Chapter 47 Retreat
The lobby on the first floor of Hexiyuan is elegant and fresh, with Meng Tang and Li Hanjin half hidden and half present behind a partition.
Li Hanjin poured a small bowl of soup to Meng Tang and pushed it over: "These are all your favorite dishes, want to try it?"
Meng Tang lowered her eyes. The table was indeed full of her favorite dishes, but she had already eaten them once.
Thinking of this, Meng Tang's thoughts drifted away——
When Wei Chuan asked the waiter to serve the dishes, he asked if there was any meat marinated with kiwi fruit.
The waitress said that one of the dishes had marinated beef tenderloin. Wei Chuan glanced at her and removed the dish.
Li Hanjin knew that she was allergic to kiwi, but he didn't know that the beef had been marinated with kiwi. Seeing that she didn't move, he asked her why she didn't eat it.
Since he was here, Meng Tang would not refuse him. He picked up his chopsticks, picked up a piece of pork ribs and put it into the bowl.
Li Hanjin also picked up his chopsticks, but after taking only two bites, he asked again:
"What is your relationship with that boy named Wei Chuan?"
He was wearing a baseball cap and didn't take it off even when eating. When he spoke, the corner of his lip pulled at the wound, which was a little painful, but it didn't stop him from caring about Meng Tang.
"Friend." Meng Tang didn't even raise his head.
Classmates and friends are different. Li Hanjin was silent for a moment and pretended to joke: "You didn't even have many female friends before. It's really different after entering university."
"What does this have to do with me going to college?" Meng Tang didn't quite understand. "Do friends still have to be divided into male and female? If we can get along well during our interactions, we can all be considered friends, right?"
Li Hanjin chuckled: "I once heard that there is no pure friendship between men and women."
Meng Tang put down his chopsticks: "Do you think there is something between Wei Chuan and me?"
"Don't blame me for thinking too much," Li Hanjin said, "You're quite protective of him."
Meng Tang asked back, "Shouldn't I protect him? He hit you because of me. If it was anyone else, I would ask you not to pursue the matter."
Li Hanjin: "I asked your school's leaders last night, he's an athletic trainee, playing basketball."
Meng Tang paused for a moment and asked, "What else did you say?"
Li Hanjin shrugged: "Don't worry, I didn't tell anyone that he hit me."
Meng Tang moved his lips, lowered his eyes and continued eating.
Li Hanjin asked again: "How did you get to know him?"
“…”
Meng Tang said succinctly: "I met him when I was looking for him as a model."
Li Hanjin said "Oh" and looked at Meng Tang calmly, with restrained tenderness in the depths of his pupils.
After that, he didn't ask any more questions and promised Meng Tang not to embarrass Wei Chuan anymore.
After leaving the restaurant, Li Hanjin offered to take her back to school.
"If someone sees you sending me back, I'll become the focus of discussion." Meng Tang refused.
"Okay." Li Hanjin smiled, "Then go back and be careful."
Meng Tang raised his hand and waved slightly.
Only then did Li Hanjin turn around and leave Hexiyuan.
After standing there for a long time, Meng Tang pouted and let out a breath, finally the problem was solved.
If Li Hanjin insisted on pursuing the matter, Wei Chuan would definitely not gain any benefit.
Whether he was right or wrong, the fact is that he hit someone.
Meng Tang walked down the stairs and suddenly stopped. She caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye and turned around abruptly.
Under the wall to the right of the Hexiyuan gate, Wei Chuan stood there expressionlessly, like a human-shaped stand.
Meng Tang was stunned for a moment, then walked over and asked, "Why are you here?"
Wei Chuan stepped down and said, "I asked the hospital leader for Li Hanjin's hotel address and planned to come over to apologize."
Meng Tang said, "No need to go. He has already promised not to pursue the matter."
Wei Chuan frowned: "Didn't I say that I will handle this matter myself."
Meng Tang noticed the tension and displeasure in his tone and didn't understand what he was blaming him for.
However, she was not good at arguing with others, so she just stuck to the facts and said, "You don't understand him. He is..."
"Yes, I don't understand him. He is your senior brother." Wei Chuan felt a fire lingering in his chest.
Meng Tang: “…”
Wei Chuan took out his phone and showed it to Meng Tang: "You still lied to me, you think I'm impulsive, knowing that you are not happy to solve the problem for me, so you beat him up again?"
"I didn't think so." Meng Tang also frowned. "The matter has been resolved. Why are you holding on to something inexplicable?"
"If you really want to apologize, go to the hotel where Li Hanjin is staying now and see if he will see you."
"he--"
"Also," Meng Tang put his knowledge into practice and interrupted him, "Are you following me? When you sent me a message, you saw me, right?"
"I saw you, but I didn't follow you."
He had just entered the restaurant and then stepped back out, thinking it was inappropriate to eavesdrop on other people's conversations.
He waited by the restaurant's outer wall for an hour.
"Then why are you here? You look like you've caught me lying and want to confront me?"
"I didn't question you. I just felt that I should take responsibility for my own mistakes."
Meng Tang sighed: "Seriously, if you go, he won't see you."
"So he did it on purpose, didn't he just want you to get through?" Wei Chuan raised his voice. "What did you talk about in there? Reminiscing about your childhood?"
Meng Tang was silent for a moment, then turned and left.
She had been heckled enough tonight.
Wei Chuan followed subconsciously, and Meng Tang suddenly turned around.
With a dull "bang", the two men collided head-on.
Wei Chuan is big, if he is a tree, Meng Tang is a leaf. Wei Chuan is as still as a mountain, and she leans back.
"Hey!" Wei Chuan hugged the man back, "Are you okay?"
The waist under his palm was a little bigger than his palm, and Wei Chuan was stunned.
Meng Tang pushed him away, looking up at him with difficulty: "I'm not looking for Li Hanjin because of you, but because your beating him has something to do with me. I don't want you to be punished by the school, nor do I want you to be suspended from training or banned from the game. It's that simple."
After saying that, she left without looking back.
Wei Chuan followed her, keeping a distance behind her that was neither too far nor too close.
Did they have a fight? Wei Chuan asked himself, frowning.
It doesn’t count as a quarrel, right?
He glanced at Meng Tang in front of him, took a big step, and tentatively called out, "Meng Tang?"
Meng Tang ignored him.
“…”
Okay, let’s have a fight.
It turns out that she can get angry too. He thought her temper was like soft dough.
Where did Meng Tang, the coward who didn't dare to speak loudly to him at the beginning, go?
But this also indirectly proves that they are indeed friends.
He had long discovered that Meng Tang would be more lively in front of acquaintances.
Seeing the man enter the gate, Wei Chuan hurriedly chased after him.
He rolled his eyes and said, "The two pots of succulents that Xu Heqing raised died. Didn't you say you wanted to buy something based on his preferences? Should I go with you to buy some?"
Meng Tang shook his head: "No."
"Xu Heqing, you don't want it either?" Wei Chuan almost doubted his ears.
Meng Tang ignored him, but Wei Chuan kept nagging in her ear.
Meng Tang stopped, turned around and said, "I retreated."
Wei Chuan was stunned: "What do you mean?"
"What happened that day when Lingyin got drunk left a small shadow in my heart."
"I don't blame him. What he said is true. It's just that this incident has an impact on me."
After a moment of distraction, Wei Chuan changed the question: "You mean... you don't plan to confess?"
