Chapter 96: Unfinished
Qu Yi walked towards Qu Heng's yard with a distracted look in his eyes.
The empty yard was filled with a gloomy atmosphere.
Ever since Qu Heng broke his leg, his temper has become strange.
He often beats and scolds his servants.
If he was unhappy with something, he would tie up the maids and servants, sit in a wheelchair, and have people push him over to be whipped.
Sometimes when he got angry, he would just throw the boiling hot soup on the little maid's face.
Several maids had their faces burned so badly that they looked humiliating.
When Song was alive, let alone beating people, he would even kill a few servants as long as he was happy.
Anyway, there are many children born in the Marquis' Mansion, and their lives are worthless. It is their blessing to be able to make the eldest young master happy.
The boy, who was in his early teens, had a lot of blood on his hands.
After Qu Ling took charge of the Marquis' Mansion, he did not indulge him.
He was ordered to deliver meals to the eldest master, change his dressings, and clean him every day. Apart from that, he was not required to serve him closely.
Qu Heng was so angry that he smashed the medicine bowl.
The servant ran to Qu Ling in fear.
"It's okay if he doesn't want to drink. He's not afraid of death, so let him go."
Qu Heng didn't believe it at first, but later he found that if he smashed the medicine, he would have nothing to drink that day, and if he smashed the food, he would have to go hungry that day.
In just two days, he learned his lesson.
Qu Ling could no longer allow servants to surround him, so they all stayed away and were not allowed to disturb the eldest master while he was recuperating.
The servants of the Marquis' Mansion were grateful for Qu Ling's kindness, but at the same time they hated Qu Heng to the core.
Except for Qu Yi and Qu Lianzhi who would enter his house, the servants all came and left in a hurry.
Qu Yi stood outside the door for a long time without pushing it open.
He stretched out his hand, then put it down again, over and over again, but was unable to move forward.
"Second Young Master, do you want to come in?"
A voice came from behind.
He turned around and saw a handsome young man standing at the bottom of the steps holding medicine.
"Why haven't I seen you before?" Qu Yi asked.
When did such a servant with red lips and white teeth, who looks like a man and a woman, appear in my eldest brother's yard?
"I'm new to the mansion. The eldest master loves me so much that I listen to my advice, so I stay in the courtyard. The princess doesn't allow servants to go near the eldest master, so it's normal that you don't remember me."
Qu Yi just asked casually and didn't take it to heart.
His elder brother's former personal servant was sold out by the Song family.
I changed several people, but none of them satisfied my eldest brother's taste.
"Give me the medicine." Qu Yi stretched out his hand.
Two kinds of medicine, one for drinking and one for applying on the skin.
The servant handed it over with both hands and stood by.
"You go ahead, I'll talk to my brother and take him out for a walk later," said Qu Yi.
He added, "No need to have anyone follow you."
"I'll take my leave."
The yard returned to peace.
Qu Yi didn't hesitate any longer and reached out to push the door open.
Qu Heng was sitting on a chair by the window with his legs raised high.
"Brother, it's time to take your medicine." Qu Yi walked forward, but without even looking at Qu Heng, he put the medicine on the table.
"Why didn't you go to the Song family today?" Qu Heng withdrew his gaze from the window and spoke with sarcasm.
Does he think that he can replace the Song family by going to the Song family every day?
"Where's Ruyi?" Qu Heng looked behind him with a look of disappointment on his face.
Qu Yi always felt strange when he heard this name.
A servant, what's his name Ruyi?
It sounds like the name of a maid or concubine.
"I'll let him go first," Qu Yi handed the medicine over, "Brother, take the medicine first."
He was holding the bowl in his hand, but Qu Heng was reluctant to take it.
“Brother…”
Qu Yi had just called out when Qu Heng suddenly snatched the bowl from his hand and poured all the medicine on his face.
"My leg hasn't healed yet. Is it you who did it?" Qu Heng's eyes were vicious.
He couldn't understand why his leg, which was originally treated by an imperial physician, took so long to heal and even got worse?
It was Ruyi who reminded him.
"I've heard that the Second Young Master takes good care of you, meticulously and personally. However, even though he and you are close relatives, I'm afraid he also has his own selfish motives."
It’s not that Qu Heng doesn’t understand.
He always felt that Qu Yi didn't dare.
Since he was a child, his mother never allowed Qu Yi to snatch anything from him, and even if he wanted something, his mother would give it to him first.
When they were studying, Qu Yi's academic performance was better than his, and he was praised by his teacher and father, but he was beaten by his mother.
The ruler hit Qu Yi's palm hard.
Mother's voice was icy. "Your eldest brother is the eldest son and will inherit the title in the future. Why are you trying to steal his limelight?"
Qu Yi knelt on the ground, crying hard, "Mom, I was just following the master's instructions..."
He tried to argue, but was met with even harsher punishment: "Go to the side hall and kneel down. You cannot get up without my permission."
When his sister came to persuade him, he heard his mother say, "Ah Heng is the eldest son, and the Marquisate will be handed over to him in the future. A Yi is too outstanding, which will make your father hesitate. If the brothers fight, it will be a disaster."
Over the years, Qu Yi was no longer better than him, and he also felt that Qu Yi was afraid to compete.
"Master, since the Madam is dead, the Second Master is not as obedient as before."
Ruyi seemed to be able to guess what he was thinking, and one sentence was an epiphany.
"Why aren't you talking?" Qu Heng's voice was cold, and his eyes were like knives scraping at Qu Yi.
Qu Yi's expression froze for a moment, and then he showed a hurt expression, "Brother, how could you think of me like this?"
Qu Heng stared at him intently, practically gritting his teeth as he spoke word by word, "It was you who frightened the horse, wasn't it!"
Qu Yi felt very wronged, as it was really not him who frightened the horse.
His face was filled with grievance and shock, and it felt much more genuine. "It was Qu Ling. How many people in the family died after she returned home? Concubine Miao, Master Xu, and even my mother were thrown into prison by her. Only she would harm you."
Seeing that he didn't refute immediately, Qu Yi changed the subject and said, "Brother, staying in the house all day is not good for your health. Why don't I push you out for a walk?"
Qu Heng suddenly gave a strange smile, "Okay."
The smile was so cold that Qu Yi felt a chill on his back, but the words had already been spoken, so he could only bite the bullet and push the wheelchair over.
He helped Qu Heng sit up and pushed him out slowly.
The back garden of the Marquis' Mansion was quiet and deep. Along the way, Qu Yi kept talking about their childhood.
There are times when the two brothers are happy, and there are times when the two brothers are unhappy.
Qu Heng remained silent until the wheelchair stopped at the edge of Yue Lake.
Qu Yi looked at the water and said, "Brother, I really want you to die..."
Before he finished speaking, a cold light flashed.
The dagger stabbed into Qu Yi's abdomen.
Qu Yi widened his eyes, lowered his head in disbelief, and watched the blood gushing out.
Qu Heng's eyes were as cold as a venomous snake, and his expression was crazy and distorted. "I knew it a long time ago."
His hand and the dagger were stained with blood.
"Aunt Miao told me that you and Qu Ling both want me dead."
He just still had a glimmer of hope. He thought Aunt Miao was sent by Qu Ling to sow discord.
It was not until Qu Yi said this in person that he completely believed it.
Qu Yi staggered back and fell to the ground, his blood staining the ground red.
"I can't kill Qu Ling, but can't I kill you?" Qu Heng's eyes were red, and he didn't know whether he was sad or excited.
Qu Yi opened his mouth to speak, but spat out a mouthful of blood foam.
But he didn't finish his words.
He wanted to say that he regretted it.
He shouldn't have been instigated by Qu Ling and ended up turning against his brother.
He planned to leave the capital and travel around the country, and leave this devastated mansion to his elder brother.
But he never had the chance to say it in this life.
Qu Xin, who happened to arrive, watched with tears in his eyes as his son fell in a pool of blood. The murderer was his other son.
