Chapter 163: Hard Trouble
"Don't be so loud, I can hear you."
Shen Jiao rolled her eyes.
Waiter: "Yes, sir, please wait a moment."
He lowered his voice, responded in a gentle tone, and turned to walk towards the kitchen.
Shen Jiao's voice came up like a ghost: "What are you mumbling? I can't hear a word."
Waiter: ...
He pretended not to hear anything, ran quickly into the kitchen, picked up two pots of water, came out, and quickly poured them for them. Then he said in a gentle voice, "If there is nothing else, take your time to watch, young lady. When you are ready, you can call us. We will be waiting at any time."
After saying this, he stepped back and wanted to leave.
The waiter clearly didn't want to compete with them.
But Shen Jiao was here to cause trouble, so it would be strange if he was let go: "Hey, where are you going? Aren't you waiting? Don't go, I'll finish reading it soon."
"Okay, what would you like to order?"
The waiter came up to her again.
Shen Jiao curled her lips: "Why are you rushing me? I'm watching right now.
You guys here..."
She drew out the words, looked at the menu, pointed with her fingers, and then said loudly in a clear voice, "What's the cheapest?"
The waiter almost thought she was going to order some food.
He was really puzzled. Why was she making such a big fuss?
Taking a deep breath silently, he said with all his patience:
"Our steamed buns are one cent each, plain noodles are three cents a bowl, extra toppings are five cents, vegetarian dumplings are two cents, meat dumplings are five cents, steamed cakes are one cent, flatbreads are two cents, scallion pancakes are three cents, wontons with vegetarian fillings are five cents, wontons with meat fillings are ten cents, wontons with noodles and clear soup are three cents a small bowl, five cents a large bowl, side dishes are one cent a small plate, three cents a large plate, chicken eggs are one cent each, and stir-fried green onions are three cents a plate. What would you like to order, young lady?"
"What's there to bring? It sounds like nothing is delicious." Shen Jiao's brows were almost furrowed. "Is that all?"
"How could that be? You're asking about the cheapest one. Of course we have delicious ones, but they cost extra." The waiter patiently explained with a smile on his face.
"You think I'm poor?" Shen Jiao was completely oblivious to his warmth and politeness. She stared at him in shock. "What do you mean by paying extra? Is that even worth mentioning? Are you implying that I can't afford it?"
"Oh, no, young lady, you are blaming me now. I run a business, so why should I be dissatisfied with my customers? Besides, you look like the daughter of a wealthy family, how can you not afford a meal?"
"Yes..." Shen Jiao's tone suddenly became dejected.
"Ah?" The waiter had to ask her, "Miss, what do you mean by that?"
Shen Jiao wiped away the non-existent tears: "There's nothing much to say, it's all in the past. Pick up some good wine and food and put them on two tables. We'll eat and drink our fill, that's all... Sigh."
She sighed.
Xiao Er's heart trembled: "What's the good of that?"
"Okay... well," Shen Jiao said nothing, glaring at him and urging him, "It's none of your business. Hurry up and serve the food."
The waiter must be possessed by evil spirits if he goes there. These people are obviously not right!
Not to mention the girl in the lead, just those things alone are weird.
Since the four guards came in, they have been sitting there with their heads down and not saying a word. Each of them has a solemn expression and hidden grief.
The man wearing a straw raincoat and hat doesn't even show his face.
From beginning to end, the girl who seemed to be the host was the one who made all the decisions. But judging from her words and behavior, it didn't look like she had money to spend on the meal. Instead, it looked like she was ready to commit suicide after having this meal.
The waiter forced a smile and said, "The food and wine will be here soon, but we are a small business, so we have to ask the young lady to pay first. It's two taels per table, so I'll give you a discount, three taels and eight cents, thank you for the favor, please..."
"Would I eat without paying? What do you mean, waiter?" Shen Jiao seemed to have been hit in a sore spot. He slammed the table, stood up, and said with a finger in his hand, "Could it be that these people also had to pay before they could eat? Ever since I asked for plain water, you've been picking on me. Could it be that you're just being a big restaurant and you're asking for money before and after? You're trying to cheat a stranger out of my money!"
"Why would I do that for three taels of silver?!"
My friend really feels wronged.
"How about this? Even if it's my fault, please take a seat, and the food will be here soon. We'll treat you to this meal, okay?"
"You take me for a beggar! Do I only have two cents to deliberately extort a meal from you? Why are you so rude? It's really unfair. I left my hometown and came here with joy and sincerity, just wanting a simple meal, but you make things difficult for me, humiliate me, and treat me badly. Where is morality? Where is justice? God, please kill this snob!"
Shen Jiao slammed the table and burst into tears in great sorrow. Not a single tear shed, but she continued singing, reciting, acting and fighting perfectly.
The waiter was stunned: What is she talking about? What is she doing? Is she crazy?
"No, everyone, please persuade me. This...what did I say? What did I do? I've been running around since you walked in..."
"You're still asking for a reward?" Shen Jiao shouted. "We only drank a sip of plain water, and we're still giving you money? Aren't you ashamed of saying such things? Oh my God, this is unjust! You, Yonghe Restaurant, are forcing people to death! You think you can sell a sip of plain water for an exorbitant price?!"
"What nonsense are you talking about? When have we ever sold plain water?"
"You still want to call this wine? Baishui is making a crazy profit by selling it at the price of aged wine!"
Shen Jiao screamed and yelled.
The waiter was furious. What else could he not see? "You, you are here just to cause trouble!"
What's with selling plain water for the price of aged wine? I'm afraid some of them drank watered-down wine and spent too much, so they're not happy about it, so they sent these people to retaliate.
"What are you reaching out for?" Shen Jiao asked weakly, then shouted loudly, "You still want to hit me? Fine, then beat me to death. Then you can drag me back to make buns. I think this is a legitimate black shop, and my life is not worth it!"
She started to make a fuss, and the noisy sound reached the second floor, and the drums and music suddenly stopped.
An older man walked up to the railing and asked, "What's going on down there?"
The clerk, whose tongue was almost tied with anger, suddenly found his true self and cried out in tears, "Boss, here comes someone looking for trouble!"
"What are you looking for? Are you trying to extort money again?" The shopkeeper seemed unconvinced. "I told you to do business honestly."
"I didn't. She was just looking for trouble. Even though I sent her two tables of food, she still refused to make trouble. She must be crazy."
"Damn it, why are we at this checkpoint?"
The shopkeeper's eyes fell on Shen Jiao's face, who had jumped onto the table and was sitting there, looking at him provocatively. He had no choice but to roll up his sleeves and get down.
At this moment, a lazy voice mumbled, "What happened?"
"Young Master, it's nothing. Someone is causing trouble. I'll just go down and chase her away."
"Kick me out? Why do you want to kick me out? Your store is big and you're bullying customers. I'm going to drag you into a complaint! If you don't pay a thousand or eight hundred taels, this matter will not end!"
Shen Jiao shouted upwards with a smile on his face.
