Chapter 216 The complexity and helplessness of life

Although the black market was temporarily closed, the gang leader had a busy schedule. Jiang Huashu had assigned him an important mission: to search for homeless and homeless people and bring them to the "military base" in the mountains. This mission was crucial and must be completed first.

After successfully rescuing over a hundred abducted women and upgrading the space, it hadn't upgraded since then. Even after participating in the arrest of spies in the provincial capital, the space hadn't upgraded. And even after bringing the forty-eight rescued women into the space, it still hadn't upgraded again.

The three time travelers racked their brains but couldn't figure out what exactly caused the upgrade to stop. Was it because women entering the space were not worthy of upgrading, or had the upgrade rules changed? Since there was no instruction manual for the space, they knew nothing about it.

Meanwhile, the underworld boss's minions are traveling from village to village, setting up shop. Their business model is similar to the peddlers of the past, but with upgrades, they've now expanded to a scale where they drive large trucks from village to village, selling goods. However, can they really make money this way? Actually, not much. But since it's Fourth Brother (Jiang Huashu)'s order, there must be a reason for it. Furthermore, Fourth Brother provides the diesel they use free of charge, which means their labor costs are slightly lower.

Fifth Grandpa and his crew were sending the third batch of villagers, mountain dwellers, and homeless people into the space today. This time, they were transporting the largest number of people, over 200 people, and the transportation would be split into two parts: one for the mountain dwellers and villagers, and another for the homeless people.

Grandpa Wu rose early, a little after four o'clock, and entered the space to lead the group in upgrading the truck. Inside the truck bed, several thick, single-size mattresses were stacked one on top of the other. This arrangement was made with the understanding that most of the people entering the space today were families, many of them elderly and children. With these mattresses, even if they had to sit for several hours, the elderly and children wouldn't suffer too much.

After everyone finished breakfast, Fifth Grandpa, Professor Dong, and Jiang Huashu left the village together. They first retrieved a truck from their space and drove Jiang Huashu to work. Then, they returned to the mountainside to greet the people.

When the car arrived at the foot of the mountain, Grandpa Wu was surprised to find that the people from the mountains had brought a lot of things! Although he repeatedly emphasized that they didn't need to bring too much, they still packed their bags with all kinds of items as if they were moving house. Grandpa Wu glanced around and found that the number of people had changed a bit, and was less than he had agreed.

He secretly wondered if these people might want to give it a try, but were also worried about being scammed. That's why they left some people behind as a backup. This conflicting desire and fear made Fifth Grandpa sigh at the complexity and helplessness of life.

Professor Dong had been incredibly busy these past two days, and hadn't had time to clean up the new house he'd bought near the commune. He and Fifth Grandpa had only given it a cursory clean that day, putting the tables, chairs, and the old bed away, without having time to replace the furniture. Consequently, Jiang Huashu had been commuting back and forth between the commune and the village, relying on his car to get to work.
