Chapter 60 People from the Commune Come to Show a Movie

After Guan Huashu arranged for projectionist Li, he returned home calmly.

When I got home and told my fifth grandfather about what I had discovered, he thought for a moment that the bumper harvest in our production team must have attracted the attention of some hidden bad elements, who were out to sabotage us. After some discussion, we decided to wait and see what they were up to.

The area around the brigade headquarters was open and difficult to hide in, so they had to arrange for a militiaman who was skilled in martial arts to hide in a tree at a distance. At this time of year, the leaves were dense, and it was dark, so even if someone hid in the tree, it would be impossible to detect them.

After the movie was over, the villagers all went home to sleep, and projectionist Li also packed up and went back to his room to rest.

In the middle of the night, the door of the west room opened silently, and Projectionist Li walked out of the room silently like a cat, observing his surroundings vigilantly. People even breathed lightly when they saw him come out.

Suihe was a rather pitiful child. His family was incredibly poor. His father, already in poor health, was constantly burdened by medical expenses, leaving the family with no money at all. He died when Suihe was in his teens. Later, Suihe learned hunting from an old hunter in the village, and then from martial arts practitioners. He was also diligent, and gradually, his mother and he lived together. During the first year of the famine, his mother fell ill again and was hospitalized in the county for about a month. She eventually died, unable to bear it, leaving him alone.

After traveling through time from the trio, Guan Huashu liked this simple child very much and often invited him home for dinner. Knowing that he was good at martial arts, he transferred him to the militia. The child was also sensible and completed the tasks assigned to him seriously. Now he is Guan Huashu's "little tail".

Suihe saw that projectionist Li was holding a large bag in his arms, which looked quite heavy. He looked around as he walked, and headed towards the mountains cautiously.

Suihe quietly slipped down the tree and followed behind, walking neither too far nor too close. His uncle only asked him to monitor, not to arrest anyone.

Projectionist Li walked to the edge of the mountain, spent a long time choosing a tree and digging a hole, then buried the package in it. After burying it, he looked around and turned back to the west room of the brigade headquarters.

Suihe followed projectionist Li back, climbed up the tree and waited for more than an hour. After making sure that he would not come out again, he hurried to his second uncle's house to tell him the news.

Guan Huashu hadn't slept very soundly that night, fearing something might happen. He woke up when Suihe knocked on the door, came out dressed, listened to him, and then went inside to wake Fifth Grandpa. He then sent him to the militia captain's house to call him, and several of them quickly ran to the mountainside.

I went to the tree where the thing was buried and shone a flashlight under it, but I didn't see any special marks or symbols. I just dug up the soil and found a large cloth bag buried inside. I took it out and saw that it was a wrapped wooden box.

Inside the box was a radio, the kind you see in movies that send telegrams.

Guan Huashu has watched too many spy films in modern times, and now that he can personally participate in one, he feels like he has been given a shot of chicken blood.

As soon as Fifth Grandpa saw the radio, he quickly packed it up and buried it, restoring it to its original state. He gave Suihe his gun and told him to return to the tree to monitor, taking care not to alert the enemy. The militia captain and two others hid in a nearby yard, ready to support Suihe if necessary. Guan Huashu and Fifth Grandpa drove the animal cart to the county public security bureau.

On the way, the two of them kept discussing why a radio station was buried in their village.

When they arrived at the county police station, there was only an old policeman on duty. After knocking on the door for a long time, he finally heard any movement. After Fifth Grandpa explained his purpose, the old policeman woke up immediately and asked them to sit for a while while he went to call someone.

After a while, two police officers came. That was all they had. In those days, a village was usually equipped with two or three police officers, and the county would come to support if there was any problem.

A newly arrived policeman should be the head here. His surname is Wu. He had heard the old policeman talk about what happened on the way here. After entering the house, he exchanged pleasantries and called the county public security bureau using the phone on the table. After the call was connected, he handed it to Guan Huashu, who took it and reported the whole incident in the shortest language. The other party asked him to go back and keep quiet, and they would send someone over immediately.

After receiving the order, the father and son drove back to Guanjia Village.
