Chapter 84: Unexpected Gains

Seeing Ningxia's figure, Le Zhengtang's eyes flashed with surprise, and then his face turned even paler. He couldn't let this beast discover her. In a flash, when Le Zhengtang fired the last bullet, Ningxia raised her pistol and pointed it at the wild boar's head without hesitation.

Just then, Le Zhengtang's bullet hit the wild boar's abdomen. The wild boar felt pain, raised its head and howled, and accidentally avoided the bullet shot by Ningxia.

The angry wild boar raised its head and screamed, rolling around and turning its head to face Ningxia. At this time, it was completely crazy, and its narrow brain capacity did not allow it to take care of anything. It howled and rushed towards Ningxia.

“Ningxia!”

Ningxia rolled neatly to the side and back, barely avoiding the boar's long tusks. Raising his pistol, he fired three shots without hesitation. Although he missed the vital parts, he managed to knock the boar to the ground. The boar, weighing over 200 pounds, wasn't very strong, and it lay on the ground, panting heavily.

The crisis was temporarily resolved. Ning Xia raised his hand and shot the wild boar twice in the head before running towards Le Zhengtang, "Are you okay?"

She took out the medicine and bandage from her trouser pocket, tore open Le Zhengtang's torn sleeve, and bandaged the wound simply and quickly.

It wasn't until the girl beside him was trying to help him up that Le Zhengtang recovered from his shock. His eyes were terribly bright and he held down her arm. "Stop trying. My right leg is broken and I can't stand up."

Hearing his relaxed tone, as if he was saying that the weather was really nice today, Ningxia felt a surge of guilt in her heart. She moved in front of him and planned to carry him on her back.

Le Zhengtang was nearly 5 feet 4 inches tall, and his body was thick with muscle. Ningxia was no match for him. He stubbornly refused to cooperate. "Go quickly and find Brother Lei. The gunshots just scared off two of them, and we don't know if they'll come back. Besides, the smell of blood is too strong here, it's very dangerous. You go ahead, I'll wait for you to come back with someone to save me."

Ningxia refused, and just stared down at him. After staring at each other for a while, Le Zhengtang grinned helplessly, stretched out his uninjured hand, and motioned for the other party to squat down.

Ningxia then relaxed her frown, bent down and moved the other person onto her narrow back.

Ningxia dragged him along with great difficulty. Half of Le Zhengtang's long legs were dragged on the ground, and the wounds on his body were extremely painful. However, he leaned his head on Ningxia's neck and smiled happily.

Fortunately, we didn’t walk far before we heard noisy voices not far away. After a while, more than a dozen figures emerged from the dense forest.

"Sister Xia Xia!"

"Xia Xia!"

"Le Zheng!"

Several voices were heard, and it was Lei Lao Hu and his men coming to find them.

Several allied forces came forward and took Le Zhengtang from Ningxia's back. Ningxia then relieved herself and took a few deep breaths. Seeing Lin Yi, Sangsang and Maomao standing in front of her unharmed, her tense nerves finally relaxed.

Lei Lao Hu took a quick look at Le Zhengtang's injuries, then turned to Ning Xia, his eyes filled with worry. "Are you okay?"

Ningxia wiped the fine beads of sweat from her forehead. She didn't have the strength to speak and shook her head vigorously.

This was not the place to talk, so a group of about ten people left the forest in a mighty manner.

Only when they were out of danger did a middle-aged man stand up from among the people brought by Lei Lao Hu.

"Sergeant Lei, I'm so sorry. Isn't Lieyangyue over? The project above was pressing, so I brought the workers out to repair the road. There were too many people and the noise was quite loud. I didn't expect to attract wild boars from the mountains. They were so hungry that they would bite anything alive. When we were encircling and suppressing them, we accidentally let six or seven of them escape, and you got into trouble."

Lei Lao Hu waved his hand. This was something unforeseen. They could only say that they were unlucky. They had been carefully guarding against various dangers in the past two days, but they didn't expect to encounter such bad luck when they were about to arrive.

"Well, the road we're building is not far ahead. It's open all the way to the trading point. This soldier is seriously injured. I'll have someone drive a carriage to take you there."

Lei Laohu looked at Le Zhengtang's injuries and agreed that he could not delay any longer. Ningxia nodded again and again when she heard that Le Zhengtang could be taken to the trading point for medical treatment in time.

"Three wild boars died in the forest. They are theirs." Le Zhengtang suddenly spoke, pointing at Ningxia and the other two.

"I also have a wild boar cub weighing about 100 pounds." Lei Lao Hu also spoke at the right time.

"Of course, of course!" the man agreed repeatedly. "I'll have someone follow and take it back to the trading point. My apologies, everyone."

Only after getting on the carriage did Ningxia look at Le Zhengtang: "I can't keep the pigs you killed. If it weren't for you and Brother Lei going out to lure them away..." Ningxia didn't finish the rest of the words, but everyone knew what he meant.

"Why not?" Le Zhengtang was anxious.

Ningxia pursed her lips and looked at him.

Seeing that she didn't say anything, Le Zhengtang said anxiously: "You have to take it even if you kill that one, right?"

Ningxia still didn't speak, and the atmosphere was a little awkward for a moment.

Lei Lao Hu quickly tried to smooth things over: "Ningxia, I've heard what Le Zheng said. You already killed a pig and saved Le Zheng, and now you still have to take the child to the doctor, which means you're spending money everywhere. Although today is unlucky, it's also an opportunity. Just take your share and take the child to find a good doctor. If it's not enough, then Le Zheng and I can take our share as well, as a token of our uncle's appreciation. If it's enough, then just ignore what I said. What do you think?"

After hearing what Lei Lao Hu said, Ningxia nodded hesitantly and thanked him again. She really owed these coalition forces too much.

Lei Laohu waved his hand nonchalantly. The brothers in the barracks had plenty of meat, so how could they, stationed away year-round, be short of it? Besides, Ningxia had left her two children behind to come find them, so he was willing to let them fight for her twice.

These days, there aren't many people with conscience. In the years since the disaster, he's saved more people than he can count with his own hands, but how many are truly grateful? How many stand by them in times of need? He thinks the coalition's lives were lost, and it's only right.

"Brother Lei, what's going on with those coalition forces?"

Ningxia's voice interrupted Lei Lao Hu's thoughts.

"It's the brothers at the nearby sentry post. This place is close to the trading point and there are many sentry posts. They rushed over after hearing the gunfire from that group."

“Can citizens also own guns?”

"No, but most of them are public servants. These people working outside are too dangerous, so Chocobo gave special permission. The man who just spoke is a contractor, a government official. He led his men to open up the road from Xuanwu Province to Qingniao Province. He's a good person in all aspects, so he can handle quite a few guns, and the people around him who can handle guns are all public servants."

Ningxia nodded, hesitated for a moment, and didn't know how to start. Le Zhengtang saw what she was thinking and said quickly, "We won't report it!"

Ningxia raised her eyes and gave him a look of gratitude, then looked at Lei Lao Hu.

Lei Lao Hu smiled helplessly, "Don't worry, it's not a big deal if we don't report it. Although guns are strictly controlled, there are still many people who privately own guns, and there are even more people who make their own homemade guns. As long as no one is killed, the higher-ups don't have the energy to care."
