Chapter 1 Chapter 1 Ugly Dog, Handsome Man
Wen Yu returned home to find her father on the computer. It was dark, the curtains drawn, and the only light on was the computer screen. Hearing Wen Yu enter, her father quickly switched pages.
Auntie wasn't home, and the pot was cold, so Dad went to make some soup. After a while, the father and daughter sat at the dining table, eating and chatting casually.
After a few days of this, Dad finally showed some impatience and said something that suggested Wenyu leave. Wenyu wanted to leave, as she was afraid of being too dependent on her dad.
While packing, a group of people came in, including my mother. The scene changed, and Wen Yu, her father, her mother, and the others gathered in the living room.
Mom held a large tablet computer, staring at a black page. A streak of aurora green line gradually extended across the page. This was a locator, and the extension of the line represented someone's movement within a certain place.
Mom said, "She can't stand you anymore and must have left you."
After saying that, she leaned her head against her uncle's neck.
Dad paced back and forth impatiently, wandering here and there like a headless fly.
Uncle held my mother in his arms, just smiling and not saying anything.
Mom put down the tablet, tucked herself in comfortably, and urged in her tone, "Hurry up, get the job done first!"
Her hand moved down to soothe her belly. Wen Yu looked down and saw her mother's bulging belly. Her father beside her became even more irritated, but not because of the belly, but because of her aunt's sudden departure without saying goodbye.
It seems that what Mom is talking about is a divorce. But whether or not to get a divorce doesn't seem to make any difference. Dad already has an aunt, Mom has an uncle, and now—there's a new life in her belly.
They were discussing and arguing. Wen Yu seemed to be non-existent. No one here paid any attention to her. She stood up lightly, hugged her chest, and walked out the door step by step.
As she walked, she felt the coldness on her cheek. She raised her hand and touched it. It turned out that she was crying, without any sound or consciousness. She didn't even know when she started to cry.
At the same time, she felt ashamed because she was already in her twenties and was still crying like a child.
She tilted her head, waking up. The pillow felt cold and damp. She turned and looked. Wen Yu's profile was unclear in the darkness, but his long, regular breathing suggested he was sound asleep.
Wen Yu was the man she had met through a blind date. Their names were very unique and they seemed destined to be together. How many years had they been together? Wen Yu racked her brains, but couldn't recall.
She didn't like him, but she didn't hate him either. So, it was natural for them to be together and sleep together.
Wen Yu had to go to work tomorrow, so he closed his eyes and forced himself to fall asleep again.
But waking up in the middle of the night and wanting to fall asleep again was a difficult task for her. She felt drowsy and thought she had fallen asleep, but she felt that her sleep was not deep enough. She seemed to still hear the hum of the air conditioner in her ears. She sighed and opened her eyes.
The fluorescent lights overhead were bright, making her feel a little warm despite the cold air conditioning. A leader was giving a speech at the front, and she was among the colleagues sitting around a long table.
She suddenly woke up and realized that she was in the conference room and had just had a daydream.
No one noticed, right?
Wen Yu raised his eyelids and looked around. His colleagues were writing quickly in their notebooks, taking notes very seriously.
She breathed a sigh of relief and drew a big pig's head on her notebook. This meeting had little to do with her, so she sat at the end.
Soon, the meeting ended. Wen Yu slowly packed up and stood up. A pair of hands reached out, and a slender index finger tapped twice on her notebook, next to the pig's head.
Wen Yu looked over. Pan Xianchen's tall shadow, cast on her face by the fluorescent light, was hazy and gray. This was the airborne soldier not long ago, her leader.
But Wen Yu was not afraid of him because Pan Xianchen was very young. He was not like the leader who had just been transferred, who had the air of a middle-aged father and always wanted to teach his subordinates a lesson; nor was he like some of his colleagues who were full of energy and were always busy all day long.
“…For the second time.”
Wen Yu came back to his senses and saw Pan Xianchen raising his eyebrows opposite him with a somewhat stern tone.
"Huh?" She didn't understand.
"Is it hypnotic to listen to me speak?" Pan Xianchen said coldly. "This is the first time I've been distracted in a meeting and even sighed. What did I say wrong?"
The last sentence was obviously a sarcasm towards her, but she didn't even listen to it. How could she tell what was wrong?
"I'm sorry." Wen Yu bit her lip, lowered her eyebrows, and pretended to admit her mistake.
"Sorry for what?"
Wen Yu suddenly raised her head and looked up, and Pan Xianchen was also looking at her leisurely.
She'd already apologized. A high-ranking official with his own office shouldn't have to continue to embarrass a small-time tycoon like her, right? The conversation should have stopped with the three words "I'm sorry."
But at this point, Wen Yu had no choice but to continue acting: "I'm sorry... I didn't listen carefully to the meeting content and didn't take careful notes of the meeting minutes."
"Yeah." Pan Xianchen nodded, but Wen Yu couldn't tell whether he was satisfied or not.
"Copy today's meeting minutes three times."
?
Wen Yu raised her eyebrows and watched Pan Xianchen pass by without even looking at her, push open the glass door and walk out, then close the glass door and disappear.
Copy three times?
Does he think she is an elementary school student?
Wen Yu sat back at her workstation. Her colleagues in the office were typing away on their keyboards, and no one noticed her embarrassment.
In the notebook spread out on the table in front of her, the big pig-head was still grinning foolishly. She pouted and helplessly leaned her head over to Ye Yinuo's workstation behind her.
"Xiao Ye, can you lend me the meeting minutes to copy?"
Ye Yinuo stared at the computer and freed one hand to hand the notebook to Wen Yu.
Wen Yu thanked him and opened it. There was a picture of a dog taking a shit inside.
Wen Yu: “…”
Ye Yinuo's triumphant laugh came from behind.
Wen Yu turned around and stared at Ye Yinuo with resentment. Ye Yinuo put his hands together like a trumpet to his mouth and lowered his voice: "You actually want to copy the meeting minutes of a temporary worker? Oh my God! The meeting lasted more than an hour, and I just felt that the leader was constipated. The notebook was full of my own thoughts."
She pointed at the poop dog, but Wen Yu didn't bother to pay attention to her. He scribbled a few words on his notebook and then returned it to Ye Yinuo.
Ye Yinuo took it and looked at it. The big poop dog was wearing a suit and a tie. The tie even had a customized logo reproduced in detail, making it easy to recognize the original dog at a glance.
Ye Yinuo gave Wen Yu a thumbs up and said, "Master Wen, you have added the finishing touch. I will treasure this world-famous painting."
At five o'clock in the afternoon, Wen Yu got off work on time.
It takes about ten minutes to drive from work to home, and half an hour if there is traffic.
Half an hour later, Wen Yu drove into the underground garage of the residential complex. She turned off the engine but didn't get out immediately. The car speakers were still playing a song from a random playlist she hadn't heard before, but she still wanted to finish it.
The cream puffs on the passenger seat gave off an enticing aroma. Wen Yu took a deep breath. The unknown music stopped at that moment, and she prepared to get out of the car and go upstairs.
Wen Yu was on his day off today, so he prepared a meal for Wen Yu to enjoy when she got home. There was her favorite dish, braised pork ribs and braised eggplant, along with a vegetable dish and a soup.
Very rich.
Wen Yu was a very kind person, and he treated her very well. Wen Yu never cooked at home. But this delicious meal became very purposeful as Wen Yu touched her while they ate. When Wen Yu put his arm around her waist again, she put down her chopsticks, stood up, and sat on the sofa next to her.
"I'm full." Wen Yu said calmly, picked up the remote control, and randomly clicked on a program, just like listening to music in the car.
Wen Yu paused for a moment before gathering all his emotions and coming over. He stubbornly wrapped his arms around Wen Yu and smiled, "Why are you angry again?"
Wen Yu didn't look away from the TV program, but she wasn't watching it at all. Her attention was focused on Wen Yu's hand. Without a word, she used both hands to fight against Wen Yu's single hand. By the end, Wen Yu's heavy breathing was against her face, but she remained like a struggling insect, clinging to the dense spider web he had woven.
She was very tired, and perhaps because of the dream she had last night, she had no energy for the whole day. She couldn't handle Wen Yu's enthusiasm, let alone provide him with emotional value in the future.
While Wen Yu was washing dishes in the kitchen, Wen Yu grabbed her car keys and ducked into the car. The smell of cream still lingered, making her feel sick. She rolled down the car windows, but not feeling well enough, she started the car and sped away, letting the cool night breeze fill the car.
Wen Yu didn't know where to drive to. In this city with a population of tens of millions, it seemed that there was no place for her.
She was just driving by memory, and by the time she realized what was happening, she had already parked in the company parking lot. She twitched her lips, not knowing whether she felt miserable or ridiculous. This was actually the route that was most deeply engraved in her memory.
The voice-activated lights in the parking lot dimmed, and all around was quiet. Soon, the sound of an elevator, then footsteps, followed by the sound-activated lights turning on, were heard again.
Pan Xianchen emerged from the elevator, walking slowly but with long strides, seemingly arriving in front of Wen Yu in the blink of an eye. He'd been working overtime, and his face was exhausted, but this didn't make him look haggard, instead, it left a lingering impression of a story. The gust of wind from his walking lifted a corner of his suit hem, a rustling sound that reminded Wen Yu of the dog in the notebook.
My drawing skills are not good enough, it still doesn’t look like the person. The dog is ugly, but the person is handsome.
After Wen Yu evaluated the dog in the notebook and the person in front of her, she finally realized that Pan Xianchen was getting closer and closer to her.
Before anyone could look at him, Wen Yu quickly buried his head in the steering wheel, trying to avoid the sharp gaze like an ostrich.
Wen Yu remained silent, and the surroundings became quiet again. The footsteps disappeared. Then, there were two knocks on her car window.
At that moment, the first thought in Wen Yu's mind was: the pig and dog in the notebook should be torn out to destroy the evidence.
The second thought: It’s over, she had to copy it three times as punishment, and she copied it a total of 0 times.
