hearing this, Wu Tianyue quickly shut up and lowered his head.

The prince saw that his clothes were torn and bloody. He was so frightened that he didn't even bother to curse. He asked, "Why are your clothes torn? Are you injured?"

"Just a minor injury." Wu Tianyue stammered, "I didn't expect that man to have a hidden arrow."

The prince then ordered the imperial physician to come. Upon hearing this, he rebuked, "Is this what you meant by investigating for half a month?"

As he spoke, he frowned and said, "How could a small bandit have a hidden arrow?"

Wu Tianyue quickly told what he had learned: "The leader of these bandits is the brother of the concubine that Li Yanei, the brother-in-law of the Chang'an prefect, recently took in. These bandits are only able to act so arrogantly because of Li Yanei's influence."

The prince frowned and said, "Don't worry about this."

Wu Tianyue had long planned to throw this matter to him, and after hearing this, he nodded obediently.

The prince was furious to see that he was pretending to be good. Just as he was about to scold him, he saw the imperial physician come in. He didn't want to embarrass him in front of others, so he stopped talking.

After the imperial physician cleaned and applied the medicine again, Wu Tianyue saw that the prince was about to nag again and hurriedly said, "I have to go back to the city today."

Looking at the cyan color under his eyes, the prince frowned and said, "Why don't you take a good rest? What are you going back for?"

"I promised my mother that I would go back today." Wu Tianyue used Princess Zhongshun as a shield. "If I don't go back, she will definitely worry."

The prince snorted, "Are you afraid your parents will worry, yet you are so reckless?"

After saying this, he thought about what the imperial physician had just said about it being nothing serious, and nodded, saying, "Come back with me, so you don't have to ride a horse again and open your wound."

Wu Tianyue's expression fell when he heard this.

When the prince saw this, he would not allow him to go back alone. He ordered his men to prepare a carriage and went slowly into the city with him.

When they arrived at Prince Zhongshun's mansion, it was already past midnight. The Crown Prince saw Wu Tianyue's anxious face and ordered, "You should take good care of your injuries these few days and don't do anything dangerous like this again."

Wu Tianyue didn't refute it, and asked about what happened next: "Is your injury healed?"

The prince wanted to say no, but these past few days, he had noticed that he was much more energetic when he was out doing martial arts than when he was locked up in his room reciting poetry and couplets. He had also been doing quite well recently, so after thinking it over, he didn't object and just said, "We'll talk about it later."

After saying this, he asked Wu Tianyue to pay his respects to Princess Zhongshun on his behalf, and then ordered his men to set off for home.

Wu Tianyue saw that his meaning was correct and was extremely happy. Turning around, he saw Xue Pan still following him, so he ordered Fei Yan to send him back home and hurried into the palace.

When he learned that the poetry club had dispersed, the female members also went to bed. Wu Tianyue felt very guilty, but he didn't want to disturb Daiyu's rest.

After thinking it over, he ordered the servants and maids to leave, and went to Yuerui Garden alone, carrying a plain silk lantern. He wanted to write a poem so that he could report it to Daiyu tomorrow.

The moonlight was like water, sprinkling on the stone paths in the garden, and the only sound around was the low chirping of autumn insects.

Wu Tianyue climbed the stairs to the flower viewing hall and found Zijuan and Luchen dozing in the small room in front of the hall.

Daiyu hasn't rested yet? Wu Tianyue thought, and hurriedly stepped past the two of them and entered the hall.

The hall was surrounded by gauze curtains on all sides, with only the window facing the flower tree wide open. Because there was no light on, one could see the moon-core flowers under the moonlight through the window, which looked like jade bells condensed with the moon's soul.

Daiyu was sleeping on the beauty couch under the window, with flowers glowing in the moonlight gathered behind her, making her look more like a fairy under the moon.

Wu Tianyue put down the lantern and quietly walked beside Daiyu. He took off his cloak and put it on her. He stared at her for a long moment and couldn't help murmuring, "This flower is solitary and pure, untainted by the hustle and bustle of the world. It really looks like you."

Before he could finish his words, Daiyu snorted softly, "Are you saying that I'm a loner?"

Wu Tianyue was startled, then laughed and said, "Sister, are you not asleep?"

Daiyu opened her eyes and said, "How can anyone sleep if you're making so much noise?"

"Then I'll take you back to your room first." Wu Tianyue didn't argue and said with a smile, "It's too cold to sleep here. What if you catch a cold tomorrow?"

"The charcoal fire burned in vain," Daiyu said, and then asked, "Where did you go today?"

Wu Tianyue hurriedly explained, "There was something going on at the farm, and the prince went there today to take care of it. I came with him, but he insisted on taking a carriage, so we didn't catch up."

Then he asked, "Where are the poems you wrote today? Let me open my eyes."

"You haven't written a poem yourself, and you want to see ours?" Daiyu sat up and pointed to the paper and pen on the table. "Write one first and I'll take a look."

Wu Tianyue smiled and said, "I can write it, but I'm not very good at writing poetry. Even if it's not good, I would like to ask Miss Lin to show her kindness and let me learn a few things."

Daiyu chuckled, then calmed herself down and said, "That depends on your performance."

Lü Chen and his companions happened to hear the conversation between the two people in the room and poured some hot tea. Wu Tianyue hurriedly brought it over and offered it to Daiyu, saying, "Moisten your throat, young lady."

Daiyu took the tea and took a sip: "If you can make it, I will reward you with it."

"Thank you, young lady." Wu Tianyue clasped his fists to express his gratitude, then took out a pen and paper to write a poem.

Daiyu picked it up and read it, frowning and commenting, "You've regressed a lot recently."

Then he pointed at a sentence and said, "I asked you to write about flowers, why did you write about this?"

Wu Tianyue knew without even looking that it was the line he had used to praise her, and smiled, "Of course, because in my opinion, there is only one line of poetry that can barely explain the girl's character: How can I look up to the lofty mountains? I can only bow to the pure fragrance."

Daiyu was stunned for a moment, the corners of her lips curved slightly, and she cursed: "You are so smooth-talking."

"Miss, I'm telling the truth."

Seeing that he was becoming more and more unreliable, Daiyu didn't want to pay any attention to him. She picked up the poem she had copied today from the table and threw it over his shoulder.

Wu Tianyue felt pain, stepped back slightly, and took the poem book with a smile.

I thought Daiyu hadn't noticed, but she suddenly grabbed the other side of the poetry book and asked, "What's wrong with your hand?"

Wu Tianyue smiled and said, "Nothing serious, maybe I just rode the horse for too long."

Daiyu didn't believe it, so she snatched the poetry book away and put it on the table, then stepped forward and said, "Tell me the truth."

Wu Tianyue saw that he couldn't hide it, so he laughed and said, "I encountered a little thief today. I was caught off guard when I caught him, and I got a little injured."

Daiyu was so anxious that she stepped forward to pull his clothes and asked, "Where are you hurt?"

"It's just a minor injury. I've already asked the imperial physician to check it out." Wu Tianyue dodged and pointed at his left shoulder. "You don't look like a lady like this."

"I'm not a lady from a wealthy family." Daiyu realized that something was wrong and stopped, but she didn't want to let him go. "Untie it and let me see."

Wu Tianyue smiled and pulled Daiyu's hand: "It's really just a minor injury. I'll let you know when I get seriously injured in the future. By then, maybe my sister won't be able to bear it, and you can take care of me personally."

"How can you say that?" Daiyu wanted to shake him off, but she was afraid his wound would split open, so she glared at him and said, "Hurry up."

"I was wrong." Wu Tianyue continued to hold Daiyu tightly, not wanting her to look, "I won't say it again."

Daiyu snorted and continued, "Hurry up, or I'll do it myself."

Wu Tianyue failed and had to slowly undress.

Daiyu saw the blood seeping from his shoulder, and tears welled up in her eyes. She subconsciously reached out to touch it, but she didn't dare to put her hand on it. She bit her lip and asked with a sob, "Does it hurt?"

It would be a lie to say that it didn't hurt, but Wu Tianyue had been practicing martial arts for many years, so he could still bear it. And now that he had Daiyu's care, he felt even less pain. He smiled and said, "It doesn't hurt when I think of my sister."

Daiyu reached out and grabbed his ear: "Be serious."

Wu Tianyue hurriedly said: "I was wrong."

Only after hearing him admit his mistake did Daiyu let go, snorted, and sat down on the couch.

Wu Tianyue followed and sat beside her. He pressed his fingers into Daiyu's fingers, then bent them slightly and interlocked theirs. He said with a smile, "Sister, why didn't you stop me this time?"

Daiyu felt her hand being wrapped by him, and she felt a subtle sense of security, which made her feel very relieved. After hearing this, she lowered her head and thought about it, then shook her head and said, "This is what you want to do, just do it."

Wu Tianyue didn't expect her to answer like this. He was happy that she understood him and touched that she supported him. He didn't know how to react for a moment.

Seeing him in a daze, Daiyu found it a little funny, but when she thought that he was injured today but wanted to hide it from her, she became angry again. Determined to scare him, she deliberately turned her head and moved closer.

Wu Tianyue was indeed frightened and quickly tilted his head back.

Then, seeing Daiyu covering her mouth and laughing, she guessed that she did it on purpose and complained, "You scared me again."

Daiyu laughed so hard that tears came out: "Who told you to lie to me?"

Wu Tianyue felt guilty instantly: "I just didn't tell you."

Seeing Daiyu glaring, he added, "It won't be like this anymore."

Only then did Daiyu give up.

As the two of them were playing around, Zijuan and Luchen came in and said, "Young lady, it's time to rest. We still have to entertain some princesses tomorrow."

Daiyu glanced at the clock in the room and saw that it was really late, so she nodded.

Wu Tianyue took out the poems signed by "Xiaoxiang Concubine" from the album and said, "I'll take these back to enjoy them."

Seeing that they were all hers, Daiyu did not stop him.

The two of them came out together, and Wu Tianyue sent Daiyu back to Xianyun Tower before turning back to his room to rest.

The next day, Wu Tianyue did not go out because he was taken away by the prince to recuperate. He got up early to pay his respects to Princess Zhongshun, had dinner with his sisters, and accompanied Daiyu to see everyone off one by one before preparing to return to the Grand View Garden with Tanchun and others.

After saying goodbye to Princess Zhongshun, the carriage had just started when a small child suddenly rushed over from the outside. The guard nearby picked her up with one hand, and before he could ask her anything, he heard her shout, "Please, young lady, save my mother."

But the carriage was surrounded by layers of people, so Daiyu and others could not hear anything.

The little girl screamed for a while, and when she saw the carriage was about to pass, she felt very desperate. Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure and shouted, "Uncle Xue, help me."

Wu Tianyue saw Fei Yan stop his horse and turn around to look at him. He was shocked and asked, "Do you know him?"

Before Feiyan could answer, Daiyu heard the commotion outside. She lifted the curtain and was about to ask what was going on when she saw the little girl she had seen last time at the alms being caught by a guard outside.

The little girl was thin and small, with a dirty face. She had lost her innocence and was now in a state of panic. She hurriedly said, "Put it down quickly."

After hearing this, the guard hurriedly put the little girl down.

As soon as the little girl landed on the ground, she ran to Daiyu's carriage, knelt on the ground and kowtowed: "Please, young lady, save my mother."

Daiyu hurriedly asked, "What happened?" and asked someone to help her up.

The maid following the carriage hurriedly pulled her up, and everyone returned to the palace.
