Chapter 547: Soldier Ding’s Family (Part 2)

Just like that, Ding Hai saw his "family" who were like a dog-skin plaster without any psychological preparation. He never expected that they could find this place.

Ding Hai's mother's surname was Sun. When the old lady saw Ding Hai, dressed in his security uniform and army green rubber-soled shoes, his face looked completely different from the one he had at home. His eyes were filled with rage. He had just stopped them at the door and now he saluted the little brat. She was so angry that she walked over and slapped Ding Hai twice in the face.

Ding Hai could actually dodge it. After all, he had been a soldier for thirteen years. If he hadn't lost an arm, he might have stayed in the army. Now he deliberately let the old lady hit him.

Ding Hai is no longer in the same mindset as when he was just demobilized. His longing for home and his expectation for his mother's love have been tortured to the point of being almost gone by the family at the behest of the old lady for more than three years. He often missed home when he was in the army, but since he was injured and retired and can no longer earn money, he has truly felt how his family treats him, so he is heartbroken.

"You old dog Ding, you are such a piece of shit. You came to Kyoto to enjoy the good life and left me at home without paying any attention to me. What kind of son is this? Aren't you afraid of being struck by lightning? You are so unfilial. In the past, you would have been expelled from the clan." Ding Hainiang had a loud voice, and her accusations attracted all the people at the door to come over.

"Mom, this is a new society. We don't follow the old ways anymore," Ding Hai said sullenly. He didn't say a word in response to the old lady's accusations.

"You are an ungrateful person! I raised you with all my heart and soul, and this is how you treat me? You want to get rid of me now that I'm old? No way." Old lady Sun glared at Ding Hai fiercely and said with gritted teeth.

"Mom, you're wrong to say that. How am I an ungrateful person? I served in the army for thirteen years, working tirelessly on missions, and I sent all my allowances and food coupons back home. No one in our family went out to earn money, yet we built three new houses in the village. Where did the money come from? Where did the money come from for the wives my three brothers all married at high prices? Where did the money come from? Where do your precious grandchildren get the malted milk they drink and the eggs they eat every day?"

Ding Hai said this last sentence with tears in his eyes. The crowd of onlookers were filled with discussions. Some, initially unaware of the truth, accused Ding Hai of being unfilial. Others, curious about whether a soldier could do such a thing, and the reasons behind it must be more complicated, cast inquiring glances at him. Ding Hai stood there, his whole body exuding a sense of decadence.

He knew his mother's temper well. Once she got angry, she was very difficult to deal with, and it would be difficult to calm her down even if the sky fell and the earth collapsed. And every time she got angry, it was because she wanted something or had something to do.

Every time she came back from visiting relatives, she would get angry as soon as she entered the door. As long as Ding Hai gave her all the allowance he had on him and she searched him all over, she would calm down for no reason.

It has been thirteen years since she joined the army, and Ding Hai knows too well what her purpose is, but this time Ding Hai will not agree.

He knew only too well how difficult his mother was to deal with. She was disorganized and undisciplined, doing whatever she wanted and fearing no one. If he let her in, the entire Aimin community would be in trouble. Besides this, the old lady also had a voracious appetite, daydreaming all day long. If he let her in, she would definitely dream of making this her own home, and she would actually put her dreams into action.

If you can't win the argument, you'll cry, make a scene, or even hang yourself. I've finally found a place to stay here, and I can't let my mother block this path.
