Chapter 7 What are the advantages
Yuan Dabao is a man that no one can deal with.
Because no matter what you say, he won't listen. He has his own little plans and is stubborn.
Stick to your own ideas, regardless of whether they are right or wrong.
This personality was cultivated from childhood. Unlike Zhang Yang's two brothers and Wei Ran, who have two older sisters, Yuan Dabao is the only child in the family. He grew up in the yard of a cotton mill. While Zhang Yang's mother would chase him around the yard with a broom, his mother would chase after him, feeding him and giving him water.
They are about the same age, but definitely not raised in the same way.
There was no one in the world who could make Yuan Dabao obey. Zhang Yang could barely be considered one, but that was also the result of years of "violent suppression". The fat boy Yuan Dabao was still very dissatisfied in his heart, especially in his words, which became more and more unforgiving.
This time, she was finally defeated. Her face turned red with anger, and she asked Zhang Yang in grievance, "Tell me, did she do it on purpose?"
Zhang Yang thought it was funny at first, but after a while he got annoyed and quickly pulled Wei Ran out to take the blame, "You two can chat, I have to go home quickly, I'm starving."
Zhang Yang finished speaking and ran off like a monkey. Yuan Dabao couldn't catch up due to his physical condition. Wei Ran had never been fond of sports since childhood and didn't want to chase him. The two of them could only walk slowly, watching Zhang Yang's back disappear in front of his red front door.
Zhang Yang walked in quietly, thinking that his mother was alone at home. However, as soon as he entered the yard, he heard the voice of his father Zhang Liangpeng.
Zhang Yang thought to himself, this is not good. How come Director Zhang has time to go home at noon today?
He tiptoed to the door and listened eavesdroppingly.
"You don't need to carry so many things. You can be back in two days," said Zhang Liangpeng.
"You have to take your underwear," Pei Juanjuan said immediately, "and take your toothbrush and towel too."
"Here," Zhang Liangpeng said, "take my medicine too. Oh, and you knitted a sweater for Zhang Mao, would you like to take it with you? As soon as I'm free after the meeting, I'll go see him."
"Okay!" Pei Juanjuan was immediately happy when she heard the name of her eldest son Zhang Mao. "Then I'll put the sweater on for you? Let him try it on. If it doesn't fit, bring it back and I'll make some alterations. This kid hasn't been home for half a year, and I don't know if he's gained weight or lost weight."
Zhang Liangpeng laughed and said, "Don't you call me often? He's doing well in college, so why would he come back?"
Pei Juanjuan fell silent. She packed her luggage in silence, put Zhang Mao's sweater in the bag, zipped it up, and placed it on a chair in the living room. Then she complained, "Hey, you don't know. Normally, it's okay. But whenever Zhang Yang causes trouble for me, I think of Zhang Mao. How can the two sons be so different?"
Zhang Liangpeng was also troubled by the disparity between his two sons. Faced with this question, he really didn't know what to say. After a long while, he finally said, "Zhang Yang also has his own advantages."
"Where? What are his strengths?" Pei Juanjuan immediately asked back.
Zhang Yang stood at the door with his head lowered. His expression remained unchanged when he heard this. He just moved his feet and walked towards the door.
The two people in the room naturally didn't know that Zhang Yang had returned and left again. Pei Juanjuan looked at Zhang Liangpeng depressedly: "The high school entrance exam is in half a year. What do you think Zhang Yang should do? I asked Lu Rui, and she said that her son Wei Ran is going to take the normal school entrance exam. Come to think of it, Wei Ran has the best grades, so he must go to normal school. Qinghua said he wanted Dabao to try to take the technical secondary school entrance exam. His father is recruiting people on the railway. The two children who grew up with Zhang Yang all have plans, but we don't. Have you ever thought about what Zhang Yang will do in the future?"
Zhang Liangpeng thought for a while and said, "If it really doesn't work out, then go to a technical school and then come back to work in our factory."
"Can he get into a technical school?" Pei Juanjuan frowned. "You think too highly of your son!"
Zhang Liangpeng sighed, "Let's take the exam first. Maybe if I work hard in the second half of the year, I'll pass."
Pei Juanjuan stopped talking and turned to look at the wall clock. It was time to go home from school.
She walked to the door of the living room and looked out. The door was half open.
Pei Juanjuan muttered to herself, "Isn't the door closed? Why hasn't Zhang Yang come back yet?"
She remembered something and told Zhang Liangpeng, "Don't forget what I told you. It's time to go to the provincial capital and buy him a new schoolbag."
"I know," Zhang Liangpeng said, "buy some good wine. My master likes this kind of wine. We live in the same courtyard, but I've been so busy that I haven't visited him for a long time."
Pei Juanjuan didn't stop him. After all, Zhang Liangpeng had learned all his skills from his master, Wang Yuxiu, to become the factory director. It was Master Wang who fully supported Zhang Liangpeng during the summer elections, which allowed him to take over the cotton mill smoothly.
It is only right to take two bottles of good wine to see the master.
Zhang Liangpeng had already stood up. "Okay, I'm leaving now."
"Let's eat first before we leave. Wait for Zhang Yang, and talk to him when you see him." Pei Juanjuan said immediately.
"No, I'm not eating. The driver's still waiting. Zhang Yang hasn't come back yet. He might be avoiding me. I'll talk to him when I get back. I'm leaving now."
"Don't forget to buy a schoolbag!" Pei Juanjuan instructed, "and go see Zhang Mao."
"Okay, got it."
Zhang Liangpeng came out of his house and crossed the alley, and saw Zhang Yang standing in the courtyard of the living area.
He was alone, standing there like a telephone pole, with his head lowered and his expression unclear.
Zhang Liangpeng called out to him, "Zhang Yang, what are you doing there? Why don't you go home quickly?"
As soon as Zhang Yang raised his head, the corners of his mouth stretched to the back of his head.
"Dad, why did you come back at noon?" Zhang Yang ran over and asked.
Zhang Liangpeng shook the bag in his hand and said, "I'm going to the provincial capital for a meeting. I'll be gone for two days."
Zhang Liangpeng looked at Zhang Yang and wanted to say something, but he felt that it was not the right time, so he waved his hand and said, "Hurry back, your mother has prepared dinner. After dinner, take a rest before going to school."
"Okay." Zhang Yang nodded and smiled.
Zhang Liangpeng's original dissatisfaction with Zhang Yang had now mostly disappeared, thinking that this child was healthy after all, and was always so sunny.
That’s good, that’s great.
After comforting himself, Zhang Liangpeng asked Zhang Yang to go home quickly.
Wang Yuxiu bought some spare ribs in the morning, stewed them early, and waited until the children got home from school until the ribs were almost boneless.
It was originally intended to be served in a large bowl for everyone to eat together, but just as Wang Yuxiu picked up the bowl, he thought of God's will and suddenly put it back.
He took out soup bowls from the cupboard and served one to each of them.
The stewed pork ribs also contain carrots, potatoes and corn. Each person gets a bowl of it, which is served hot on the table.
Liu Meilan and Wang Gang did not go home for lunch. The factory provided meals, so they ate in the cafeteria.
Wang Fang didn't come back either and still ate in the cafeteria.
There were only Wang Yuxiu, Xie Mei, and Wang Mingjie at home.
Wang Mingjie is a sophomore in high school at the No. 1 Middle School in the city. The middle school is far from the cotton mill, so he rides a bicycle to and from school.
Many students at No. 1 Middle School don't go home for lunch, eating in the school cafeteria or at small restaurants. Xie Mei, however, worried that Wang Mingjie wouldn't eat well at school, insisted that he go home for lunch. Wang Mingjie also has a habit of taking a nap, so he'd sleep for a while before going to school every day.
When Xin Tianyi returned home, Wang Mingjie had not returned yet.
Grandpa Wang Yuxiu asked her to wash her hands first and then eat.
Xin Tianyi washed his hands and said quickly, "Let's wait for brother to eat together."
Xie Mei liked Xin Tianyi's suggestion and said with a smile, "Good boy, then wait for Mingjie to eat together."
Wang Yuxiu took advantage of this opportunity to ask Xin Tianyi about the school. Xin Tianyi talked to Wang Yuxiu about it, and soon Wang Mingjie came back.
Wang Mingjie was a sophomore in high school, under immense academic pressure. He was a quiet man with a bad temper. As soon as he entered the house, he slammed the door.
He sat down at the table and started eating without washing his hands.
Wang Yuxiu smiled at Xin Tianyi and said, "Tianyi, let's eat too."
Everyone sat around the table.
Xie Mei sat next to Wang Mingjie, asking him about his well-being from time to time, asking him if he was tired from school, whether he had an exam today, and whether he had finished all the questions.
Xie Mei asked a lot of questions, but Wang Mingjie didn't answer any of them. He just lowered his head and ate rice frantically.
Xin Tianyi watched all this silently, without saying a word. She looked down at her own bowl. In her and Wang Mingjie's bowls, the pork ribs were sticking out. But in grandma and grandpa's bowls, there were only potatoes and carrots.
Xin Tianyi picked up a piece of pork ribs and put it in Wang Yuxiu's bowl, and then picked up another piece and put it in Xie Mei's bowl.
"I don't like pork very much," Xin Tianyi said. "Grandma and Grandpa, please eat some for me. Otherwise, it will be wasted if it's left over."
"Just like your mother. Picky about food!" Xie Mei frowned and said, "Your mother is like this. When she was little, she couldn't even get enough to eat, and she was picky about food. She wouldn't eat this or that..."
Xie Mei said, and transferred the ribs to Wang Mingjie's bowl, "Mingjie, eat more. There's plenty of time in the afternoon."
Wang Mingjie was already used to it, so he didn't say anything and finished the big piece of pork ribs in no time.
After lunch, Wang Mingjie went to take a nap. Xin Tianyi wanted to wash the dishes, but was stopped by her grandma.
"You should take a nap too. You must develop the habit of taking a nap."
Xin Tianyi didn’t have the habit of taking a nap. After walking into the room, he thought for a while and then picked up the textbook.
Let’s copy the text. Although the teacher didn’t punish her to copy, Xin Tianyi felt that she should copy it five times.
Only by studying hard can you make progress every day.
When Xin Tianyi finished copying and was packing her schoolbag, she heard shouting outside.
"Wei Ran, Wei Ran, go to school!"
Wei Ran's house is closest to Xin Tianyi's house, just in the alley in front of Xin Tianyi's house.
Yuan Dabao and Zhang Yang were shouting in front, and Xin Tianyi could also hear them.
She paused as she was packing her schoolbag. The familiar voice of "Go to school" was heard, although it wasn't directed at her.
But Xin Tianyi was still very happy. She quickly put away her schoolbag, put it on her back and ran out.
When she went out, she bumped into Wang Mingjie, who looked at her angrily: "Are you blind?"
