Chapter 6 Awkward Encounter

The twenty yuan bill in my hand was wrinkled.

I told myself I wanted to work during the summer vacation, and my mother gave me a hundred dollars last night.

When she separated from her father in the morning, her father gave her fifty yuan and asked her to go eat something. Now he gave her another twenty yuan, making a total of one hundred and seventy yuan.

The interface shows 1,160 yuan and it will not increase any more.

The money given by the system today has reached its cap. I walked 10,000 steps in just one morning.

After spending money, Su Xiaoqi finally confirmed that this system really existed and was not something he had imagined.

If you make one thousand yuan a day and thirty days a month, that would be thirty thousand yuan.

Then you don’t have to worry about your tuition fees at all, half a month is enough to pay it.

But paying tuition is different from buying clothes. You can’t cheat, and you still need a source of income.

She had just casually mentioned that she wanted to be a tutor yesterday, but today she decided to actually find a tutoring job.

You can stay at your cousin's house temporarily.

She used to have some face.

She felt it was shameful to go out to work, but when she returned home this time, she realized that in the middle of the night when other families were asleep, her parents were still working, working hard, earning a meager amount of money, and then giving it all to her.

Compared to this, she should be very proud to work, and it is not shameful at all.

Another thing is that she has money now, and her feelings are different.

If you don't have money, going to work is a way to survive.

When seeking survival, one must always be cautious, fearing that one might make a mistake and lose the chance to survive.

But having money in my pocket gives me an inexplicable sense of confidence, and I can survive even if I lose my job.

We go to work to gain more, besides money, also other things like how to deal with people and behave in society.

Su Xiaoqi walked all the way to her aunt's house.

My aunt's house is actually just a hospital dormitory.

The hospital is right next to No. 1 Middle School. My aunt is a nurse in the hospital, responsible for the hygiene on the first floor of the inpatient department. She works almost 24 hours a day, so the hospital provides dormitories.

But the conditions were very simple. Unlike the resting place for doctors and nurses, it was on the basement floor of the hospital. It was dark inside with a window on one side, and the hospital morgue was not far away.

Living next door to my aunt was a family of four from another province, a couple and two children.

The man in this family is a nurse on the second floor of the hospital. His son is one year older than Su Xiaoqi, but they are in the same grade and attend No. 2 Middle School.

Su Xiaoqi is in No. 1 Middle School.

Being a girl at heart, Su Xiaoqi looked down on the other party a little. The other party was from No. 2 Middle School, an ordinary high school, while she was from No. 1 Middle School, a key high school. Of course, she had some other emotions as well. The boy was quite handsome, tall and thin.

Even though they were all caregivers, there were distinctions between high and low. In this dim tunnel, her aunt was probably the worst off. She was divorced and single, working all day, and was seriously overweight, weighing about 150 pounds, making her look obese and stupid.

But my aunt has a really good personality. She treats Su Xiaoqi like her own daughter. No matter how hard she works every day, she always prepares meals on time and waits for her to eat.

My aunt’s only entertainment was to lie in this dark little room, turn on the radio, play a record of Dream of the Red Chamber, and listen to the humming and humming voice in it.

Su Xiaoqi has a very vivid memory. During the college entrance examination, there happened to be a question related to the Dream of the Red Chamber, and she answered it very smoothly.

She was thinking about all these things along the way. When she passed a cake shop, she paused and went in to buy a small cake, the kind of birthday cake. It cost twelve dollars to cut a small piece.

Her aunt often brought her various fruits, which were all given to her by patients.

So there was no shortage of fruit, but there were no cakes or anything like that. She remembered that her aunt loved sweets...which was also one of the reasons why she was fat.

She had never bought anything for her aunt before because her own pocket money was not enough.

Her aunt liked her very much, and Su Xiaoqi understood that feeling a little bit. Her aunt was divorced and her daughter was not around, while other families lived next door together. As her niece who studied at No. 1 Middle School, it became a need for her to have dinner with her every day.

While Su Xiaoqi was grateful for her aunt's kindness, she also felt a little disgusted with her aunt's shortcomings.

That kind of vanity and complicated feelings are probably difficult for seventeen-year-old Su Xiaoqi to describe.

She was carrying the cake and met her aunt at the hospital gate. Her aunt just came out to take out the trash.

At noon, it was hot and she was sweating all over. Her face was sunburned red. When she saw Su Xiaoqi coming, a smile bloomed on her face like a flower.

"Xiaoqi, why are you here? I thought you wouldn't come again." She quickly took out the trash and walked over.

In the past, Xiaoqi was reluctant to argue with her aunt at the hospital entrance because she was worried that her classmates would see her.

But now I feel much calmer.

"Aunt, I bought you a cake. I want to find a summer job and see if there is any tutoring or something, so I have to trouble you during this period."

When the aunt heard that Xiaoqi actually bought her a cake, she was very happy. She rubbed her hands hard on her clothes before taking it.

"You were away for the past two days, and I kept all the fruits given to me by the patients, including longan and dragon fruit. I didn't eat the ones you liked, and it's just right that you came."

My aunt is fat and has a naturally loud voice.

Xiaoqi greeted the patients, their families and hospital staff along the way, and followed his aunt obediently down to the basement.

Unexpectedly, she saw the boy living next door as soon as she walked out of the stairs. Su Xiaoqi pushed her glasses up a little embarrassedly.

It was very embarrassing because she met Liu Shaowei on the day she received the notice.

The boy who had agreed with her before the college entrance examination to apply to the same university.

Then Su Xiaoqi did not do well in the exam and was admitted to a second-tier private fake university, while Liu Shaowei performed well and got a first-tier university score of 985.

Su Xiaoqi went to a city in the south, and Liu Shaowei went north.

The gap in life begins from here, it seems to be a world of difference, like a huge chasm that cannot be crossed.

That day, she stood in front of Liu Shaowei, and Liu Shaowei just gave her an awkward smile before being surrounded by a group of classmates. It seemed that they were celebrating his admission to university and had even made an appointment to go to KTV.

She stood there, crying like a dog.

I didn’t do well in the college entrance examination, and I’m very sad. The person I liked is gone too, and I’m very sad. I can’t tell which emotion is sadder.

As luck would have it, she cried so much that her glasses fell to the ground. The glasses were picked up by the boy who lived next door to her aunt and given to her.

Her eyes were blurred from crying and her nose was running.

It's so embarrassing.

"Xiao Lin, I heard that you were admitted to Mengshi City. My Xiao Qi was also admitted to Mengshi City. You two should take care of each other when the time comes." Auntie greeted loudly.

Su Xiaoqi could only stand aside and smile awkwardly.

Very embarrassing.

Although he was in No. 2 Middle School, he was admitted to the best university in the league city, while she was in No. 1 Middle School, but attended an unnamed private school in the league city. There is no comparison at all.

"Okay, Aunt Su, I found a part-time job. I'll be out first. We'll talk later." He smiled politely and walked out sideways.

"Hey, um, classmate Lin, wait a minute." Su Xiaoqi called him with a slightly red face.

She had only been in school before and had very little social experience, let alone a part-time job. Now that she heard him talk about taking a part-time job so calmly, she thought she could ask him.

"Then you guys chat, I'll go cook." Auntie walked away carelessly.

Su Xiaoqi was left standing there, adjusting his glasses again, trying to keep his head up and chest out, looking straight at the other person.

"Well, I also want to find a part-time job as a tutor or something. Can you tell me how to get there?"

On the narrow staircase, Lin Min didn't expect that Su Xiaoqi would actually take the initiative to talk to him. He saw her standing in front of him, with white cheeks and a little baby fat, curved eyes, red lips, and a pair of black-framed glasses blocking most of her face. In fact, she was much prettier, because he often saw her washing her hair. Every time he saw her after washing her hair, she wrapped her head with a towel, took off her glasses, and looked soft and cute.

But when he puts on glasses, he becomes a little fierce and proud, and not easy to get along with.

He smiled and said, "Okay, then come with me. I have an interview for a tutor today."
