Chapter 9: Wanting to Kiss Her

Chapter 9: Wanting to Kiss Her

Yun Sheng's heart pounded wildly, and she didn't know whether to take a big step back or pretend to be calm.

Did you just kiss?

My cheeks felt hot, with a faint, tingling sensation spreading across them.

Yun Sheng wasn't sure either; all she knew was that Xiao Xu had suddenly started moving closer to her.

He drew closer and closer until his face was almost magnified in front of her.

In her panic, she instinctively turned her head to avoid it.

Just then, a maid's respectful voice came from outside, announcing that lunch had been prepared.

"Then let's have our meal." Yun Sheng blushed, but still wanted to appear calm, so she turned back.

Xiao Xu's expression remained calm, as if the sensation on her cheek was an illusion, but then he inexplicably pursed his lips again.

Xiao Xu stood up and said, "Okay, let's go."

The atmosphere was quiet during the meal with Xiao Xu; he seemed like the kind of person who never spoke while eating or sleeping.

Yun Sheng doesn't usually have such rigid and formal habits, but today she's actually quite glad about this atmosphere. She's even a little embarrassed, unsure of what to say to Xiao Xu.

After finishing his meal, Xiao Xu didn't linger and headed towards Mingyan Mountain.

Before he left, Yun Sheng asked, "Is there anything I can do for you at the manor today?"

Xiao Xu said, "You need to rest well. If you're bored, you can browse through the books on the bookshelf."

"I will be back by 5 PM at the latest."

It's already past 1-3 PM, and if I want to get back before 5-7 PM, time is very tight.

Yun Sheng wanted to say no more trouble, but after being given a faint look by Xiao Xu, she swallowed her words.

She then said, "I know it myself, you go ahead."

After Xiao Xu left, Yun Sheng remained seated for a while longer.

Only when Cuizhu brought in the sweet fruit and pastries did she completely relax, let out a heavy breath, and took light steps to the chaise lounge that had not been used since yesterday.

It was still not as comfortable as being in her boudoir at home. When Yun Sheng took off her shoes, she tilted her head and looked towards the door.

The embroidered shoes were neatly arranged under the chaise longue. She slowly and gently placed her legs on the chair, and as she leaned back, she let out a sigh of contentment.

Cuizhu stood behind the chaise lounge, fanning Yunsheng.

"Princess Consort, is this pressure just right? If you still feel hot, may I go and fetch another bowl of ice?"

Yun Sheng comfortably squinted her eyes, her stray hairs brushing against her cheeks in the gentle breeze from the fan. She raised her hand and tucked the strands of hair behind her ear with her fingers, looking utterly content.

She waved her hand lazily: "No need, let's just rest here for a while."

However, Yun Sheng was not sleepy and had no intention of taking a nap. After lying quietly for a while, she began to feel bored.

She opened her eyes and turned her head to look towards the east window. The book "Langhuan Miscellany" that she and Xiao Xu had just been reading was still on the table. The bookshelf behind the desk against the wall reached all the way to the beams and was filled with books.

Cuizhu noticed Yunsheng's gaze and took the initiative to ask, "What book would the Princess Consort like to read? This servant will fetch it for you."

Yun Sheng wasn't very interested in Xiao Xu's books. Now that he wasn't at the manor, she could relax and read her own novels.

But then, Yun Sheng suddenly remembered the fleeting touch from just now, and Shen Yuewan's words echoed in her ears.

"Prince Princess?"

Yun Sheng's eyelashes fluttered, and she came to her senses. She lowered her voice involuntarily, almost causing Cui Zhu to not hear her.

"Go and get the booklets that were put away yesterday."

Cuizhu asked, "Is the Princess Consort referring to the booklet that Granny Wenxin delivered yesterday?"

Yun Sheng was annoyed with her: "You know it, why are you asking! It's that one."

Yun Sheng had instructed that the booklets be stored in the innermost part of the corner cabinet, with the original intention that they would never be taken out again. Therefore, it took Cui Zhu some effort to retrieve the booklets.

All the booklets were packed in a wooden box. Yun Sheng watched as Cui Zhu returned carrying the box, and her heart tightened again.

Cuizhu came up to her and, seeing Yun Sheng's uneasy expression, said, "Princess Consort, this matter is not as scary as it seems."

When Yun Sheng heard her sarcastic remarks, she retorted irritably, "You've never been married, how do you know it's not scary?"

"Because all couples in the world have to go through this. If it were truly a torturous thing, someone would have resisted to the death long ago. Why would it be passed down from generation to generation, with illustrated guides specially prepared to teach newlyweds?"

Yun Sheng curled the corners of her lips: "I don't think it's that serious, I just..."

She fell silent as she spoke, and Cuizhu chimed in, "The Crown Princess is just shy. It's only natural to be shy in front of such a handsome man as His Highness. Once she overcomes this shyness, this matter will be easily accomplished."

Yun Sheng: "..."

I wanted to argue that I wasn't that shallow, but when the words came out, I realized I couldn't really refute them.

She couldn't even look at his refined and handsome face for too long; she needed to overcome that.

Yun Sheng had thought that since she had managed to get through it last night, and Xiao Xu had clearly said that she should get used to it slowly, after serving tea today, she felt that since she was determined to take this marriage seriously, she shouldn't delay it too much.

Moreover, Shen Yuewan's words reminded her that she didn't want to suffer unnecessarily when something unexpected happened.

It's all Xiao Xu's fault for not knowing how to do this at his age. I wonder if anyone has secretly taught him from the booklet.

Yun Sheng was feeling troubled, so she shook off her complicated thoughts and raised her hand: "Give me one to look at first."

As I opened the book, a strikingly powerful image immediately caught my eye.

Cuizhu was also stunned for a moment, then blushed and lowered her head.

Yun Sheng, however, forced herself to continue reading.

The booklet described things like "male on top, female on bottom" and "female on bottom, male on top" in even more detail than what Granny Wenxin had described back then, and with the accompanying illustrations, it was incredibly explicit.

Yun Sheng swallowed nervously, turned the page, and immediately gasped.

What are you doing?!

With a snap—

Yun Sheng slammed the book shut.

"Cuizhu, I don't want to look at this anymore, it's too ugly!"

Cuizhu was also embarrassed to look, but she wasn't the kind of person who had to prepare for the consummation of the marriage after getting married, so she could only whisper and advise, "Princess Consort, maybe you'll get used to it after looking at it more often. You have to learn this eventually..."

Yun Sheng interrupted her: "I don't care, I don't want to watch this."

She threw the booklet aside, still annoyed, when suddenly something occurred to her.

"Cuizhu, do you know of any other place besides this booklet where you can learn this?"

“This…” Cuizhu thought for a moment and then realized, “If the teaching is not this detailed, there are indeed other descriptions.”

Yun Sheng's eyes lit up, certain that Cui Zhu and she were of one mind and had thought of the same thing.

“It’s those storybooks we’ve heard before, right? I’ve always loved reading storybooks. I used to think they were all indecent and never read them. But now that we’re married, I’m being shown things that are even more explicit and ugly than those. Instead of reading this, I’d rather find some storybooks. I can learn from them just the same.”

"Cuizhu, can you find such a storybook?"

"Yes, it is possible." Cuizhu nodded.

"Then hurry up and go."

Now?

"Of course, now, otherwise how long will it take?"

Cui Zhu was surprised that Yun Sheng needed it so urgently, and after a moment of hesitation, she quickly accepted the order.

It wasn't until Cuizhu hurriedly left the room that Yunsheng noticed the booklet he had just looked at and the wooden box were still openly displayed on the table.

She glanced at them with disgust, but now that she had other options, she didn't even want to touch the booklets anymore.

So she left them where they were, waiting for Cuizhu to return with her business before tidying them up.

After all that fussing, I'm getting sleepy.

Yun Sheng yawned softly, turned her head to the side on the chaise lounge, and planned to take a nap.

Perhaps it was the summer breeze that rose this afternoon, dispelling the oppressive heat, or perhaps it was because I finally got to lie on the chaise longue I had been longing for.

Yun Sheng quickly fell asleep and slept for a long time without noticing when someone entered the room.

Before entering the house, Xiao Xu had already heard from the servants guarding the courtyard that the Crown Princess was taking a midday rest.

It was supposed to be a midday rest, but it was already close to dusk.

Upon entering the room, he was surprised to find no other servants inside. All he could see was a graceful figure reclining on the chaise longue.

She was fast asleep, her breathing shallow and light. Her thick, long eyelashes cast two delicate arcs beneath her eyes, and the belt around her waist was taut due to her side-lying position, outlining her incredibly slender waist.

Xiao Xu looked at the scene expressionlessly, seemingly unmoved, and slowly walked towards her.

As she approached, the man's tall figure cast a dark shadow over her, and she still showed no signs of waking up.

Xiao Xu sat down quietly to the side without any reason, not wanting to wake her.

He slowly raised his hand, his cool fingertips gently stroking her cheek, his fingertips remaining still at the lowest point of her face.

Without a bronze mirror in front of him, Xiao Xu couldn't see his own expression. He remembered what Yun Sheng had told him, and his eyes darkened.

What kind of look was he giving her?

Xiao Xu originally thought that her expression was no different from when she looked at others. However, she was beautiful, with fair skin and bright almond-shaped eyes that stood out in the crowd, making him feel comfortable and pleasing to the eye. Therefore, his gaze would always linger on her for a few more moments, but his expression should not have changed.

That's not the case. The answer was already given when they looked at each other not long ago, when he briefly saw her reflection in her eyes.

The desires that were suppressed back then have quietly resurfaced at this moment.

Xiao Xu lowered his gaze to those rosy lips, his mind clear: he wanted to kiss them, he wanted to kiss her.
