Chapter 57 Robbed

Chapter 57 Robbed

Wang Yuxiu likes to show off.

No matter what others said, no matter how wonderful Zhang Maoduo was, he simply loved Zhang Yang. For some reason, Wang Yuxiu felt at ease whenever he saw Zhang Yang. He was like a weed by the roadside, a perpetually real presence with an incredibly tenacious vitality. Whether you saw him or not, he was there.

"Good boy." Wang Yuxiu nodded in appreciation and asked, "Is your father busy lately?"

"Very busy," Zhang Yang said, a little embarrassed. He scratched the back of his head. He'd seen everything going on at home every day and knew it all. But he didn't want to lie to Wang Yuxiu, but he was afraid of worrying her if he told her too much. So he explained, "I'm always busy at the end of the year. It's okay, Grandpa Wang."

Wang Yuxiu had noticed the change in Zhang Yang's expression, but he felt he was just a child and didn't want to talk to him any more, so he said, "Let's have dinner at my house tonight."

Zhang Yang shook his head. "Maybe next time, Grandpa Wang. Auntie's coming back today, so I won't cause any more trouble."

Wang Fang and Li Zhiye came back together to look at houses and celebrate the New Year. Zhang Yang knew that Xin Tianyi hadn't seen his mother for a long time, and it would be better for them to have such an occasion alone, so he politely declined Wang Yuxiu's invitation.

Wang Yuxiu looked at Zhang Yang and liked him even more. He said, "Okay, I'll call you next time."

"good."

"By the way, Zhang Yang," Wang Yuxiu said before leaving, "When you meet your dad, tell him to come visit us when you have time."

Zhang Yang understood that Wang Yuxiu wanted to talk to his father about something, so he immediately agreed.

Xin Tianyi and Wang Yuxiu went home together and asked, "Is my mother here?"

"No," Wang Yuxiu said, "he should have arrived this afternoon, but I don't know why he hasn't come back yet. I don't know where he went."

When they returned home, Xie Mei was already waiting at the door. Seeing Xin Tianyi coming back, she happily hugged him, looked him left and right, and finally came to the conclusion: he had lost weight!

Xin Tianyi smiled and said, "Grandma, it's been less than a week since I last came here, just four days. Have you lost weight in these four days?"

"You've lost weight!" Xie Mei felt that Xin Tianyi had lost weight again no matter how she looked at her. "Did you not eat well?"

"I eat a lot, grandma. None of the boys in my class eat as much as I do."

"Why is the face so small?"

Xin Tianyi thought for a moment, then immediately lifted her bangs and tucked her hair behind her ears, revealing her entire face to Xie Mei. "My hair has grown long, and it's time to cut it, so I look a little thinner and listless. Grandma, don't you think this makes me feel better?"

A face was completely exposed without any cover. When it appeared in front of Xie Mei, Xie Mei smiled: "That's good, that's good!"

After saying that, he looked out the door again and couldn't help muttering, "Wang Fang, it's already so late and she hasn't come home yet. Didn't she say she would be there in the afternoon? Why is there no sign of her now?"

"Let's wait a little longer," Wang Yuxiu said. "The train might be delayed, and you might have other things you've already done after you get off the train."

"What else?" Xie Mei sighed, "Could anything be more important than going home?"

Wang Yuxiu didn't want Xie Mei to continue talking, after all, they were in front of Tianyi. So she quickly changed the subject and said to Tianyi, "Tianyi, you watch TV with grandma for a while. I'll go cook some vegetables. Your uncle and aunt should be back soon."

Xin Tianyi changed the TV channel and asked Xie Mei what she wanted to watch, but Xie Mei sat on the sofa and kept talking about Wang Fang. She first complained about why she hadn't come back yet, and then recalled the suffering Wang Fang had endured in the past, how her husband had died at such a young age. After talking for a long time, she suddenly couldn't remember the name of Wang Fang's current husband, so she immediately asked Xin Tianyi: "What was his name?"

"Li Zhiye." Xin Tianyi replied.

"Yes, that's the name. I just can't remember it. Actually, it's because we didn't see each other much. He hardly came home after we got married, and when he did, it was your mom who came alone, saying she was very busy and couldn't come. I only saw him once or twice in total, and he was gone before I could even remember his name."

Xie Mei kept muttering to herself as Xin Tianyi mechanically changed the TV channels. He changed them all but couldn't find anything Xie Mei wanted to watch. When he turned around again, he saw Xie Mei sleeping on the sofa.

Xin Tianyi looked at Xie Mei who had fallen asleep and was panicked.

"Falling asleep?" Wang Yuxiu walked out of the kitchen and asked in a low voice.

Xin Tianyi nodded.

Wang Yuxiu pointed to the blanket on the sofa. Xin Tianyi understood, walked over quietly, and covered Xie Mei with the blanket.

He then went to turn off the TV, but Wang Yuxiu stopped him as well. Xin Tianyi had no choice but to follow Wang Yuxiu into the kitchen, where he heard Wang Yuxiu say, "If you turn off the TV, your grandma will wake up. Let her sleep. She was so excited to hear your mom coming home today that she didn't sleep all afternoon. She must be sleepy now. Let's get some sleep first. When your mom comes back, everything will be busy again."

Xin Tianyi nodded: "Grandpa, let me help you then."

After Xin Tianyi finished speaking, he realized that there was nothing he could do.

The kitchen table was filled with plates, each containing a dish Wang Yuxiu had prepared in advance. Each dish was meticulously designed, pairing red with green, yellow with orange, creating a vibrant and nutritious palette.

After Xin Tianyi looked around, he asked, "Grandpa, it seems there's nothing else I can prepare for you. Do you want me to peel garlic?"

"She peeled it a long time ago." Wang Yuxiu took out a small bowl and showed it to Xin Tianyi: "Your grandma peeled it this afternoon. She peeled all the garlic in our house."

As the two were talking, Wang Gang and Liu Meilan came back from get off work.

After meeting Xin Tianyi, Wang Gang, as his uncle, showed some concern for Xin Tianyi's studies and life, asked a few questions, and then went back to his room to rest. Liu Meilan went straight to the kitchen to help, but there was nothing she could do, so Wang Yuxiu kicked her out again. Rubbing her hands together, she smiled and said to Xin Tianyi, "Look how much your grandfather loves your mother. He said that he will cook for dinner today and no one else is allowed to touch it."

While waiting for all the dishes to be served, Wang Fang and Li Zhiye finally arrived.

The two men came in from outside, looking exhausted and carrying several large bags.

Wang Fang had arrived wearing a new woolen coat, which now hung awkwardly on her body. Her hair was a mess, with no trace of a perm. Her makeup was gone, and the corners of her eyes were dark, revealing she had applied makeup and smudged it, but hadn't had time to wash it off.

As for Li Zhiye, his hair was messy and his beard was stubbled. If the two of them were not carrying such a large amount of luggage, they would definitely be considered as people fleeing from famine.

Shocked, Liu Meilan immediately asked, "Sister, brother-in-law, what happened to you? Were you robbed or something?"
