Chapter 15 Crisis Raid

Ningxia didn't expect that she could finish eating a fish that weighed almost three pounds after removing the head and internal organs. She also didn't expect that Lin Yi could finish it and eat up all the wild garlic. Ningxia looked at her protruding belly, then looked at Lin Yi's flat abdomen, and was confused.

Sangsang also waved her hand, saying she couldn't eat anymore. Ningxia looked at her. She was always polite and well-mannered when eating. She ate a fish neatly starting from the tail and ate most of it, leaving the other half clean.

After comparing their appetites, Ningxia couldn't help but teasing Lin Yi, "Tell me the truth, have you not eaten enough in the past few days?"

Lin Yi knew what she meant and blushed, "Eat...eat until you're full..."

Ningxia didn't tease him and stood up to clean up the mess. She originally thought that the fish would not be finished, and the remaining fish would be used to make fish soup, which would have a better flavor than making fish soup with raw fish.

She had made a clear calculation, but she didn't expect that one or two of them were big eaters. In the end, the three of them cleaned up the half fish left by Sangsang, filled the thermos they brought with water, and slowly went back with their bellies bulging.

It was already four o'clock in the afternoon when Ningxia got home after dinner. It was the strongest time of the day, but it was still bearable. Ningxia went to the back of the house to check on the fish they were drying. The skin of the fish had tightened slightly under the sun. If it continued like this, Ningxia estimated that it would take another two or three days to harvest them.

"What if it rains?" Lin Yi asked as he looked at the fish on the branch.

"No, it won't rain." Lin Yi was young and didn't remember much, but Ningxia was very sure that as soon as the sun came out every year, it would not rain anymore. The weather would remain hot in the afternoon and cold in the morning and evening for two to three months, and then it would rain for several days in a row.

After that comes the Sun Month. Once the rain stops, the sun will come out. At this time, you have to find a place to escape the heat. In such weather, if you walk outside for less than a few hours, you will fall to the ground with heatstroke and then die of dehydration. Many people die in the base every year.

Ningxia looked back at the wooden house. Because it was close to the valley, the trees in this area were much sparser. If the wooden house was exposed to the direct sun at that time, people would get sick in it in a few days. They had to leave, and leave early.

There was no point in overthinking it. Ningxia went back to the house to boil a pot of water, found a rope, and went out to find a tree in a good location. She tied it to the tree, folded a cotton-padded jacket into a cushion, and put it on top. "Sangsang! Sangsang, come here! Lin Yi, come too!"

Lin Yi had no expression on his face, obviously realizing that the swing in front of him was an ugly one. Sangsang, on the other hand, looked curious.

"Sangsang, let your brother take you out to play. Be careful not to fall and don't run around." After giving the instructions, Ningxia went back to the house.

Ningxia couldn't bear to part with the few candles. They usually went to bed early, as soon as it got dark. It was too late for them to take a nap, and too early for them to take a night nap. Ningxia simply tied a swing for them so that they could play happily for a while. They had already played all day, so a little time was not a big deal.

The boiling water was poured into the kettle which had little tea left. Ningxia added some honeysuckle and set it aside. They would surely be thirsty when they came back soon. Then Ningxia boiled another pot of water on low heat. After the water boiled, she put the leftover fish meat of Sangsang into it. The fish meat, which had been cooked once, fell apart when it was put into the boiling hot water.

Ningxia controlled the fire to be smaller, waited for it to simmer slowly, threw in a spoonful of salt and left it alone.

She finally had time to pull out the two maps from the house and examine them carefully. She looked at the national map and effortlessly found Liefeng Island on the edge. Then, searching south, she suddenly saw two familiar words. Ningxia paused. That was... her home...

It had taken her nearly a year to reach Liefeng, but now she had chosen to spend a month or two returning to her starting point. She had grown up in Bluebird Island, and the climate there was familiar to her. Furthermore, she wanted to go back and see...

Sangsang's laughter came from outside the house, and the blurred faces in Ningxia's mind seemed to gradually become clear again.

It was getting dark, and the two hadn't come in yet. Ningxia had to go out and check. Sangsang was sitting on the simple swing, and her brother was pushing it from behind with a helpless look on his face. Sangsang was mumbling something to herself.

"Sangsang, you can come back now!"

"One last time!" Sangsang turned her head and shouted to Ningxia, then looked up at her brother, blinking her big eyes. Lin Yi was defeated, and after getting Ningxia's consent, he pushed his hand out.

Sangsang kept her word. When the swing swung lower and lower and finally stopped moving, she got off the swing as she said. She played for more than two hours and walked with a breeze.

"Lin Yi, wash her." Ningxia handed over a piece of cotton cloth, which was cut from clothes before. She couldn't bear to throw it away, so she kept it and it has become a face towel for them.

At this time, the soup in the pot had turned slightly yellow, with only half of the pot left. The fish meat had melted, and it looked very appetizing. However, someone had eaten too much grilled fish and hadn't digested it yet. In the end, only Sangsang drank two bowls and went to sleep. Lin Yi looked at him with a look of regret. If his stomach was full, he would definitely have had a bowl too.

Ningxia observed secretly, and only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Lin Yi really couldn't eat anymore. Fortunately, he was not a real big eater, otherwise she really couldn't afford it.

The advantage of going to bed early is that you can get up early. As soon as the sun rises, the brother and sister get up on their own without waiting for Ningxia to call them.

Ningxia was afraid that the two children would get tired of eating fish every day, so she simply cooked a mixed grain soup and even sprinkled a handful of sugar on it luxuriously.

There are not many grains left, only about 50 kilograms. Although they are not very smooth, the amount of flour is small and it is troublesome to make. Ningxia didn't touch them much. These grains are their only source of carbohydrates at present.

The two children got up and drank the leftover fish soup from last night in one gulp.
