Chapter 1 Graduation

"Wuhu! Take off!"

"I've finally graduated from university."

Are you happy about graduating? Graduation means we've officially become 'corporate slaves' or 'working people'.

"No more summer and winter vacations, no more carefree days, no more close friends..."

"well!"

“... ..."

In mid-June, a certain 211 university.

As many students tossed their graduation caps high into the air, it symbolized the end of their academic life and the beginning of their careers.

The students, who were originally happy, now had a melancholy look on their faces.

Many of them already have internship experience as seniors.

Although it was a simple internship, it provided these recent college graduates with a vivid lesson.

What does it mean to bully the weak? What does it mean for the big fish to eat the small fish? What does it mean to be powerless and even crying is a sin?

In college, we were arrogant and thought making money was easy, but we only realized how true this was when we entered the workforce:

Money is hard to earn, and life is tough.

"Sigh!" Rong Shunji sighed as he recalled his internship experience, patting his friend on the shoulder, "Fangzi, I'm really envious of you now."

He paused for a moment, then continued, "Some people are born in Rome, some are born as cattle or horses. You must have some tricks up your sleeve for being born into the right family. Tell me about them."

Upon hearing this, everyone present looked at Chu Fang.

Like everyone else, Chu Fang wore an ordinary academic gown, but the loose robe seemed to become much lighter on him. His broad and strong shoulders filled out the gown, making him look particularly handsome.

He was 1.8 meters tall, well-proportioned and upright, with healthy wheat-colored skin and a faint smile on his face.

The girls present all fantasized: "Wow, he's so handsome! I wish Chu Fang was my boyfriend."

While indulging in fantasies, a fact constantly reminded me deep in my mind: "He's still so rich."

Of course, those girls did not agree that they were materialistic.

Whether someone is rich or poor doesn't matter; what matters is that I like Chu Fang's style.

Rich, handsome, and... wealthy.

Chu Fang noticed the gaze directed at him, but he was already used to it. He simply shrugged and teased Rong Shunji, "What's wrong? I have a way to reincarnate, do you have the desire to 'start over'?"

"How about we discuss this? You can 're-enter' my wife's womb, and I guarantee you'll become a rich second-generation heir with no worries about food or clothing."

Shao Liang, standing next to him, craned his neck and asked, "A lucky break?"

"Go to hell!" Rong Shunji was furious and kicked Shao Liang lightly, then wrapped his arms tightly around Chu Fang's neck. "You're taking advantage of me."

"Stop making baseless accusations." Wen Xiangbing pulled the two apart and said with a smile, "Fangzi is destined to be a bachelor for life, where would he get a wife? Lao Ji, don't take his fantasies seriously."

Upon hearing this, Shao Liang, Wen Xiangbing, and Rong Shunji exchanged glances and burst into laughter.

Chu Fang stared at his three friends.

Considering it's graduation day, he decided not to get entangled with the others.

After the whole class took their graduation photos, everyone took selfies in various places around the school, hoping to capture four years of wonderful memories on their phones.

Compared to the girls, the boys seemed less interested in taking photos. They sat casually in the shade, chatting about their studies, life, relationships, internships, and more...

Chu Fang watched Wen Xiangbing casually light a cigarette and asked with some surprise, "When did you learn to smoke?"

He remembered that none of his three roommates were smokers.

Unexpectedly, after only half a year apart, the group had undergone tremendous changes.

Rong Shunji is no longer so frivolous and has become mature and steady; Shao Liang's introverted personality has changed, and he has become much more cheerful; while Wen Xiangbing has even learned to smoke.

He remembered that Wen Xiangbing used to particularly dislike smoking and people who smoke.

"There's no other way." Wen Xiangbing noticed that none of his classmates smoked. He took a puff and immediately put out his cigarette. "Work pressure is too great. Nicotine in tobacco is particularly effective in releasing emotions."

"Is the internship stressful?" Chu Fang asked.

"What do you think?" Wen Xiangbing didn't answer, but asked with a smile, then suddenly realized, "Oh, I forgot, you didn't go for your internship, so never mind."

At this point, Wen Xiangbing paused for a moment and slowly said, "Life is not easy, it's a pity. Not everyone is like you, with a house and a car in Shanghai, a wealthy family, and countless numbers in your bank account. You were really lucky to be born into this world."

Chu Fang unscrewed the bottle of mineral water, took a sip, and replied, "Is it my fault for being reborn?"

Wen Xiangbing rolled his eyes, a faint smile on his face, but his back teeth were practically biting off.

I've never seen such a shameless person.

Chu Fang hurriedly clasped his hands in a fist and bowed, smiling and apologizing.

"Fangzi, what are your plans after you graduate from university?" Rong Shunji sat down next to him. "You're not going to continue staying at home like you did during your internship, are you? You've been a 'stay-at-home guy' for half a year already, are you planning to keep doing that?"

Shao Liang said, "For Brother Fang, going to work for a pittance, scheming against colleagues, getting up early to go to work, and having to endure the boss's disdain is meaningless. He might as well stay at home."

Rong Shunji thought for a moment and nodded.

That makes sense!

Having lived together for four years, the group knew their handsome roommate all too well.

The word 'wealthy' is not appropriate to describe the Chu region; 'extremely wealthy' and 'beyond the bottom' are more appropriate.

He used to spend lavishly in nightclubs, was once the top spender on live streams, and squandered tens of millions on various online games...

The various methods and means of extravagance dazzled them, making them question the meaning of life.

Being roommates with Chu Fang, they've seen a lot anyway.

Seeing the three of them nod in unison, Chu Fang frowned: "Hey, buddy, am I just 'Squatting Bro' in your eyes?"

The three men stared at him silently, offering no reply, but their silence was deafening.

"... ... " Chu Fang straightened up slightly. "Don't make fun of me. I've already found a job and will start in a few days.

"work?"

"Have you had too much to drink?"

"humor!"

Meeting the incredulous gaze, Chu Fang smiled and replied, "I am a person with ideals and integrity, someone who transcends base desires. I don't care about salary when I go to work; I only hope to realize my life's ideals, to fight for the people, for the motherland, and for the rise of China..."

As he spoke, he clenched his fist, looking quite spirited.

“You’re just tired of squatting.” Rong Shunji said lightly.

“... ..."

Chu Fang fell silent for a moment, then stared at Rong Shunji and said, "When you get to the workplace, here's a piece of advice for you: talk less and do more."

Everyone present laughed.

After everyone in the class finished taking photos, the whole class went to a hotel.

During the four years of university, relationships are hard to come by. At the dinner table, many people could no longer suppress their emotions and started crying in their classmates' arms.

First, there's the reluctance to part with classmates.

Secondly, having spent the first twenty-odd years in school, suddenly being transferred to a completely unfamiliar environment caused anxiety and unease.

As they parted, everyone let loose, drinking, singing, and making noise... until dawn.

Suppressing their reluctance under the influence of alcohol, many people left the school without sleeping.

Who knows when we'll meet again after this parting?

...
