Chapter 53: Rush

Chapter 53: Rush

Zhang Yang never expected that Zhang Mao would rush back from school immediately, and the first thing he said was to accuse him.

Zhang Yang looked at him, pursed his lips slightly, and changed the subject: "Brother, have you eaten? Did you come back directly after calling?"

"Let me ask you, are my parents against me going abroad?" Zhang Mao asked impatiently. "The school requires me to register by tomorrow, and all the necessary documents must be prepared and submitted. I don't have time to waste."

"My parents didn't tell me." Zhang Yang said honestly, "They didn't say they were against it, nor did they say they agreed. Maybe Mom was worried about you going to such a far place alone. Dad..."

Before Zhang Yang could finish his words, Zhang Mao interrupted him: "Dad, is this because of money? Right?"

Zhang Yang did not answer.

Zhang Mao was wearing a short-sleeved shirt with the top button neatly buttoned, and a pair of black trousers. The bottom of the shirt was tucked into the trousers, revealing a brand new belt.

This is Zhang Mao's dressing style. Unless he is at home during the summer vacation, Zhang Mao will dress neatly whenever he goes out, including buttoning the top button of his shirt.

Zhang Yang felt a bit breathless as he watched. He subconsciously touched his neck and it seemed that the button wasn't stuck on Zhang Mao, but on himself.

Zhang Mao glanced at his watch and said anxiously, "It's still early to get off work. Otherwise, I'll go to the cotton mill to find them."

Zhang Mao was about to leave when Zhang Yang quickly reached out to stop him: "Brother, you might as well call them instead of just running over to call them."

"Yes, yes, call." Zhang Mao said, turned back to the living room, picked up the phone and dialed.

I called twice. The first was to Zhang Liangpeng, but the person who answered said Director Zhang was out for a meeting. Then I called the workshop to find Pei Juanjuan, but no one answered.

Zhang Yang was sitting nearby and saw Zhang Mao wiping his sweat, holding a phone in his hand, and spinning in circles.

By the time Zhang Mao hung up, Zhang Yang had already poured a glass of water. "Brother, don't worry. No one often answers the phone in Mom's workshop. She must be busy. Drink some water first, take a breath, then go into the room and change into comfortable clothes. We don't know when Dad will be back from the meeting, but Mom will be home as soon as she gets off work."

Zhang Yang looked up at the wall clock and said, "Only one hour left. Wait a little longer, don't worry."

Zhang Mao took the water and drank it first, but he didn't change his clothes and walked out directly.

"I'd better go to the factory to find them." Zhang Mao said as he hurried out.

Zhang Yang sat in the living room for a while, looking up at the clock from time to time.

For the first time, he felt that time passed so slowly. After more than ten minutes, Zhang Yang could no longer sit still and walked out immediately.

He sat in the courtyard and waited for a while, then he saw Wang Qinghua coming back on his bike.

Seeing Zhang Yang, Wang Qinghua waved to him, and Zhang Yang hurried over.

"Your brother is back, did you know?" Wang Qinghua looked at Zhang Yang with envy, "He's going abroad!"

Zhang Yang didn't know how Wang Qinghua knew about this, so he just smiled awkwardly and said, "I met my brother."

"Oh, so you went home first, then to the factory." Wang Qinghua nodded. "I met your brother at the factory. I asked him why he came back at this time, and he told me he was going abroad as an exchange student and came back to pack some things."

Zhang Yang was still smiling, but when he heard Wang Qinghua say that, he asked, "Did my brother say that?"

"Yes, everyone at our cotton mill should know about this by now." Wang Qinghua wrinkled his nose with a smile. "Look at your children, they're all promising. They're even going abroad. Tsk tsk."

As Wang Qinghua was speaking, he saw Zhang Liangpeng walking home from a distance and immediately pointed, "Isn't that your dad?"

Zhang Liangpeng, carrying his briefcase, walked heavily into the compound. Seeing Wang Qinghua talking to Zhang Yang, he approached. Zhang Qinghua immediately said to Zhang Liangpeng, "Director Zhang, congratulations. Your son Zhang Mao is so promising. Who in our entire cotton mill has ever been abroad? And Zhang Mao is about to go. You guys are really good at raising children."

Zhang Liangpeng looked at Zhang Yang in surprise. Zhang Yang immediately shook his head, indicating that he did not say that. Then he said to Zhang Liangpeng, "Dad, my brother is back. He is at the cotton mill now. He went to look for you."

"Your brother is back?" Zhang Liangpeng was even more surprised. "He even went to the factory?"

"Yes, he couldn't find you and my mom on the phone, so he went straight to the factory." Zhang Yang said.

As the three of them were talking, more and more people came back from get off work. Seeing Zhang Liangpeng there, they came over to congratulate him.

What he said was, he is so promising! The eldest son of the Zhang family is going abroad.

Everyone was praising him, and Wang Qinghua responded from the side. He asked casually and found out that it was Zhang Mao who went to the factory. Everyone recognized him and asked him why he went home at this time. Zhang Mao told everyone that he was going abroad.

Zhang Liangpeng walked home with his head down, and Zhang Yang quickly followed him.

Along the way, everyone was talking about Zhang Mao's plan to go abroad. Some were envious, some were jealous, some politely said it was great, and some gossiped behind his back: "Director Zhang's family is so rich? His child is going abroad!"

Things were beyond Zhang Liangpeng's control. Not long after, Zhang Mao and Pei Juanjuan returned together.

Pei Juanjuan also disagreed at first. She was more worried about how Zhang Mao would live if he went abroad alone.

As for the rest, Pei Juanjuan was overwhelmed by the joy of seeing Zhang Mao before she had time to think about it. In addition, when she returned home, everyone praised her, gave her a thumbs up, and said that Zhang Mao had made great progress, etc. Pei Juanjuan completely put her worries behind her.

He pushed his bicycle back home, happily asked Zhang Mao what he wanted to eat, and then quickly made it for him.

When they arrived at the living room, they found that Zhang Liangpeng had already returned home. Pei Juanjuan quickly called Zhang Mao in, "Zhang Mao, come quickly, your father is back."

When Zhang Liangpeng saw Zhang Mao coming back for the first time, he did not stand up to greet him. He lowered his head and said nothing.

Pei Juanjuan walked over to Zhang Liangpeng, pushed his shoulder, and whispered, "Your son is finally back, what are you doing?"

Zhang Liangpeng then raised his head and forced a smile, "Zhang Mao is back?"

Zhang Mao rubbed his hands and walked over to Zhang Liangpeng. He sat on the single sofa and looked at Zhang Liangpeng sideways: "Dad, my mother has agreed to let me go abroad. I really want to go out and see the world. Do you agree too, okay?"

Zhang Liangpeng hesitated for a few seconds and did not answer.

Zhang Mao was obviously a little impatient. The first button of his shirt was tightly wrapped around his neck, just stuck on his Adam's apple.

Zhang Mao swallowed hard, his hands resting on his knees, seemingly sitting obediently. However, his upper body was leaning forward, trying to control himself, his eyes fixed on Zhang Liangpeng, eager to hear the answer he wanted from him.

His palms were completely wet with sweat, and he rubbed them hard on his knees.

The rhythm of Zhang Mao's hands caressing completely disrupted Zhang Liangpeng's breathing.

Zhang Liangpeng raised his eyes to look at Zhang Mao, then at Pei Juanjuan, and finally his gaze still fell on Zhang Mao: "Do you really have to go abroad?"
