Old Man Guan said something to his wife, who was chopping chicken feed in the yard, and walked out of the house toward the village. It was only two days after the seeds were planted that the members had a chance to rest, otherwise they would have been too busy during the day.
The militiamen who were watching nearby saw Old Man Guan coming out of his house and quickly crouched down. Once he was far away, they quietly followed him. Old Man Guan hadn't expected anyone to be watching him, so he walked to the foot of the mountain as usual, pretending to find a place to relax and wandering around to see if anyone was following him. After confirming that no one was following him, he didn't hesitate and strode up the mountain.
The militiamen who had been following him waited for about ten minutes until Old Man Guan had left. Then they ran home, got some firecrackers, and lit them in their yard. The crackling sound of the firecrackers spread far away, and Guan Huashu and others who had been lying in ambush halfway up the mountain could vaguely hear it. This was their agreed signal: as soon as Old Man Guan came up the mountain, they would set off firecrackers to notify them.
Knowing that Old Man Guan had arrived, everyone became excited and hid far away in the cave, waiting for him to fall into their trap.
After waiting for about an hour, Old Man Guan arrived.
This old fellow was really cunning. He carried a backpack, pretending to go up the mountain to collect firewood, and put a few dead sticks in the backpack. He wandered around the cave, looking here and there, as if looking for wild vegetables, but in fact he was observing footprints and traces of wild grass.
Suihe has been hunting for many years, and tracking prey and covering up traces are essential skills. After going up the mountain, he had already cleaned up all the traces of everyone near the cave and restored them to their original state.
Old Man Guan walked around for a while and didn't find anything unusual, so he walked straight towards the cave, bypassed a few messy big rocks, and entered the cave.
After waiting for a while, Guan Huashu followed quietly in with the militia. Chang Hai and his men were lying in ambush near the earthen house to provide support.
Old Man Guan walked out of the cave and stood at the door of the earthen house. He wanted to remove the mine fuse behind the door panel before entering the house. When he looked, the fuse was gone, and he knew something had happened.
He gently pushed the door open, walked into the house and saw that everything was gone, then immediately turned around and walked out. As soon as he left the house, a gun was pointed at his forehead.
Suihe held a gun to Guan Lao's head
"Second Grandpa, where are you going?"
"You're so easy-going. I came here to collect firewood and found a house here, so I came in to take a look. Why are you pointing a gun at me? You little bastard, are you looking for a beating? Put the gun away quickly!" Old man Guan is indeed a fighter among spies, he is very steady.
"Second Grandpa, we've been waiting for you for ages. Are you looking for Zhang Zhiqing?" At the mention of Zhang Zhiqing, Old Man Guan's face didn't show any unusual expression, but the corners of his mouth tightened a little. Suihe stared at him, not missing a single detail. In those days, there was no micro-expression psychology, but Suihe had already noticed the difference in his expression. Very good, he couldn't hold his temper any longer.
"Why would I look for him? Didn't they say he was killed by a wild beast in the mountains?"
"Who said he was the one who bitten to death?"
Hearing this, Old Man Guan could no longer hide his true feelings and his expression changed. Thinking that his change of expression might expose him, he immediately changed the subject and led the conversation in another direction: "You idiot, how long are you going to hold this thing against me? You deserve a beating, don't you?" Old Man Guan was determined to continue playing dirty, and with these words, his change of expression was no longer suspicious.
"Second Grandpa, we're all hawks, so stop pretending to be innocent. Zhang Zhiqing has confessed everything, so don't worry about him for now. Think about how to rescue yourself first."
After saying that, he asked the militia to tie up the old man with a rope and take him down the mountain.
