Chapter 909 The Gossip of Chu

The sun rises, the sun shines in the east.

Chu Fang thoroughly cleaned the house, inside and out. For some reason, he really enjoyed cleaning, washing clothes, and washing bedding on sunny days.

The house and yard were spotless, and many quilts were drying in the yard.

When he was little, Chu's mother did the same thing, and he would hide himself in the quilts that were drying in the sun, always feeling a strange sense of security.

"Time flies." Chu Fang shook his head.

After cleaning up, he rode his electric scooter slowly towards the town.

I went to the town's market to buy ingredients for lunch today.

He walked along the street, buying ingredients, all of which were seasonal vegetables.

"Hey, Chu Fang."

Hearing someone call his name, he turned around and saw a familiar woman.

Fu Xiangyu was his first blind date, arranged by Chu's mother.

At the time, Chu Fang went there with the intention of just going through the motions, and Fu Xiangyu did the same. Under the pretext of taking an exam, the two parted ways and did not contact each other.

"What are you doing here?" Chu Fang asked.

“My mom and your mom are card-playing buddies, so naturally I’m from this town too,” Fu Xiangyu said, rolling her eyes.

Chu Fang smiled and said, "Sorry, I meant I rarely see you."

When Chu Fang got married, Fu Xiangyu's parents came, but they didn't see her.

"Sigh!" Fu Xiangyu sighed. "There's nothing I can do. Once you enter society, you become like a beast of burden, rarely going home."

"So how are you staying at home now?"

"I'm going to fire my boss and kill all the capitalists in the world."

Chu Fang: "... ...the matter of murder being illegal."

“Oh, I forgot, you’re a capitalist too.” Fu Xiangyu slapped her forehead. “How could I have been so stupid? I should have drugged you when we went on our blind date, and then we slept together. Maybe I would be Mrs. Chu now, with endless money.”

"Alas, I was young and naive, and I wasn't brave enough."

Chu Fang smiled gently.

They chatted for a few minutes before parting ways.

Watching Chu Fang's disappearing figure, Fu Xiangyu stroked her chin and pondered for a few seconds: "That method might actually work."

"Daughter, what are you thinking about?" Fu Xiangyu's biological mother came over. "What were you and Chu Fang talking about just now? You seemed to be having a good time. Let me tell you, Chu Fang has a family and children. Don't get any funny ideas."

"Although our family is ordinary, we should not try to curry favor with the rich just because of money."

"However, if Chu Fang is willing to get a divorce, you can talk to him. After all, he is not old, has a lot of money, and is quite handsome. Your mother likes him."

Fu Xiangyu: "..."

You wish!

... ...

After buying vegetables and meat, and some fruit, Chu Fang rode his electric scooter home.

As soon as he got home, he heard arguing coming from next door. He quickly dropped what he was holding, rushed to the wall, stood on tiptoe, and looked at the neighbors.

Lately, my neighbors have been arguing a lot—mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, husband and wife, mother and son. It's one argument after another, even more dramatic than the TV series "Empresses in the Palace".

Perhaps it's because he's getting older, but Chu Fang enjoys reading about these gossip and trivial matters.

That was really awesome!

The couple next door were locked in a fierce argument, hurling insults at each other over the word "Mom," for more than half an hour before the man finally pulled out a "closing the fight" sign from his pocket.

The moment the sign announcing the end of the war was displayed, the couple, who had just been exchanging greetings about each other's parents, instantly became harmonious and happy.

"Honey, I love you."

"Honey, me too."

The couple embraced tightly.

Seeing this, Chu Fang lost all interest: "This is boring. Who invented this thing called a 'closed war' token?"

Chu's father walked by and glanced at him sideways: "You just want those couples to fight, don't you?"

Chu's father was puzzled. He was a kind and innocent man, so why was his son so cunning and ruthless?

Chu Fang chuckled, then picked up the ingredients and went into the kitchen to start making lunch.

Lunch was a simple four-dish meal with soup: tomato and egg soup, Mapo tofu, shredded pork with garlic sauce, braised pork ribs, and cured pork.

Cured pork is made using a simple method: steaming it until cooked, then slicing it into paper-thin pieces. The lean meat is chewy, while the fat is shiny.

Chu Fang doesn't like fatty meat, but he can eat the fatty part on this kind of cured meat.

Firm and chewy, rich yet not greasy, it can be called the best of meats.

He finished making lunch, and it was already noon, but he still couldn't find Chu's mother: "Hey, where's my mom?"

"I don't know, she went to visit the graves and hasn't come back all morning," Chu's father shook his head.

Chu Fang called his mother, but the call didn't go through.

He and Chu's father had no choice but to drive up the mountain. When they arrived at the location, they saw Chu's mother kneeling in front of the tomb, repeatedly tossing coins.

Chu Fang walked over and asked, "Mom, what are you doing?"

Chu's mother turned her head and replied, "I'm letting your grandparents decide whether I should go to Shanghai."

"Did that lead to anything?"

“No.” Chu’s mother shook her head. “My parents have opposing opinions; they have never reached a consensus.”

Chu Fang found it strange; "This coin only has one side, how can there be different opinions?"

Chu's mother explained, "Since I'm asking for Dad and Mom's opinions, I naturally have to toss the coin twice to get the correct answer. And each time I toss the coin, the two answers are different; sometimes Dad objects, and sometimes Mom objects."

At this point, Chu's mother said somewhat discouragedly, "My parents are really something; they should have been on the same page."

Chu Fang: "..."

So you're here to prove that the probability of a coin landing as 'heads' or 'tails' is indeed close to 50%?

Chu's mother tossed the toss twice more, once for a 'number' and once for a 'flower'.

"Ugh, this is so annoying." Chu's mother sat down on the ground.

Chu Fang thought for a moment and said, "Actually, I have a solution."
