Chapter 33: Departure for a New Home

The three siblings wandered around the streets for two days. Before dawn on the third day, Ningxia woke up Lin Yi and Sangsang, packed up quickly, and took Maomao with her to the trading point.

"This must be the Ningxia girl we are escorting."

Ningxia had just arrived when a burly man came towards her. She nodded in confusion, "It's me. Sorry to bother everyone."

The person who answered chuckled, his white teeth seeming to shine against his dark face. "It's not a bother, it's my duty. But could I trouble you to cook for us these few days? I've already prepared the ingredients. Thank you for your hard work."

Ningxia naturally hurried to meet him.

The four people at the back also packed their belongings, and they hurriedly loaded their luggage onto Maomao. Maomao carried nearly 400 kilograms of luggage, but he didn't seem to be struggling at all. It was a far cry from the mules he had used before the disaster.

The remaining two hundred pounds were divided up cleanly among the five soldiers, leaving the three siblings with no burden at all. Ningxia looked at the man in command with gratitude.

Noticing Ningxia's gaze, the man smiled and said, "Sister, I'm their squad leader. You can just call me Li Gang. The journey may be a bit difficult, but I promise to get you there safely."

"That's not what I meant! I just want to trouble everyone. It's causing trouble for everyone with their families."

"It's not a big deal. We've been patrolling the forest area for a few years now, and this is the first time we're helping people settle down. Those guys stationed in the city carry luggage for people every day, so we can finally get a taste of what it's like to serve the people."

Ningxia felt much more at ease knowing that she was not an exception and that she was not being taken care of because of Sister Ming.

"Then sister, we'll be ready to go when you're ready. It's cool now, so let's hurry up and cover more distance."

Ningxia responded, and several soldiers wanted to carry Sangsang as well, but Sangsang refused with a tearful smile and waved his hands. His cute appearance made everyone laugh.

“Ningxia!”

Ningxia turned around and saw Song Minghua coming over breathlessly. Judging from the direction, she came from the community at the end of the street. It was hard for her to get up so early.

"Sister, I will have to return to the shelter in about ten days, and we may not see each other for a long time, but I promise you that as long as we solve the resettlement issues of the people of Liefeng, I will ask someone to inform you even if I don't come." Song Minghua hugged Sangsang, who looked reluctant, and solemnly promised Ningxia.

Ningxia was stunned. She didn't expect her to come over and tell her this. "Thank you, Sister Ming. If I hadn't met you along the way, I really don't know what I would have done."

"It's all fate. I like you very much, little girl. Live a good life." Song Minghua pinched Sangsang's little face, "Go quickly, don't delay your journey."

Ningxia was about to say something when Song Minghua pushed her into the crowd. "Hurry up and don't delay. Ningxia, if you want to go home, remember to come find me at Chocobo Shelter No. 1. I'll take you back." Song Minghua's last words were particularly serious. Go home? Ningxia was in a daze, and Song Minghua left her with only a thin and tall back.

The group set off on their journey. Ningxia smiled bitterly, lowering her head and staring at the road in a daze. Home? Where could she find a home? The orphanage wasn't her home. Her home was right beside her. Ningxia lowered her head and touched Sangsang's head.

"Sister Xia Xia, what are you thinking about?" Lin Yi came to Ning Xia at some point, his eyes full of worry. They had been gone for quite a while, and Sister Xia Xia was obviously absent-minded. He was worried that she had fallen.

Ningxia looked up and smiled, "I'm just thinking about where to start when I move to my new home." No, she has a home, a home consisting of Ningsang, Lin Yi, and Ningxia.

"Don't worry, Sister Xia Xia, Uncle Gang and the others said they would teach me how to hunt. Once I learn it, I won't be afraid anymore." Lin Yi believed it and thought Ningxia was worried about the lives of three people, so he hurried to comfort her.

Ningxia looked at Lin Yi's thin body, and her eyebrows curved, "Okay, it's up to you." The uneven crew cut on the other's head had grown a lot. Not to mention, with Lin Yi's face with distinct features and the mixed clothes on his body, there was a taste of a rebellious punk boy.

After the group had been traveling for the entire morning, Ningxia finally understood why Sister Ming said that it would take eight or ten years to find the way out. It was so roundabout. At first, Ningxia tried hard to remember the way, but after two hours, she felt dizzy and gave up. She just followed Brother Li Gang and the others since they wouldn't get lost anyway.

As for why the soldiers dragged so much luggage as if they were walking on flat ground and went into the woods without even communicating much, Ningxia felt that they were just going wherever they wanted. Ningxia silently prayed in her heart that they could get home safely.

At noon, everyone found a relatively cool flat place to set up camp. Sangsang didn't get enough sleep in the morning, and was now sleeping soundly in the arms of a young man. They had been sleeping all the way, and Ningxia felt a little embarrassed. She wanted to ask her to come down several times, but the young soldier stopped her with a smile.

Lin Yi was fine too, not looking tired at all. The group wasn't actually walking very fast, mainly to accommodate Maomao. So he didn't seem particularly tired.

Li Gang smiled and said, "Don't worry, Ningxia girl. I may not be fast, but I will definitely get you there."

Ningxia waved her hands quickly, "Brother Li Gang, just go on as usual. And don't call Ningxia sister anymore, just call me Ningxia."

Li Gang grinned, "Okay, Ningxia."

"Brother, are you going to eat roasted potatoes for lunch?" Ningxia looked at several grown men, each holding a bunch of potatoes and planning to roast them directly.

Li Gang lit the fire skillfully and said, "Yes, eating potatoes is easier."

Ningxia hesitated to speak. She felt really bad for seeing several strong men carrying so much luggage for her, only to have to eat a few roasted potatoes. "How about... I cook?"
