At the security booth of the Tanhua residential community, Chu Fang and the security guard were squatting at the entrance, eating ice cream.
“Sir, I’ve thought about it, and we don’t have any conflict,” Chu Fang said softly. “Why should we fight?”
"You're teasing me, isn't that a contradiction?" The security guard glanced at him sideways.
"You tricked me too," Chu Fang replied, then waved his hand. "Let's call it even from today onwards, how about it?"
The security guard nodded: "Okay."
They then high-fived as a pledge.
The two looked at each other and said, "Good brothers."
"Young Master Chu, where are you from?" The security guard asked softly, finding Chu Fang much more agreeable.
"From Chengdu."
"We're from the same hometown."
"You're from Chengdu too?"
"We're practically from the same hometown; I grew up in Chongqing."
Upon hearing this, the two instantly became much closer, especially after the security guard learned that Chu Fang was not from Rongcheng, at which point he became even more friendly.
"The flood washed away the Dragon King Temple." The security guard slapped his knee. "If I had known you were from Chengdu, we wouldn't have ended up like this. If you ever travel to Chongqing, I'll recommend the best and most delicious hot pot to you."
"Hot pot?" Chu Fang frowned. "No need, Chengdu hot pot is delicious too."
"Bullshit! Your Chengdu hot pot is just bland and tasteless, it can't compare to my Chongqing hot pot."
"Who are you insulting, you old man?" Chu Fang roared in anger.
"Hey, you think you're so tough, huh?" The security guard glared at him angrily.
The brotherhood between the two men was like the Yellow River bursting its banks, collapsing in an instant.
Then the two of them started arguing again in the security booth.
Chu Fang's tenants, Zhou Zhou and Chen Wan'er, watched from the side, exchanged glances, and smiled knowingly.
They had never seen Chu Fang and the security guard have a peaceful conversation.
The two exchanged insults for half an hour, their voices never stopping, their throats seemingly on fire. They finally agreed to fight again another day.
"Is it nice?" Chu Fang turned around and looked at the two tenants with a serious expression.
The two nodded in unison: "It looks good."
Chu Fang threatened: "......I'll raise your rent."
Upon hearing this, the two feigned a wronged expression, which was quite pitiful.
"By the way, Mr. Landlord, there's something I'd like to discuss with you," Zhou Zhou said, slapping his forehead.
"I have no money, and I won't give you my life either," Chu Fang said casually.
“We have a sister who is now down on her luck and has nowhere to live. She wants to stay with us for a while.” Zhou Zhou finished speaking and made a pleading gesture. “Please, handsome and dashing, charming and generous landlord.”
"Is it pretty?"
"pretty!"
“Send her to my house, I need to check if she’s a bad person, that’s very important to me.”
Zhou Zhou and Chen Wan'er smiled: "Landlord, you agreed? Great!"
When the elevator reached the 26th floor, Chu Fang opened the door and entered the room, while Zhou Zhou shouted loudly, "Landlord, I like you!"
"Could you lend me five hundred?"
"You're so rich."
"Would it be too late for you to lend me five hundred?"
“No delay.” Zhou Zhou nodded. “Landlord, I give you my utmost affection, but money is an exception.”
Chu Fang pursed his lips, then slammed the door shut.
After entering the house, he sighed and said, "Girls these days are too materialistic."
As he entered the room, he saw a gentle figure wearing a simple yet elegant apron. The fabric of the apron gently clung to her figure, tied with a bow, adding a touch of femininity and playfulness.
Zhong Tingyue's long hair was casually tied up, with a few stray strands falling unintentionally across her forehead, and a faint smile graced her delicate face.
"Has Mr. Chu managed to win back that young girl's heart once again?"
"My tricks are just to fool you."
Zhong Tingyue rolled her eyes and then said, "Wash your hands and eat quickly."
Chu Fang washed his hands and then went to the dining table, where a variety of dishes were laid out, all of which were Chu Fang's favorite foods.
They sat facing each other and then began to eat dinner.
Chu Fang casually said, "Why did you come back so early today, Ms. Zhong? And you even prepared a big meal. You've changed. You're not the Zhong Tingyue I remember."
“I guessed why you refused to have children.” Zhong Tingyue put a sausage on Chu Fang’s plate.
The sausages were made by Chu Ma, authentic Chengdu sausages, and they are incredibly delicious whether pan-fried or stir-fried.
"I didn't even know, yet you went ahead with it." Chu Fang's expression remained unchanged. "Then tell me."
Zhong Tingyue chewed her food slowly and said softly, "You're scared. You feel like you're not ready to raise a child."
Chu Fang raised an eyebrow: "So, are you ready?"
"I don't know." Zhong Tingyue bit her chopsticks with her teeth. "I seem to be ready, but it also feels too casual."
The two looked at each other, then tactfully changed the subject, no longer talking about the child.
......
The following morning, Chu Fang arrived at the Shanghai Mausoleum and stood in front of Chang Shen's tomb, gazing at that familiar face.
He remained silent.
After gazing at it for a long time, he sighed deeply: "Alas!"
You've really put me in a lot of trouble!
Chu Fang didn't have many concerns about having children before.
On the one hand, they lack a deep understanding of their children and are unaware of the hardships they endure. On the other hand, they are wealthy and can provide their children with excellent material conditions.
However, Chang Shen's departure made him cautious about having children, to the point of almost being afraid of it.
Chang Shensheng was born into a wealthy family and lacked nothing, but he lacked parental love, which ultimately led to this outcome.
From that moment on, Chu Fang posed a soul-searching question: "Can I really raise a child well?"
Raising children requires not only financial support, but also the provision of emotional support and addressing their needs.
Children are like blank sheets of paper, and Chu Fang is the one who writes them. Whether the child's future is a beautiful painting or a rough draft depends entirely on Chu Fang's decision.
He didn't know if he could be a good father.
"My head hurts." Chu Fang rubbed his temples. "Am I overthinking things? Hmm... I guess so!"
“I brought these children into this world; I am their benefactor. They should be grateful to me, so how could they blame me? I raised them to adulthood, and then I can ask them for money every month, and then I can retire and live a leisurely life…”
Chu Fang's mind was in turmoil, with all sorts of inhuman thoughts popping up.
"You stay here by yourself, I'm leaving." Chu Fang shook his head, trying to shake off those inexplicable thoughts, and then left the cemetery.
Chu Fang felt a headache, so instead of going to the studio, he returned to the Tanhua residential area.
He ignored the security guard's angry glare and strolled slowly into the residential area.
He had a headache today and didn't want to mess around with the old man.
A few days later, when the headache proved incurable, he would come back to vent his anger on the old man.
"handsome guy."
I passed by a girl with a single ponytail dragging a suitcase; her voice was soft.
Upon hearing the word "handsome guy," Chu Fang knew someone was calling him and asked, "What's up?"
"Where is Unit 1, Building 2 of the Tanhua Residential Complex?" the girl with a single ponytail asked.
Chu Fang pointed to his index finger, and the girl with the single ponytail looked in that direction. The building behind her clearly showed "Building 2, Unit 1".
The girl with the single ponytail blushed, seemingly embarrassed by her scatterbrained manner, and quickly bowed, saying, "Thank you."
The girl with the single ponytail then dragged her suitcase toward the elevator, while Chu Fang followed behind her with his hands in his pockets.
"Huh? He lives in this unit too?"
"Huh? He also lives on the 26th floor?"
Upon entering the elevator, the girl with the single ponytail was surprised. Suddenly, a scene from a movie flashed through her mind: a stalker following a girl, waiting for an opportunity to commit evil deeds.
