Chapter 26 Dolls (1/2)

Bai Ma is a very charming woman, no one can deny this. She is kind and sincere, she has the greatest love in the world, and she generously shares it with those around her.

As her son, even though Zhang Qiling had almost never lived with her, he still naturally possessed Bai Ma's deepest love and longing, so much so that after Bai Ma's death, she was able to follow Zhang Qiling in soul form and keep watching over him because of her obsession with wanting Zhang Qiling to live a safe and happy life.

Jiang Shaomu stood up and took Zhang Qiling into the room where he usually drew talismans. Hei Xiazi and Wang Pangzi went out, saying they were going to digest their food, giving them a space to talk alone.

Letting Zhang Qiling sit on the chair next to him, Jiang Shaomu opened the cabinet and took out the talisman that he had drawn long ago.

This kind of habitat talisman is a bit like creating a mirage projection between the latitude where the soul is located and reality, allowing humans to see their relatives in another dimension through reflections.

Jiang Shaomu threw the yellow talisman at Bai Ma regularly several times, and then activated the talisman paper. The next second, a beautiful woman appeared in Zhang Qiling's sight. He stood up and stared at her blankly.

The woman looked at Zhang Qiling with gentle eyes. Zhang Qiling couldn't tell what kind of feeling that was. He vaguely guessed the woman's identity. Except for his mother, probably no one would look at him like this.

Sure enough, the woman spoke excitedly: "Xiaoguan, you can finally see me. I am your mother!"

Bai Ma didn't like the code name Zhang Qiling, which had no meaning. This was not the name her child should have. Her child was Xiaoguan, and even if he was named according to the Zhang family's genealogy, he should be named Zhang Haiguan.

Zhang Qiling doesn't like to talk most of the time, but at this moment he really didn't know what to say.

Bai Ma's tone was excited and full of strong emotions, which made Zhang Qiling feel as if he was wrapped up in something for a moment. He felt uncomfortable all over but was unwilling to break free, for fear of hurting the woman who was weaving the web.

Jiang Shaomu gave Bai Ma some time to calm down before rescuing the bewildered Zhang Qiling. He motioned Zhang Qiling to stop standing there and sit down to listen to him, then said:

"Little brother, as you wish, now you can see her, she is indeed your mother."

Zhang Qiling was always sharp, and the look in his eyes was still sharp when he looked over. He asked, "Do you know my past?" Although he said it was a question, his words were actually full of affirmation.

Jiang Shaomu denied his certain statement, because none of it made sense and he couldn't explain it.

Only a small amount can be revealed, like the existence of the Zhang family, and no one more person knows about it than him.

"I don't know all about your past. I only know the existence of the Zhang family and the story of the Zhang family's Holy Infant."

Jiang Shaomu didn't explain why he knew that. The existence of the spirit and his identity as a Taoist priest made him know some things that were no longer so important.

Zhang Qiling did not ask any further questions. Bai Ma's emotions had calmed down and he was still staying quietly beside Zhang Qiling.

Zhang Qiling turned his head to look at Bai Ma, and asked Jiang Shaomu: "Will she always be like this?"

Jiang Shaomu asked him honestly:

"Of course not. In fact, she is already very weak. Obsession can indeed keep the soul from dispersing. But this world has its own operating rules. Energy is conserved. Every second of existence consumes energy. She will eventually disappear."

According to Jiang Shaomu's current understanding of the two mothers' souls, before the plot officially begins in 2003, first Hei Xia Zi's mother and then Zhang Qiling's mother will disappear completely.

Zhang Qiling could actually see that Bai Ma's soul was somewhere between real and unreal. Even though he didn't really understand the composition of the soul, he could see that the other party's situation was not good.

Baima didn't seem to care whether she would disappear or not. Ever since Zhang Qiling saw her, she had always been in a happy mood with a smile on her face, giving people a feeling of home for no reason. This was his home.

Zhang Qiling didn't want to get rid of her, so he asked Jiang Shaomu: "Do you have a way to prevent her from getting rid of him?"
