Chapter 56 Chapter 56 Slowly Healing
Wen Yu slept soundly, waking up around noon. The first thing she did was check on Aslan. After taking medication and a night's rest, Aslan seemed much better. Wen Yu rubbed the dog's head several times, then went to wash and change clothes with peace of mind.
Leaving the room, she knocked on the next door, but there was no response for a long time. Huo Zizheng appeared behind her and said, "He's gone."
Wen Yu went inside to check her phone. She usually turned on airplane mode when she slept, so she wouldn't be disturbed. After turning it off, Pan Xianchen's WeChat message popped up. He had already driven back home over two hours ago.
Huo Zizheng said: "Is he really not your boyfriend?"
Asked the question again. Wen Yu looked at him twice and answered again: "No."
But Pan Xianchen had been acting like a completely protective boyfriend yesterday. Huo Zizheng understood, smiled, and said, "That means he's pursuing you, but hasn't caught up with you yet."
Wen Yu smiled and said nothing.
Huo Zizheng said, "He drove all this way to see you last night, and then hurried back this morning. He loves you very much. I have a comrade who is just like that. His actions speak louder than his words. He's been married to his wife for several years now, and they live happily."
"Yeah." Wen Yu nodded, acknowledging what he said. She could certainly feel the love that others could see.
"Then why aren't you together yet?" Huo Zizheng asked, "Don't you like him?"
"I like him," Wen Yu boldly admitted her feelings, saying, "but I can't date him right now. I feel incomplete, like a broken piece of glass that needs to be glued back together. He's very complete and passionate. I want to wait until I'm whole, too, before I consider embracing him."
Huo Zizheng showed a puzzled expression and said, "I don't understand. What is complete and incomplete? How can you become complete?"
Wen Yu gestured to everything around him with his eyes and said, "I'm in the process of working hard now."
Still don't understand. Huo Zizheng shook his head and stopped thinking about it. He has a simple mind, he will directly say what he wants and what he doesn't want, and he can't understand too profound feelings. So many years of military experience have made his intuition very accurate, he does many things subconsciously, and he usually does them right. Wen Yu is a beautiful and interesting woman, he has put some thoughts into her, but after spending a few days together, his intuition tells him that this woman is not easy to win, and that man's corner is also not easy to pry. The man and woman seem to be surrounded by a barrier, and outsiders cannot easily break in.
Huo Zizheng thought for a moment and asked Wen Yu, "Do you still want to go lobster fishing or something?" Wen Yu nodded decisively, "Yes. That's why I came here. But I want to wait until Aslan is better before taking him with us."
"Okay, then once you've made up your mind, tell me in advance." Huo Zizheng pointed outside and said, "I'm going to the mountains. My WeChat signal might be poor, so the replies might be slow."
Wen Yu had a bold guess in her mind and looked at him speechlessly: "Are you planning to go hiking with other people again?"
Huo Zizheng didn't think it was a big deal and said, "I'm just sitting around doing nothing anyway."
Wen Yu: “…”
There are still many talented people in the world. But each has his or her own way of being talented.
Wen Yu returned to her room to spend time with Aslan. By the afternoon, Aslan had become more active. A day later, he was standing up, wagging his tail and licking Wen Yu's face. When Aslan became restless and darting around the room, Wen Yu sent a WeChat message to Huo Zizheng, suggesting that they go lobster fishing with Aslan.
Huo Zizheng returned empty-handed. He went to the warehouse behind the B&B to get his fishing gear and then drove his Wuling Hongguang to find lobsters. Wen Yu and Aslan sat in the second row of the car, one person and one dog looking out the front. Wen Yu looked at Huo Zizheng with a smile and said, "You've been out for so long, and you didn't get a single customer back?"
Huo Zizheng analyzed: "Things like this require fate. You and I are more destined to be together."
Died of laughter.
Wen Yu joked, "It's obviously because I'm kind-hearted and love to do charity."
"Indeed." Huo Zizheng drove seriously. The lobster fishing spot was not far away and they arrived soon.
Aslan got out of the car and started running around excitedly. Wen Yu was delighted to see him running around like crazy. She didn't know how to fish for lobsters, but she was eager to learn. Huo Zizheng was a very good teacher and taught Wen Yu the ropes in no time.
Wen Yu caught one lobster after another, and soon the bucket was half full. She was very satisfied with her learning today. She said to Huo Zizheng proudly, "Wow! A good teacher produces a good student!"
Huo Zizheng also smiled complacently. His bucket was even fuller than Wen Yu's, and it was throbbing and buzzing, making a very lively scene.
Wen Yu brought his own bucket over to compare with Huo Zizheng's, praising him wholeheartedly and clapping his hands. Huo Zizheng scratched his head, feeling a little embarrassed, and shook his fishing rod, allowing the next crayfish to escape his clutches.
With a splash, the fleeing crayfish dove back into the water. Wen Yu stopped clapping and started laughing at him. He looked at Wen Yu speechlessly. Wen Yu squatted on the ground in an unrefined manner, a thin layer of sweat from the sun shining on his forehead. He smiled so hard that his eyes curved.
Making fun of him was not enough, Wen Yu also deliberately said something sarcastic: "Master Huo, you are so good!" While saying this, he raised two thumbs up to tease him.
Huo Zizheng looked at her bright face, and his fingers on the fishing rod couldn't help but move. He quickly looked away, and after a long pause, he said, "You're still better."
Wen Yu couldn't discern the hidden meaning in his words; she simply felt the joy of lobster fishing and the joy of Aslan's pointless wandering. That evening, she went to a barbecue with Huo Zizheng. There was good music, fine wine, and people dancing to the music. Wen Yu, completely ecstatic, rushed onto the dance floor, dancing with strangers arm in arm.
The stranger who was dancing with her asked her, "Who are you, beautiful lady?"
She replied with a smile: "I am a beauty!"
Then the group of strangers froze for a second before bursting into laughter. A boy with a beard and pigtails said to his friend, "Another crazy one."
The friend replied: "No one is as crazy as you. If we talk about madness, no one can shake your position."
After joking with each other, they started laughing again. Wen Yu also laughed with them. Huo Zizheng sat on a small bench nearby and watched her, unable to help laughing as well.
After a wild party until 11 o'clock, Wen Yu reluctantly followed the Wuling Hongguang away. A stranger dancing with her called out, "Can we see you again, beautiful girl?"
Wen Yu stuck his head out of the car, waved and shouted, "Goodbye, Crazy Brother!"
After returning to the B&B, Wen Yu skipped a shower and jumped onto the bed to look at her photos from the day. She picked out a few that made her laugh the most and posted them on her WeChat Moments. Yan Qianqian, who had nothing to do every day, immediately liked the post. Ye Yinuo, who had just quit his job and was free, came in second. However, Ye Yinuo immediately called Wen Yu.
"Wow! You are a playboy now!" Ye Yinuo said jealously.
"Tomorrow I am moving on to a new place, a new era, a new look, happy learning, eating, drinking and having fun, all of which are my strengths."
Ye Yinuo: "..."
Why is he singing? Usually, it's Ye Yinuo who starts singing while talking. Sure enough, after not working, people become much more normal.
While admiring the photos posted by Wen Yu on her Moments, Ye Yinuo commented, "You're so cool! I noticed there are quite a few handsome guys among those you're grilling with!"
"Who? How come I don't know? They are all strangers. Now I can't even remember what they look like."
Ye Yinuo hummed and said, "Yes, yes, you have Mr. Pan. If you compare them carefully, they are indeed slightly inferior to Mr. Pan."
Wen Yu smiled and said back, "Mr. Pan can't compare to your Dou Lang! Tall, big, dark-skinned, and athletic!"
Speaking of Dou Lang, Ye Yinuo is no longer sleepy.
"Wen Xiaoyu, I want to report something to you—" Ye Yinuo deliberately coughed twice and cleared his throat, "Dou Lang and I slept."
Wen Yu:? !!!
"Really?" Wen Yu suddenly became excited and shouted, "You've only known each other for a few days!"
"Feelings can't be measured by the number of days we've known each other, and neither can sleeping." Ye Yinuo offered one crooked argument after another, "Anyway, I ate him, and my evaluation is: delicious, really fragrant, I want to eat him again next time."
Wen Yu cradled her flushed face in her hands as she lay down on the bed. The alcohol she'd consumed that night had left her mind very clear and active. Her voice had become soft and sticky. "Ah... such a high evaluation?"
"Yeah, it feels good." Ye Yinuo still felt blushing and heartbeating when she thought about it. She wanted to drag Wen Yu into the water and persuaded, "What about you and Mr. Pan? Haven't tried it yet? Try it quickly. How does it feel? You won't know until you sleep with it."
Wen Yu laughed non-stop. He laughed while holding his phone, laughed while covering his mouth, and laughed with his face buried in the pillow.
Ye Yinuo said: "Stop laughing! It's so ugly to laugh like that!"
After a while, Wen Yu was still laughing, and Ye Yinuo knew that Wen Yu must have drunk quite a bit tonight. Amidst Wen Yu's laughter, Ye Yinuo continued, "Based on my years of experience sleeping, let me analyze this for you: Mr. Pan is definitely a very strong person."
Wen Yu stopped laughing and said, "Why? Have you analyzed it? You just gave a conclusion."
"Why do we need to analyze when we have a conclusion? Remember to come back and tell me after you have verified it. I'll be waiting for you." Ye Yinuo chatted some random things with Wen Yu again. It was late, so he hung up.
Wen Yu slept better tonight and woke up later the next day.
She said goodbye to Huo Zizheng and drove to her next destination. Following this road, she would pass by the sea and climb over mountains. She also wanted to visit Beijing and Shanghai, places she had visited as a child, while still in school. Her parents would take her on trips during the winter and summer holidays. Her parents hadn't always been like this; at least on the surface, they had always been harmonious. Little Wenyu loved traveling with her parents. They had taken her to museums, zoos, and places as hot and cold as Hainan and Northeast China.
Wen Yu wasn't picky at all; she'd land wherever the car took her. Whether it was a place she'd been to before or a place she'd never been before, she'd feel and experience it with all her heart, as if it were her first time. The scenery was different in each place, but the sky was just as clear, the clouds just as high, the moonlight just as gentle, the stars just as bright. Wen Yu felt herself being slowly healed by these natural sights, like glue, holding together the broken parts of her.
She ran wildly across the prairie with Aslan, stopping when they came across a flock of sheep. In the midst of this unrestrained world, her mother called at an inopportune moment, saying, "Xiaoyu! Come home quickly! Your father's in trouble!"
