"elder brother."
Nangong Jiale murmured a call, and seeing her brother's angry eyes, she fearfully wrapped her arms tightly around Beiming Haotian's neck. Her brother was really angry.
What are you doing here?
Nangong Jiayi asked coldly, looking at Sima Jiaoru, Beiming Yechen, and Hua Rujin, vaguely knowing their identities. His uncle had already told them everything that had happened over the years.
"Yi'er, where is your mother?"
“My mother is tired and has fallen asleep. You should all go back! I don’t want to wake her up after she just fell asleep.”
Nangong Jiayi's tone was unpleasant, and his gaze as he looked at everyone was icy.
Bei Ming Ye Chen shook his head. This Yi'er was probably even more stubborn than Hao Tian was when he was a child, but he still liked him no matter how stubborn he was. His grandson was simply a genius.
"I've gone to bed." Bei Ming Haotian frowned, glancing at the sky; it was almost time for dinner.
"Brother, let Father, Grandpa, Grandma, and Aunt Jin see Mother! They all miss Mother very much."
Nangong Jiale was afraid that her brother would be angry. Perhaps she could resolve the misunderstanding between her mother and father as soon as possible. As long as her mother forgave her father, everything would be fine.
"No, Mother's heart pain has flared up again. I just pressed her pressure point to put her to sleep. You can come over after Mother wakes up!"
Nangong Jiayi showed no respect, not even to his father and grandparents standing in front of him. He cared about his mother, not them. His mother often had trouble sleeping, and these were all things his father had brought upon her.
Although his mother often told him that there are no unfair things in the world, only unfair feelings, and that if he didn't complain or hate, he could take everything in stride, he couldn't. He couldn't do it. He couldn't be without any resentment towards his father. Every time he saw his mother in pain, he felt hatred.
Upon hearing this, Nangong Jiale's tears flowed again.
"Brother, is Mother sick again? I'm sorry, brother, it's all Lele's fault. Lele didn't consider Mother's feelings, it's all Lele's fault."
Nangong Jiale struggled to get down from Beiming Haotian's arms and ran to Nangong Jiayi's side. Holding Nangong Jiayi's hand, tears streamed down her face like broken pearls. Everyone fell silent at the sight.
Especially Bei Ming Haotian, the heart-wrenching pain, is Yan'er's heartache caused by the love curse?
Looking at his two children, who were both filial and pitiful, Bei Ming Haotian felt even more guilty. If he had just used a little more force back then, Yan'er wouldn't have been separated from him for five years.
"Yi'er, I'm sorry, it's all Father's fault."
Bei Ming Haotian walked to their side, squatted down, and said, "He's only four years old and he's already so sensible and filial. It's really admirable."
Upon hearing the apology, Nangong Jiayi's small body trembled, and he raised his eyebrows.
"You don't need to feel sorry for us. The only person you've let down is your mother."
"They are so sensible! Yan'er has taught them very well."
Sima Jiaoru wiped away her tears and smiled as she looked at the two siblings.
"Um!"
Bei Ming Ye Chen walked over and said to Nan Gong Jia Yi, "Yi'er, you need to learn to let go of some things. The tighter you hold on, the more awkward you'll feel. Grandpa admires your ability to stick to your principles. Since your father was wrong, he should bear the consequences of that mistake. But Yi'er, everyone has times when they are not in control of their own destiny, because they are also pitiful. So sometimes we also need to learn to forgive those who have hurt us. Grandpa and Grandma will go back first today. When Yi'er has forgiven your father, Yi'er can come back to Grandpa and Grandma's side. Is that alright?"
Bei Ming Ye Chen's face revealed the genuine affection between grandfather and granddaughter. He truly loved his grandson and granddaughter very much, as both siblings were outstanding among their peers.
Upon hearing Bei Ming Ye Chen's words, Nan Gong Jia Yi's eyes flickered, but he did not flinch and bravely looked at Bei Ming Ye Chen.
“Grandpa, Mother didn’t mean forbid us from acknowledging our father. It’s just that I’m very angry. It wasn’t easy for Mother to raise my brother and me alone. It was my fault for not greeting Grandpa and Grandma today. But please give me some more time. I need time to accept all of this.”
Nangong Jiayi was polite and respectful. He had nothing to say about his grandparents, but he was angry about his father's role over the past few years.
"Okay! Yi'er needs time to adjust. No matter how long it takes, Grandpa and Grandma will wait for Yi'er."
Bei Ming Ye Chen nodded; he was so sensible that it broke his heart.
That night, Bei Ming Haotian quietly entered Nangong Ziyan's room. She didn't want to see him, so he had no other choice.
After taking a nap, Nangong Ziyan felt much more refreshed. She thought that she must have slept so soundly because Yi'er had pressed her sleeping acupoints again and was guarding her outside the door.
As she sat in front of the bronze mirror doing her hair, she saw Bei Ming Haotian's figure and was suddenly shocked, her emotions instantly overflowing.
"Ugh!" Her heart ached so much that she dropped the comb and clutched her chest.
"Yan'er..."
Bei Ming Haotian looked at her with heartache. He knew that every step he took closer to her would cause her more pain, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't resist the urge to see her. The more pain she was in, the more it proved that she loved him. Although he felt sorry for her, he was still overjoyed. Five years had passed, and her love for him had not changed.
"Don't come any closer," Nangong Ziyan said coldly. The excruciating pain blurred her vision. "If the heart doesn't move, it won't hurt," she warned herself. But she found that she couldn't help but fall for him. After seeing him, her longing for him grew stronger and stronger. What should she do?
She didn't turn her head; the pain was almost unbearable.
