"Are they all right?"
It took the three of them a long time to clear the snow from Mu Yuanqing's palm-sized yard.
The livestock shed was bustling with activity. As soon as someone walked in, all sorts of noises came out. It was obvious that everyone was getting along quite happily.
Mu Yuanqing and the others handled it properly, and the temperature in the livestock shed was okay, but the smell was not very pleasant.
"It's nothing, I'm just hungry. The hay I fed you when I left is all gone."
Ningxia nodded. "Didn't you say we should feed them cooked feed? I'll go to your room and set up a pot to cook some for them. It will also warm up your room."
Mu Yuanqing nodded.
The whole family started working and cooked three big pots to feed the pile in the shed.
As soon as the steaming hot grass and a few corn kernels entered the two food nests, they started fighting over them and ate without even raising their heads.
Ningxia brought a special basin filled with large white radishes and cabbages, mixed with corn kernels, which were obviously more than the amount in the shed.
She led Maomao out alone, and only smiled when she saw him eating with such relish, "You're a great contributor to our family. Fortunately, you didn't get cold. Be good, and I'll come and take you home when the weather warms up."
As she spoke, she reached out and stroked the long hair around Maomao's ears. Maomao docilely let her do whatever she wanted.
"Talk to the donkey, come and tell me what you think?" Mu Yuanqing laughed while hugging Qingtian. Qingtian stared at Maomao eating seriously, with a few drops of suspicious liquid dripping from the corner of his mouth.
"She's a mule!"
"Tell me the difference."
Ningxia rolled her eyes at her, stood up, took away the bowl that Maomao had eaten clean, and drove it back into the shed. Then she said worriedly, "Is it okay for so many of us to live together?"
Mu Yuanqing raised his chin and said, "Look for yourself, what can happen?"
Everyone in the shed, big and small, had finished their meal, so even with so many people living there, it wasn't too crowded.
The three ugly chickens that had grown up a lot and were in an awkward period and the little goat were staying close to Mu Yuanqing's horse to get warmth.
After Maomao went in, he also went to the other side of the horse and stood close to it. The horse even lowered its head and nudged him in a flattering manner.
Ningxia finally felt relieved.
"Then I'll leave it to you! I have to hurry back. There's a jar of honey on the table in your room. Le Zheng gave it to Qingtian last time. It's for Qingtian to sweeten his mouth."
Mu Yuanqing was not polite at all, "It just so happens that she has already finished the drink you sent her last time."
Liu Ximu handed over the prepared medicine in his hand, "This should be enough after you finish it."
"Thank you, Master. I'll have someone from the camp send you the reward when they come to pick him up."
"You're quite sensible." Mu Yuanqing was amused. He had never thought about the reward at all. It was simply because the situation was urgent and the other party was Ningxia.
Ningxia ignored her and turned to Liu Ximu with a flattering smile: "That's right, it's not like you can find a doctor just standing on the street these days. My master is of such caliber, I have to accept him! I should accept him!"
Liu Ximu smiled and handed over another bundle, "This is the frostbite oil I made myself. You can apply it to those two if you have nothing to do. It's uncomfortable to get frostbite."
Ningxia really didn't expect this. This time, he went to the trading point in a hurry and forgot many of the things he wanted to exchange when he got there. It also happened to be a heavy snowstorm, and he almost couldn't come back.
She quickly took it and thanked him again. After a few simple words, Ningxia stood up and said goodbye. She had wasted quite a bit of time at Mu Yuanqing's house, and she still had to go set a few traps in the pine forest!
There is a lot of food stored at home, but no fresh meat. There is a patient who has an injury and can't eat mutton or fish. I will take some fresh meat home to nourish him. The better he is taken care of, the faster he will recover.
It was already getting dark when Ningxia arrived home. What a wonderful day it was. The wind and snow had completely stopped. Lin Yi and Sangsang heard a sound and hurried out to open the door.
"Sister Xia Xia, come in quickly. There are a few fire barrels in the room. Warm up quickly."
"Okay." Ningxia was also very cold. Not only did her feet feel crowded even after wearing several layers of socks, but they were still cold. Fortunately, her feet were just icy and not wet.
After applying the frostbite oil given by Liu Ximu and sitting by the fire barrel for a while, the temperature of my feet gradually returned to normal.
"Sister Xia Xia gives it to you."
"Socks? You knit them out of wool?"
Lin Yi nodded. "It will be much better if you wear this next to your skin and put on a layer of cotton socks before wearing shoes."
Ningxia nodded, took it and put it on her feet impatiently, putting her feet into the cotton slippers, which were soft and comfortable.
"Brother! Where's mine?"
"I'm working on it! I'll give it to you tomorrow!"
"Okay, thank you, brother."
The three of them stayed at home for a few days, and had no income except for a trip to Ningxia where they brought back some skinny chickens.
"Is your brother Jie awake?"
Lin Yi shook his head.
Xiaojie has been sleeping more than being awake these days, and he never had the chance to ask Ningxia what she has always wanted to ask.
Fortunately, after drinking a few doses of the medicine prescribed by Liu Ximu, he no longer had a fever easily, but his face was frighteningly pale. Liu Ximu said that this injury had damaged his vitality.
Ningxia, however, felt that it was because Xiaojie had something on his mind. People are much more fragile when they are sick, let alone Xiaojie, a teenager who is less than seventeen years old.
Ningxia not only heard him murmuring "Jia Jia" in his sleep, his voice full of sorrow and pain, but she walked closer and touched his tearful face.
What happened? Xiao Jie clearly remembered everything, but he didn't go looking for his father. Liu Jun's Goshawk Caravan was also quite famous. Although it didn't develop in the Blue Bird State, it would be easy for Xiao Jie to find it if he was determined.
Ningxia was thinking about Xiaojie while casually stirring the porridge in her hands. It was a white rice porridge made from light chicken soup and a lot of chopped cabbage.
Ningxia has been cooking fine grains for Xiaojie these days since he was injured. The child is injured and lies in bed every day. It is inconvenient for him to get out of bed. If some coarse grains are mixed in, it will be difficult for him to digest and it will be difficult to solve his personal problems.
"Sister Xia Xia, what are you thinking about?" Lin Yi walked into the house, glanced at the pot, and quickly turned down the fire in the stove.
Ningxia came back to her senses and took the pot aside to dry. Then she sighed and sat down next to Lin Yi. The flames in the stove were warm and bright, illuminating the faces of the siblings.
"Where's Sangsang?"
"She's writing in the room! Brother Jie is teaching her."
Ningxia hesitated for a moment, then spoke, "Do you...remember the caravan that brought us from Xuanwu Province to Qingniao Province?"
Lin Yi nodded without thinking twice, "I remember, Uncle Liu Jun is a very nice person. He gave us a big bag of steamed buns when we left."
Ningxia spoke carefully, "Do you remember when we were riding in that carriage and that old man told me about your Uncle Liu Jun looking for his son?"
"It's Brother Jie, right?"
Ningxia was shocked and quickly covered his mouth like a thief. He looked at the kitchen door before he felt relieved.
"Don't worry, Sister Xia Xia. If I hadn't helped Brother Jie, he wouldn't be able to get out of bed by himself." Lin Yi was extremely calm.
Although Ningxia knew that Lin Yi was a thoughtful person, she still couldn't help but be surprised. He was only thirteen years old!
"How do you know?"
"I also saw the birthmark on the back of Brother Jie's neck, and I also heard Brother Jie crying at night. I knew it every time you got up and touched his face."
"What do you think?" Ningxia tried to treat Lin Yi as a mature adult and asked for his opinion.
