Chapter 7
The child in front of me was too thin and had not much flesh on his face, which made his eyes look particularly big and bright.
He Kaijin has been teaching in the village primary school for almost seven years, so he naturally knows Yunmian, who runs around the village every day. He already felt that Zhao Yuntao was a bit aggressive, and now after listening to Yunmian's explanation, he couldn't help but sigh and feel a little softer.
He rubbed Yunmian's head soothingly, looked around at the children watching the fun, frowned slightly and said, "The bell will ring soon, don't all crowd here, go back to the classroom and sit down to recite, I will check your homework later."
All students are afraid of memorizing and checking their homework. Less than a minute after He Kaijin said this, all the students who had just gathered together dispersed.
Only Zhao Yuntao stood beside him with his neck choked and refused to leave, his eyes fixed on Yunmian, as if he was afraid that she would make excuses and deceive Teacher He.
"You two come with me first." He Kaijin led the two children to the room on the right where he corrected homework.
After entering the house, he sat on a stool, put the homework book he took home yesterday to correct on the desk, and then took out the lesson plan for today, and then asked Yunmian: "When did you enter the school?"
"Seven o'clock." Yun Mian whispered the semi-accurate time given by the system uncle.
"Have you been to these classrooms since you entered the school?" He Kaijin asked her again.
Facing his gentle gaze, Yun Mian relaxed a little and shook her head obediently: "No, I just stood outside for a while and didn't go into the classroom."
"Then Yuntao, tell the teacher, where was Yunmian when you entered the school just now and found her?" He Kaijin turned to ask Zhao Yuntao.
Zhao Yuntao held his breath, intending to prove that Yunmian had stolen things, but after careful recollection, he still said in an angry voice: "She was standing outside our classroom."
He Kaijin asked him again: "Did the classroom doors in the school ever get opened at that time?"
"...No." Zhao Yuntao answered and then immediately said: "But she must want to steal something secretly! Otherwise, why would she come to our school so early alone? She is not a student of our school at all! Her mother doesn't even have the money to support her studies. Her family is so poor, she must want to steal money!!"
Yunmian had been listening quietly, but when she heard Zhao Yuntao actually say that his mother was poor, the anger in her heart suddenly surged up. Her small body rushed forward like a cannonball and hit Zhao Yuntao's stomach hard, causing him to stagger when he was caught off guard.
Yunmian attacked too suddenly, and driven by anger, she used all her strength. It was not until Zhao Yuntao covered his stomach and groaned in pain that He Kaijin reacted and pulled aside Yunmian who was about to continue attacking.
"You're always talking nonsense!" Yun Mian stared at Zhao Yuntao fiercely with red eyes, clenched her fists, and said loudly: "You said I was a thief and that my mother was poor. How could you be so mean? You lied and you're not a good student at all. I hate you!"
Yun Mian had never come into contact with swear words in her previous life, but there were many swear words in the memory of this body in this life. However, even if she was so angry, she still couldn't utter a single curse when she opened her mouth.
She could only use her voice to vent her emotions, and the most serious insult was to criticize the other party for being unworthy of being a good student.
Zhao Yuntao's face turned red after being scolded by Yunmian. He impulsively raised his fist and wanted to hit Yunmian at all costs.
Yunmian had already closed her eyes, but the expected pain did not come. Instead, she heard Teacher He's cold and stern voice: "Student Zhao Yuntao, is this what the teacher taught you?!"
Yunmian secretly opened her eyes and saw Teacher He holding Zhao Yuntao's raised wrist tightly. She breathed a sigh of relief and then moved to stand behind the teacher.
It was unavoidable just now, but now the crisis has been temporarily resolved, Yunmian can take care of her own safety.
"Teacher He, she just scolded me and bumped into me!" Zhao Yuntao also felt aggrieved, and he held his chin up stubbornly and refused to show weakness.
"If you hadn't verbally attacked her first, how could she have scolded you and bumped into you?" He Kaijin said in a deep voice, "I asked you just now. The facts prove that you misunderstood Yunmian about entering the school to steal things, but what did you do? Not only did you not apologize, you did something even worse."
Zhao Yuntao clenched his fists tightly. Even though he understood what Teacher He meant, he was completely unwilling to apologize to Yunmian.
Yun Mian looked out from behind Teacher He and saw Zhao Yuntao's expression. When the two were in a stalemate, she broke the silence with a crisp voice: "Teacher, I don't want his apology. I didn't steal anything. Can I leave now?"
Anyway, even if Zhao Yuntao apologized, he did it reluctantly. Yunmian didn't owe him anything, so she was unwilling to cooperate and forgive him!
Zhao Yuntao became even angrier at Yunmian's words, but Teacher He was standing right there. Even if he wanted to teach Yunmian a lesson, he didn't dare to really do it. He could only hold his breath and glare at her fiercely. He probably didn't know how many times he had beaten Yunmian in his heart.
As an adult, He Kaijin naturally noticed that Zhao Yuntao was unwilling to accept the result. He frowned in disappointment and asked him to go back to the classroom for class first.
After Zhao Yuntao left, He Kaijin relaxed his expression and asked Yunmian in a gentle voice, "Your mother said that she will send you to school next spring, right?"
Yunmian nodded seriously: "Mom is already saving money for my tuition. When she saves enough, I can come to study."
He Kaijin smiled and said with relief: "Your mother is very far-sighted. You must not let her down. What happened today was Zhao Yuntao's fault. As his teacher, I apologize to you on his behalf. I will also tell other students later that you were wronged."
Yunmian widened her eyes in surprise, not understanding why it was Zhao Yuntao who was talking nonsense, but Teacher He was the one who apologized.
But this teacher spoke very gently and with great temperament, just like what a scholar would be like in Yunmian’s childish fantasy.
So she listened carefully to every word of Teacher He, and nodded obediently every time the teacher said something, looking at the teacher with bright eyes, which were filled with the child's unconscious admiration and longing.
He Kaijin couldn't help laughing when he saw her look like that. After rubbing her head, he lowered his head to pick out some school supplies from the desk, found a cloth bag to put them in, and handed it to Yunmian.
He smiled at the dazed kid with his eyes wide open, and gently reminded him, "There are pencils, textbooks, and books for first graders in here. Take them back later. You can bring them to school next spring, and then your mother won't have to spend money to buy them."
This gift was undoubtedly very valuable to Yunmian now, but after hesitating for a few seconds, she reached out and took it.
"Thank you, teacher." Yun Mian held the cloth bag filled with books and pencils, and promised with squinting eyes: "I will study hard and become a good student!"
"Be good. The teacher will wait for you to report to the school next spring." He Kaijin nodded with a smile, stuffed a small piece of candy into Yunmian's pocket, and then sent her out of the school gate.
Outside the school gate, Yun Mian, holding a cloth bag, quietly watched Teacher He turn around and walk into the classroom.
"Uncle System, if I study hard, will I be able to become as awesome as Teacher He in the future?" The little girl's clear childish voice was filled with undisguised yearning.
She is looking forward to her future.
In her future, she might be able to become the most powerful and cultured person she has ever met.
But in the system's view, the mere fact of "looking forward to the future" is already unbelievable.
"I'm sorry, I can't answer your question."
Because the more than 3,000 hosts it had been bound to were all focused on being villains and creating trouble for the protagonist. They treated every world as a strategy game, using their own prophets to achieve various goals, but never discussed the so-called "future" with it.
"I will definitely become a great person!" Yun Mian didn't care about the system uncle's answer. She was very sure of the future she had and yearned for.
The system didn't say anything. Yunmian's future can only be decided by herself.
In its silence, Yunmian walked back happily with a bag of books.
On the way, they met Zhao Xiaoli, who was holding a sickle and carrying a basket on her back. Yun Mian knew that she was going to the back mountain to dig something called ginseng. She had never seen what ginseng looked like, so she called out to her from a distance and asked Zhao Xiaoli to wait for her.
"I'll put this back home first. Wait for me for a moment. I'll be here soon!" Yun Mian smiled without any gloom, as if the person who had slandered her as a thief and wanted to beat her was not Zhao Xiaoli's brother.
Zhao Xiaoli didn't know what happened at school. She just saw the cloth bag that Yunmian was holding like a treasure and asked curiously, "What is this?"
Then Yunmian showed off to him.
"These are all the treasures I just got!"
"There are new pencils, lots of textbooks and books!"
"Teacher He gave it to me. He also said that he would wait for me to go to school next year and become his student!"
"I will be able to go to school next spring. Do you want to go with me? If you do, you need to ask your second aunt to save up money for your tuition quickly~"
As Yun Mian spoke, she carefully opened the cloth bag and showed Zhao Xiaoli the brand new textbooks inside.
Looking at Yunmian's smiling face, Zhao Xiaoli was stunned for a while. After coming to her senses, she looked at Yunmian with an extremely complicated look and did not speak for a long time.
Zhao Xiaoli was very sure that Yun Mian had never obtained these books in her previous life.
It was clearly a predetermined fate, but now, through Yunmian's smiling face, she seemed to vaguely see the thread of fate being gently disturbed by a hand.
This made her think more involuntarily. There must be a reason for her rebirth, the so-called butterfly effect... If everything changed from now on, would the fate of many people, including her own, become different in the end?
Blinking, Zhao Xiaoli also smiled widely: "I'll go back with you. I'll tell Aunt Yunjin later, and we'll go to the back mountain together to pick some wild persimmons."
So the two little girls ran back like the wind, their happy and free figures facing the morning sun and the autumn wind on the edge of the field, like two free-flying birds not bound by fate.
