Chapter 207 Sending Suihe to the Army

Jiang Shaoming had been working non-stop for the past two days, but thankfully, the case was becoming clearer. He couldn't help but feel excited, as tomorrow was the day his son would be leaving for his old unit. Amidst the intense interrogation, Jiang Shaoming suddenly remembered one important thing he hadn't yet done: inquire whether Jiang Wenyi had already reported to the village armed forces.

So, he stopped what he was doing, glanced at the wall clock, then picked up the phone and dialed the number for the township armed forces department. As the beeping began, Jiang Shaoming felt a little nervous, unsure what news the call would bring. Finally, a voice came from the other end of the line: "Hello, this is the Ă— Township Armed Forces Department..."

A familiar voice answered the phone. He could guess who it was from a few words. He asked him to wait, then called for Jiang Wenyi to answer the phone. Suihe was filling out paperwork in the next room. Hearing the call, he immediately rushed over and quickly answered the phone.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Suihe eagerly recounted to his father what had happened the previous day in An Cuiyun's backyard in the village. Liang Shaoming was astonished to learn that even a place like Guanjia Village held the existence of that mysterious talisman organization. He deeply appreciated his son's discovery and promised to personally follow up on any further matters, freeing Suihe from any further worries. Before hanging up, Liang Shaoming repeatedly reminded him of matters at the army, giving him further instructions before finally letting go.

After completing the formalities, Suihe left the Armed Forces Department with a firm and powerful step, carrying his brand new uniform and other issued items. Full of longing and expectation for the future, he headed straight for the commune, ready to look for his fourth uncle.

When he arrived at the commune, he happened to run into his aunt, who had also arrived looking for Suihe. Her gaze fell on Suihe's neatly trimmed military uniform, her eyes gleaming with pride and delight. Professor Dong couldn't contain her excitement; she wanted to pull out her camera and capture this moment forever.

Afterwards, they went to a restaurant with the village chief and Uncle Seven to eat. Professor Dong had actually already eaten his fill in the space, so he made an excuse that he was not very hungry and gave the rest to Suihe.

After dinner, the village chief was still a little angry, as if he had not yet completely calmed down. So Suihe and Professor Dong comforted him while they slowly set off on the road home in Uncle Qi's ox cart.

The next morning, Professor Dong and Fifth Grandpa saw Suihe off to the train. As the train slowly left the platform, Fifth Grandpa gently patted his daughter-in-law's shoulder, who was crying loudly, and said softly, "Don't cry. The child has grown up and will leave us sooner or later..."

After calming down a bit, I rushed to the so-called "Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital." It sounded impressive, but in reality, it was just a small, abandoned courtyard. It usually took in abandoned children, and its scope of service was perhaps slightly broader than that of a traditional orphanage.

Professor Dong's purpose for this trip was to see how the women who had been trafficked were faring. These poor women had been on his mind for a while. If he found they were not living a happy life, he would take them into the space without hesitation—perhaps there would be a safer and more comfortable place for them.
